Chapter 26 - Jade Bracelet

When she cautiously raised this wish, she received Sheng Rou's impatient gaze and Kong Rong's ridicule and scorn.

Only then did Kong Zhao realize that even after she came out of the orphanage, she was still an orphan.

The alarm bell rang in the morning and Kong Zhao, who snapped out of the dream, stretched lazily. She felt that she had slept very comfortably and peacefully!

For once, Kong Zhao didn't dawdle in bed. She got up when the bell rang.

When she walked out of the room and saw Cheng Fang frying eggs in the kitchen, the conversation last night and the memory of asking Cheng Fang to coax her to sleep rushed into her mind.

Kong Zhao hammered her head lightly and thought to herself that alcohol was indeed a bad thing!

However, it was all thanks to Cheng Fang last night. Jiang Yun and Wang Hao were clearly in the same boat. If Cheng Fang hadn't arrived in time and she had drunk a few more glasses, she definitely would have become drunk and others could have done whatever they wanted to her.

During breakfast, Kong Zhao thanked Cheng Fang. "Fortunately, you arrived in time last night. Otherwise, with my luck, who knows how many glasses I would have had to drink!"

Cheng Fang glanced at her and snorted. "Hmph, who was the one who was unhappy when I asked you to send the location and room number last night?! Remember to take the initiative to send me the location the next time there's a gathering."

Kong Zhao seized the time to eat the bread. Her cheeks puffed up like a little hamster. When she heard this, she nodded without hesitation. "It's my fault! Fortunately, I received your call before entering the private room."

Ever since they got married, Kong Zhao realized that Cheng Fang always appeared at the right time. He was like a protective umbrella!

Cheng Fang looked at Kong Zhao's obedient appearance and could not help but reach out to rub the little head in front of him. Kong Zhao touched her messy hair and glared at Cheng Fang.

However, in Cheng Fang's eyes, it was more like a girl's coquettish behavior, making him want to hug and massage her.

When Kong Zhao arrived at the office and turned on the computer, Jiang Yun stuck her head out and asked casually, "Kong Zhao, what does your husband do?"

Kong Zhao glanced at Jiang Yun and said calmly, "He's just an ordinary employee."

Last night, Cheng Fang only stood at the door and wore a cap to cover his face. Everyone only saw that he was wearing ordinary clothes and didn't have any branded clothes on him.

After Jiang Yun heard this, she thought to herself that since the other party was an ordinary employee, Kong Zhao was destined to be unable to avoid it.

After work, Kong Zhao went to the hospital to see Mrs. Li.

As the duration of her illness increased, Mrs. Li's complexion became worse.

Kong Zhao had only fed her half a bowl of porridge when Mrs. Li waved her hand to indicate that she could not eat anymore.

Kong Zhao frowned and said worriedly, "When I called you yesterday, you lied to me and said that you were much better, but you only ate half a bowl of porridge."

Mrs. Li smiled. "This is how my illness is. My appetite is about the same whether I'm feeling better or not."

As she spoke, she took out the key to the bedside table and gestured for Kong Zhao to unlock it.

Mrs. Li looked at Kong Zhao lovingly. After taking out the cloth bag, she slowly said, "Xiao Zhao, I have something to tell you. Back then, when I went to the orphanage to pick you up, the dean gave you a jade bracelet and said that it was in your clothes when you were sent to the orphanage."

After saying that, she took out the coat at the bottom of the cloth pocket and took out the jade bracelet wrapped in cloth from the inside pocket of the coat before handing it to Kong Zhao.

"The orphanage's director said that it should be something your parents left behind. You were still young back then. I was worried that you would break it, so I kept it for you. Now that you're older, it's time for you to keep it yourself."

Mrs. Li's tone made Kong Zhao's eyes turn red. She said, "I definitely can't take good care of it myself. Mrs. Li, can you continue to safe keep it for me?"

Mrs. Li reached out and gently stroked Kong Zhao's head. She had never married or had any children in her life, so she treated Kong Zhao as her own daughter. The only person she cared about in this world was Kong Zhao.

Mrs. Li said weakly, "If you don't know, learn how to. You're a big girl. You have to learn to protect your things!"

Kong Zhao watched as Mrs. Li spoke with great effort. She didn't want to make her unhappy, so she obediently took the jade bracelet.

The two of them talked about the happy things in the past. After Kong Zhao amused Mrs. Li, she watched her fall asleep before leaving.

After leaving the ward, Kong Zhao stopped smiling and went straight to the attending doctor's office.

When Dr. Bai heard Kong Zhao's question, he sighed lightly. "The patient's condition is indeed quite bad now. Her edema is a little serious. We discovered the situation of complications yesterday, and her digestive system was affected. Her bad appetite was caused by this, and there were also symptoms of nausea and vomiting."

Kong Zhao frowned and asked anxiously, "Doctor, has the suitable kidney still not been found yet?"
