Chapter 9 - Big Mistake

~During Lunch~

Bismika's P.O.V.

Hearing the bell for lunchtime, I almost run toward the girls' common room. Now, I'm scanning through every face appearing in my view. But our 'sweet' Scarlet is nowhere to be seen!

Thiiiss giirrlll!!! Didn't I tell her that I would be in the girls' common room during the break!

Now, I'm rushing toward the cafeteria. And guess what? The Almighty actually grants my wishes once in a while! There is my baby girl, wandering around from one food counter to another like a lost puppy.

I feel my blood boiling. I rush towards her, grab her vest and yank her from behind.

How dare she reject my command! Huhh!

"Ohh Miikaaa!"- here she goes with her usual totally unnecessary screaming. Meanwhile, my tiny frame is suffocated like a fish out of water under her deadly hug.

"I wanted to look for you after finishing my class. But I had to visit the library to receive the library card. There I ended up chatting with Red Rose,"- still clinging to my shoulder, she pouts. But, the fact that she already has given a nickname to Mrs. Rosario makes my eyes roll up.

"Okay, okay. Now, get off my already damaged body,"-I shot daggers at her. But she doesn't seem to get bothered by my scolding even a little bit. AS USUAL!

"Mika, I felt so hungry and this damn cafeteria is so lavish that my tummy literally begged my legs to bring my body here,"- whining dramatically, she slowly withdraws her hands from me.

Getting my body back from Scarlet the Scary, I cross my arms and stare at that lunatic. She is standing in front of me, placing both her hands on her tummy with an artificial helpless expression. I knit my brows together at her behavior.

"Hunnggrryyyy,"- she batters her big eyelashes. I close my eyes and a long sigh escapes my mouth.

"Five minutes. Buy something quickly and let's get out of here,"-my words come like scolding. I can't waste any more time. Mr. tormentor might be coming at any moment to bring the ultimate tornado of misfortune.

Scarlet grabs my arm as I try to walk past her. "Get out of here!?"- now she is showing seriousness. "We aren't eating in the cafeteria?"

"Yes,"- I batter my eyelashes at her, imitating her earlier action. "I brought my lunch with me,"- turning my back, I continue. "So, as soon as you buy your food, we'll go to the field."

Scarlet walks me side by side toward the food counters. The look of disappointment isn't leaving her face.

"We're eating in the playground instead of the cafeteria? What's fun in there!"- Scarlet whines like a baby. "Let's eat right here,"- ordering some nuggets, fries, and soda, she suggests me this suicidal idea.

"And what about Liam?"- her eyes lit up while mine are gotten darkened at her comment. "In the morning I wasn't able to talk much. So, I promised him to meet during lunch."- she continues her blabbering.

NOW SCARLET WANTS TO EAT WITH LIAM MILLER!!

My mind, my brain, and my limbs all seem to stop working for a moment. WHAT THE!

"Liam spends lunchtime with his soccer buddies. I don't think it's a good idea to meet him now. Besides, I know some lonely places in the field where we can talk our hearts out. Our exclusive date,"- I wink at her to hide my terror.

Now, Scarlet looks energetic. One of her hands is holding the tray of food and the other is on my shoulder.

"Okay, bestie. Let's make this moment count,"- she says dramatically and we both giggle.

We sit under the oak tree and I take out my lunch box. I can't afford fancy lunch. Just sandwiches and some salted cookies, since someone has to finish those tasteless things.

Scarlet picks up one of my sandwiches. "Mmmmmm,"- keeping her eyes closed, she nasalizes. "Your cooking skill got even better."

"Don't talk while you are eating,"- I scold her and take some fries from her tray.

"Oh, hey. Liam said that he was in the same middle school as you,"- her mentioning of Liam, catches me totally off guard.

"He is so friendly! I think he could be a good friend of yours if you had-"

"How did you meet him?"- my low voice interrupts Scarlet's jolly one.

"Yesterday actually,"- she says blushing. "I was wandering on the lonely street and he suddenly showed up. His tee was totally covered in blood!"- her eyes grow bigger while mine are about to jump out of my sockets.

COVERED IN BLOOD!

"Yes, just like you, I also got scared by his appearance. But he immediately clarified the misunderstanding. He had rescued a wounded stray dog from a ditch. So, while carrying the dog to his car, all the blood got smeared on his tee," she sips her soda. "This city surely has some deep woods I must say,"- she says casually.

My mouth is still a gape. LIAM RESCUED A STRAY DOG FROM A DITCH! And not to mention his destroyed tee, which must cost an arm and leg!

Though my brain wants to still work on the thought that, Liam was being kind; Scarlet's voice pulls my attention toward her anyway.

"Ya listening?"- Scarlet knits her eyebrows together.

"Uhm. Y-ya."- I kinda stammer. "So, how did your conversation go? You two look quite buddy-buddy today."

"Oh, yeah. I mean, he is really sweet,"- Scarlet's cheeks get redder from blushing while my eyes are getting redder from rage.

She thinks that Liam is sweet! My best friend, Scarlet thinks that my worst bully is sweet!

"And why is that?"- I try to smile. But my voice completely ditches me and it comes all dried up.

But, Scarlet, being too indulged in her newly found 'sweet' friend, fails to detect the change in my voice.

"You started our conversation with random stuff,"- she continues with excitement. Her eyes are gleaming for something I'm totally unaware of. "When I said that, I have returned after a long time, he insisted to show me around the city."

Processing her words in my brain, I take a large bite of my sandwich.

"I feel so lucky that I already made a friend here."

Hearing this crap for the second time today, the chunk of food also decides to attempt suicide and it finds its way directly to my throat, making me all choke and coughed up.

Coff coff co-ff.

"What happened Mika,"- Scarlet gets all worked up at my reaction and starts massaging my back.

A few more coughs and I get normal eventually. "Uh-hm, I'm okay"

"I can't believe this,"- Scarlet's eyes are still in shock. "I'm here performing like a cockatiel while eating and you are getting choked on food without even saying a word."- she puts on a fake disappointing face and passes me a bottle of water.

Maaaaaaann! This girl dares to prioritize her drama-queen attitude while her poor friend almost died!

I gulp water from the bottle. Though the choking effect is over, my mind hasn't been stable yet. My brain is still processing the frightening thought. There is a high chance that Liam is being nice to Scarlet only to torment me or get both of us in a trouble.

"Okay Mika, let's head back to the classes. The time is almost over."- Scarlet shows concern watching her wristwatch.

For the sake of the Almighty, WHY!? Not only do I hate math but also I have this class with Liam, Evan, and Colton. Though Liam doesn't bully me in front of anyone except his gang members, the idea of being in the same class with him makes me mortified. And don't get the wrong idea that he shows me mercy in front of others. According to him, he will lose his charm if he talks to a low life like me in front of others! He truly is a flag bearer of narcissism.

Admitting the nerve-wracking fact of sitting under the same roof with my bullies, a long sigh escapes from me. To avoid future trouble, I silently put their homework, which Liam gave me yesterday, on Ethan's desk.

As I take my seat, I see our math teacher entering the classroom. With any greeting or a single word, he starts scribbling on the board. Mr. William is a true example of a grumpy pant.

After about 15 minutes Liam and his gang enter the class. I haven't missed the stern look on Mr. William's face as he watched Liam casually walk toward his sit even after being super late.

"Ahem."- Mr. William clears his throat to get attention from everyone.

"So, I suppose you are Liam Miller?"- he tries to put a smile while asking.

"Yes, I am."- Liam doesn't sugarcoat things.

One thing I'm sure about is that if it wasn't for his extraordinarily loaded Daddy dearest, there's no way he could pull this carefree act toward a teacher like Mr. William.

"You have missed some of my classes for the soccer tournament."- Mr. William continues. "If you face any problem, feel free to ask me for help. I also gave some homework. Hope your fellow classmates will help you with that. And submit-"

"I've completed the homework."- Mr. William is interrupted by Liam's words.

He looks kinda shocked at Liam's words. The boy who doesn't look serious at all and missed classes actually completed the homework on his own!!

Well, the information is sure questionable for everyone to believe until they find the truth that Liam has been making me do his homework since middle school.

"Let me check if you have done it all right," Mr. William reaches over to Liam's desk to clear the doubt.

While Mr. William is checking the notebook, I can feel my heart trying to jump out from the ribcage. Math isn't my forte and mistakes in Liam's homework will surely put me on stumbling block.

"You need to do it again."- Mr. William's voice makes me shiver in fear. "Though you have tried, there are a lot of mistakes. I've marked the mistakes. So, do it again with proper care."

Suddenly I'm feeling cold. The idea of Liam being mad at me is enough to make me feverish. The last time when he got poor marks for a chemistry assignment for me, he burnt my leg with diluted sodium hydroxide. The pain was unbearable. The idea of what he might do this time is sickening.

I close my eyes and inhale deeply. The idea of me being alive is a big mistake.
