Chapter 3 - The Wedding

"Lin Xu! You're hurting me! I'm pregnant with your child now, but you're treating me like this because of a vixen?" Kong Rong shook off Lin Xu's hand and looked at him in disbelief.

Lin Xu didn't want to argue with Kong Rong anymore. He looked at Kong Zhao with bitter regret.

He was extremely vexed with himself for not resisting Kong Rong's temptation. If that incident hadn't happened, he would have been the one to marry Kong Zhao, right?

"Stop fooling around. Are you done?" Lin Xu looked at Kong Rong in disgust.

"Lin Xu, you…" Kong Rong didn't understand why Lin Xu was still so protective of Kong Zhao when Kong Zhao was about to marry someone else.

Kong Zhao found the farce in front of her a little funny. She walked to Kong Rong and a cold look appeared in her eyes. "They're talking about the Kong family's young lady, Kong Rong. What has that got to do with me? And don't call him an illegitimate child. Didn't the Kong family teach you any manners?"

Kong Zhao looked at her hand and smiled at Kong Rong. "If Dad and Mom didn't teach you well, I don't mind fulfilling my duty as your eldest sister."

What did she mean? Did she feel confident just because she was about to marry into the Cheng family?

Kong Rong looked at Kong Zhao in disdain, and her tone was filled with contempt. "Do you think you have a backer just because you're marrying into the Cheng family? Open your eyes and look at the wedding venue. The time is up, but the groom still isn't here. Don't you know what's going on?"

She understood what Kong Rong meant. She was also very anxious, but she couldn't let Kong Rong mock her. "Does it have anything to do with you?"

"You!"

"Sorry, I'm late." A voice outside the door interrupted Kong Rong.

Cheng Fang alighted from the bicycle while panting. He was wearing an ill-fitting suit and his face was covered in sweat. Although he was handsome, his sorry appearance greatly reduced his handsomeness.

When Kong Rong saw Cheng Fang like this, she felt a little disdainful. She felt that her choice was extremely right, but she was still dissatisfied.

Why wasn't Cheng Fang ugly? He was so good-looking. That b*tch Kong Zhao was in luck!

On the other hand, Kong Zhao heaved a sigh of relief when she saw Cheng Fang's face. At least his face was good-looking, which gave her some comfort.

Cheng Fang raised his hand to wipe the sweat off his head, revealing the cuff of his sapphire shirt.

Kong Zhao narrowed her eyes slightly. Wasn't Cheng Fang an unloved illegitimate child? How could he have something so precious that even money might not be able to buy?

Cheng Fang felt Kong Zhao's gaze and saw that she had noticed his cufflinks. He whispered in embarrassment, "This is a knockoff my friend bought. I wanted to borrow it to look like a big shot, but I didn't expect you to see through it so quickly." With that said, he took off his cufflinks and put them in his suit pocket.

"It looks quite authentic." Kong Zhao wasn't used to the close distance between the two of them, so she took two steps back and rubbed her burning ears.

Cheng Fang saw Kong Zhao's small actions. He narrowed his eyes and felt puzzled.

It was said that his fiancée's private life was very messy. She changed boyfriends several times a month. Why would she be so nervous and shy because of his approach?

The wedding was hastily completed without anyone's blessing.

After the guests left, Cheng Fang brought Kong Zhao back to his house.

The moment the door was opened, a rotting stench assaulted their noses. The walls were mottled, and the bright red banner with the word "festive" hung on the wall. The old furniture and damaged floor made the house look like it was about to collapse at any moment.

Kong Zhao looked at everything in front of her in shock and couldn't believe her eyes. This was the first time she had seen such a dilapidated house in her life!

Wouldn't such a house collapse soon?

Cheng Fang looked at Kong Rong's shocked expression and said in embarrassment, "This second-hand house was prepared for us by our family. It's a little dilapidated. I'm sorry. I really want to, but I can't give you a good life at the moment. I know I'm not worthy of you. If you don't want to be with me, I won't stop you from leaving."

She shook her head to show that she didn't care. She told herself that there wasn'thing to be aggrieved about. She needed money to save Mrs. Li, but she couldn't help but feel sad.

She was a little envious of Kong Rong. Kong Rong's parents doted on her at home, and even her fiancé had been considerate of her before she married into the family. However, she only had Mrs. Li, and the illness threatened to take her away from her.

Kong Zhao was immersed in her own thoughts and didn't notice that the man beside her was looking at her quizzically.
