I shot up from my bed like a bullet as sweat was all over my body.
I was wearing my nightgown, and my skin trembled in fear of what happened back in the temple.
How did I end up here..?
The witch must have teleported me back into my house if the monster guards were about to break into the temple.
I was back in my room, a safe place for me to hide.
My room had a vanity, a couple of bookcases, a table and chair, a walk-in closet and maps of all the places in Atara.
These maps showed all Atara's secret bases and where some of the guilds had their HQ.
I stole it from my father while he was away, and my little sister knows to keep it a secret.
I got out of bed, hurrying to my vanity, searching for the hidden treasures the witch had given me.
I pushed all my makeup and perfumes aside as some of them crashed onto the floor.
I was eager to know if it wasn't all a dream and that everything I had experienced was real.
I felt a tingle through my body as I opened the small drawer that revealed the golden heart locket and the sword beside the vanity.
I was surprised that I hadn't noticed it before, but my mind was already a mess.
I put the locket around my neck and hid the sword under my bed so no one would know where it was.
I put my slippers on beside the bed and opened my bedroom door, peeking my head out to see the hallway.
There were no maids or servants, and father's friends were absent today.
I scurried to the dining room.
So I could ask my sister or father what had happened to me after I had arrived home.
The hallway was long and wide so that you could see the paintings on the wall.
The large windows revealed the light, and the carpet felt fuzzy as always.
Lights hung from the ceilings and expensive decorations were dancing like flowers.
I was walking at a fast pace flicking my head left and right at every room I went past to examine anything different or if any maids were in those rooms.
But nothing felt unusual and everything was there where it was meant to be.
I sighed in relief and continued my walk to the dining room.
I gazed at the clock on the wall and it was 18:20.
It would be dinner by now and my little sister Aleena must be worried sick about me if she didn't see me at dinner.
We promised each other as a family that we would all come to dinner no matter how busy we all may be.
I hated that promise since I was always busy with my applications but it made Aleena happy that we would all have a family gathering.
As I hurried down the staircase a maid stopped me in my tracks.
"Well if it isn't Camilla Hollow" She raised her eyebrow gazing at me up and down in her sassy voice.
"It's good to see you again Dabria" I rolled my eyes.
"Common you know you shouldn't speak like that to your closest friend" She giggled putting a hand around my shoulder.
"Your only saying that so I can give you money" I grinned.
"Maybe I am" She put her hand out as I took the cash out of my pocket placing it on her hand.
"Thanks babes" She winked putting the cash in her maid outfit.
"Just to let you know your dad got the letter about your application to that school. He seems like he is about to pop his balls off".
"Thanks for letting me know. At least I know he won't get any of the girls if he does that" I walked down the stairs waving a hand at her.
Down the stairs on my right was the dining room and you could tell from the humungous doors.
I pushed open those doors as my father and sister were staring at me as if I was a ghost that came back from the dead.
The servants were gazing at me in amazement as they couldn't take their eyes off my clothes.
I couldn't blame them.
Fashion was the only reason I keep living and without it, I would tear the whole world into pieces.
I mean fashion is the only reason a person can feel good about themselves.
I walked towards the long rectangular table that had too many chairs for only three people who had dinner every day.
I took a seat beside my little sister and sat down putting myself in a comfortable position.
Everything about the dining room was fancy.
The seats, the wallpaper, the chandelier, the cutlery and even the grand clocks themselves.
"Well isn't it surprising? Camilla finally comes to dinner wearing her nightgown" My father raised a hand as a servant came and poured wine in his wineglass.
"The only thing surprising is you not cutting your own balls off right now" I leaned back folding my arms together.
My father cackled a laugh as Aleena covered her mouth with her hands as a burst of laughter was trying to escape from her lips.
"You have that fire in you just like your mother. Even when you were younger you used to chase all the boys away from our house. It's sad you don't use that fire on your servants" He played with the wine in his glass.
"You act as if you weren't the reason no boys asked me out. You terrify the living soul out of them" I placed a hand on the table.
"Or maybe the reason is that dad can't pull no hoes" Aleena giggled as father spat the wine from his mouth.
Everyone in the room even the servants stared at her in shock as my jaw fell wide open.
Aleena was only seven years old and she already learned this type of language.
"Aleena you better not say that word again. You don't know the bad meaning behind it" Father coughed as a servant passed him over a tissue to clean his clothes.
"A hoe is a woman, in particular, one who has many casual sexual encounters or relationships" Aleena smiled as I laughed the living hell out of myself.
"Well done Aleena. You really are smart" I cackled a witch's laugh as my father gave me the death stare.
"Aleena you are only seven years old. I better not hear that from you next time" He squinted his eyes in anger.
Not because she said a bad word.
But because she was talking about him.
"Oh come on father. You know she is correct. How long will it take you to find another wife?" I played with the spoon in my hand.
"I don't need to find another wife thank you very much. I have two beautiful and talented daughters who will bring me honour".
"Honour my ass" I whispered as my father gave me the eye.
He always did that whenever he heard us insult him or any of his friends.
The servants soon came out from the kitchen door with piles of food on plates, stacked up like bricks.
They walked around the table placing the delicate dishes on the table and drinks of all types.
The smell was so amazing that I could gulp it all down in one go.
I tried to hold myself back as each servant went back into the kitchen after serving us our food.
Deserts were near the end of the table so our lazy asses couldn't lean in and grab it.
We waited until all the food was on the table and the smell of steak and juicy turkeys were never-ending.
Mashed potato smothered in gravy as the cupcakes were drizzled in all types of icing.
Cocktail, orange juice and drinks so exotic it felt as if you were in the tropical islands.
Before we could grab the food from their plates father raised his hand as if he was signalling us to wait.
Me and Aleena looked at each other wondering what he wanted to say.
"Your application came today Camilla," He said in a deep tone of voice.
"Yea so?" I leaned towards the table waiting to engulf myself in this delicious food.
"It's surprising for me to even say but you were accepted into the testing grounds and tomorrow you will go to the school's field to participate in those tests" His words stopped me from eating.
I got accepted!?
The school I wanted to go to was Moon academy.
It was one of the most fantastic schools where the most powerful guild member went to school in.
The royal family even lets their kids study there and all the celebrity's children go there too.
Moon academy always had an application which you had to do in able to be accepted into the testing grounds.
If you got accepted you can be able to participate in testing grounds which you go through 3 tests.
The first test is the one where you receive a letter from a local civilian and you have to be able to solve their problem in just three days.
If you cannot solve their problem then you are disqualified.
The second test is where you have to join a team of four to make your way out of the maze of death.
You will only have three hours which is less time than an average person should get because only the worthiest of people could be able to complete it.
If you don't pass any of these tests you are disqualified and you will have to wait until next year.
The third test is where you must complete a different set of tests which adds up to your main one.
It's kind of like sports day but in this one, they use strength, magic, knowledge and power.
If you are able to complete all tests the school will elect out of the winning people who shall attend the academy.
I waited years for this moment and starting tomorrow the tests will begin.
I jumped out of my chair in excitement as Aleena clapped her hands in awe.
But then I remembered what the witch had said.
Because I agreed to that mission.
She was the reason I was able to get elected and she also promised that she would help me on the tests.
If I had said no to that mission I wouldn't have been accepted and my father would have forced me to go to an all-girls school.
"That's amazing sis! I hope you win!" Aleena said proudly with her high-pitched voice.
Aleena and I were different in many ways possible.
I had long blonde wavy hair and beige skin.
I had a sharp jawline and high cheekbones.
My eyes were the colour of emeralds.
Aleena had baby blue hair which was also long and wavy.
Her eyes were as pink as cherry blossom and she always had a big red bow on her hair.
She had a cute round face and bright red cheeks.
Most of the young boys her age like Aleena a lot.
Nothing about us was similar and that was because my real parents had died in an accident and my father now is actually my uncle.
I address him as father because it makes me feel less lonely.
My uncle is named Damien and he is the leader of the Golden Lions.
Which is one of the most powerful guilds in the top five.
He had dark blue hair and it looked more black than blue.
His eyes were a dark brown and near the left side of his forehead was a long scar that none of us dared to ask him where it came from.
Everything about him was dark.
He reminded me of those lonely and isolated villains that had been cast out from their own kingdom.
Luckily he was extremely handsome and when I mean handsome I mean the fictional mafia-type ones in novels.
He thinks it's all just fake but if you compared him to one of those fictional men he would fit the description.
"So is this dinner going to be a celebration?" I said excitedly sitting back down on the seat.
"No this isn't. If I made this dinner a celebration you would end up getting so drunk that in the morning you won't be able to go to the training grounds" He eyed me up and down as always.
"Oh come on. You do this every time! You know that I am the number one person who could hold their liquor for a long time" I pouted begging him to let me drink this one time.
"No. That is my final warning" He grumbled angrily.
I rolled my eyes and everyone started to eat their dinner.
We all picked out the dishes from the table and Aleena wanted fish and chips.
Damien had a medium well steak with a glass of wine.
And I had barbecued ribs with a small glass of champagne.
The only reason my father allowed me to have champagne was that one full glass won't even knock me out cold.
Yet I was craving red wine and just by staring at my uncles wine made me dribble a little.
God, he was being an asshole for that.
I stabbed my fork into the ribs and began eating slowly as my mouth chewed the meat in my mouth.
I savoured the juice and texture as my stomach began to fill up like fuel.
After that encounter with the witch, I deserve a full meal.
Aleena had trouble cutting her fried fish so I leaned in closer to her grabbing the fork and knife from her hands.
"Let me help you with that" I cut up the fried fish into smaller pieces.
"Thank you, big sister!" Aleena smiled finally being able to eat.
A small smile revealed on father's lips as the sight of his two daughters getting along was enough to make his day better.
"Your a good sister" Father finally spoke after a long silence.
"You are only saying that because I do your dirty work every day" I chuckled not meeting his eyes.
"Maybe or maybe not" He spoke in a hushed tone.
"You are spectacular you know that? Ever since you were born you were gifted. In front of your friends, you act like an innocent person but behind the scenes, you are a ruthless killer who manipulates and plays with their pets" This time his words made me lose a bit of my appetite.
"So, you know about what happened in the city then?".
"Of course I do. Look Camilla I know I have no say in this but. You're wasting your talents. You could be more than the world expects you to be. So stop killing for fun! I can't keep on helping you every time you make these mistakes" He stabbed the knife into his steak with force.
"I never asked you to help me with my own mistakes. I can take care of myself. And even if I became more than the world wanted me to be. What would be left of me? I have years left until I die. I would rather have my fun now than later".
"Camilla please be quiet. Father isn't in a good mood" Aleena begged.
I stared into those crystal eyes of hers and the whole world fell all of a sudden.
She was scared of what type of fight me and father was about to have and she was only seven years old.
I stroked her hair gently smiling down at her.
"I am sorry Aleena. It won't happen again" I went back to eating ignoring the stares of everyone in the room.
Clearly, this wasn't going to turn out good either way.
"I hope you can forgive me, Camilla. Today's actions that you have done were unacceptable though. Killing the CEO of a big company was the wrong thing to do" He took a big gulp of his wine cleaning his mouth and hands with a napkin.
"Wrong..? That man sexually harassed women! A man like him shouldn't even walk on this Earth if he cannot keep his filthy hands to himself. My job isn't about killing people for fun. It's to kill the people who have already done their wrongdoings and deserve punishment" I stood up from the chair and stormed my way out of the room slamming the door shut.
He couldn't keep his mouth shut for at least one minute.
I knew dinner was going to be terrible but not like this!
I made my way through the hallway so I could make my way through to the third kitchen.
We had five kitchens in total.
I never knew why we needed five kitchens but the third kitchen wasn't like the others.
Because the chef who roams the third kitchen is a shapeshifting beast who nearly destroyed the capital years ago...
