Gnashing of teeth, cussing and fussing was another routine for the day, rather than being embarrassed, she placed the blame on him. Mostly when she couldn't see who this man was, seriously why was he dressed like that if it was his own house. Something was fishy, perhaps some alien was leaving with them. The thought of he taking a look at her on a night gown infuriated. She complained to her superstar poster and was bent to safe the neighbors from a stranger. The owner was meant to turn up in three days time which of course would justify his actions.
"Despicable man!" She snapped while going to wash up.
The whistling kettle was turned off as she made way for the sitting room, just when she intended to stomp to the sitting room, the lights went off which made her shudder, as she was scared of the dark ever since an incident that happened when she was an adolescent. Something must have gone wrong which haven't occured before.
Daniel who lived downstairs hurried up to her as though he suspected something was wrong, he had a lamp with him too, got into her room and found her writhing on the ground terrified, panicking and crying. He knelt down and shifted her body to his while saying soothing words to her. She wrapped her hand around his neck and buried her head lazily on his chest while panting heavily. The lights had to keep her down as it had come on and a smile hanged around Daniel's face.
"You're so brave!" He praised even though he knew she was still trying to snap out of the nightmare. After a while of remaining in that position, Daniel took her to sit on a cushion while he prepared a meal for her.
"What went wrong with the lights?" She asked and he explained that perhaps it was power outage which was restored in no time. There sweat all over her face as she was whined.
"Thank you" she said to him and he hummed.
"Com'on eat something, it's not time to wear such sad faces" he teased and she chuckled telling him that sad faces doesn't mean they're weary but just putting on an act. He had made pizza and bacons which they ate together discussing of big dreams which of course Daniel didn't believe in because they're fantasy. While she spoke, he stared at her, she was pretty when speaking and demonstrating.
"So what do you think?" She snapped and he raised his thumb up. Every word she spoke about didn't store up in his brain as he was lost in his own fantasy
"Do you believe in magic?" He suddenly muttered letting out a smile and she scoffed while punching him on the chest and shaking her head positively.
"Would you grant my wish of meeting Damian?" She uttered with an innocent gaze and he grimaced.
"Nope" he snapped which made her frown at him, when she had thought that he would grant her earnest desires even though it was a joke.
"Heard someone moved in today" Daniel began diverting from the initial topic, her heart skipped a bit when she heard that and she feeling embarrassed out the blue seems all the ego she gathered up were fading away.
"Really? Is he the real occupant there?" She asked with a pretentious gaze at him and he explained he moved in earlier than expected though, perhaps he was running away from something. Natalie laughed, at least she wasn't the only one that disliked the neighbor next door.
"Well just don't get in trouble though" he advised knowing how troublesome she could be at the arrival of a new neighbor always acting friendly to all as though she was the only good neighbor on earth.
"I won't" she snapped frowning but inside her heart, she wanted to know more about this person.
"Natalie, not everyone deserves your goodness, so don't get yourself involved okay?" He pressed on and she nodded obediently yet he knew how this girl could be.

He brought out a map of the building as a part was circled, hissed and folded it back as he tried making a phone call. The caretaker rushed towards him in panic as he peep to and fro making sure no one saw him getting in. He sniffed his armpit and spray perfumes of different fragrance. Standing at the sitting room, he was nervous and ticking his tongue just like the large clock and in a short while, the awaited host arrived from his study room, he had a bathrobe on and a rolled map in his left hand. The caretaker let out a silent smile and the latter scoffed.
"The house where the basement is located is in the house next door" the caretaker began and the latter sigh.
"Why did you put someone there? That area is meant to be segregated" the latter motioned bitting his lower lips.
"I just didn't want to make it sound suspicious, besides the occupants is witty"
"I have a week time over here, you need to act fast"
"Yes Damian, I will see to that but the thing is the people over here aren't ready to move out".
"Just come up with something"
"The teem company are attempting to take this building too" the caretaker explain as Damian crossed his arms listening keenly to what this middle aged man said.
"Handle it, you could bribe them off or something, I would be leaving the country soon"
"Yes sir" the caretaker responded as he gnashed his teeth petrified.
"You're all sweaty and you know what the means" Damian snapped and the caretaker gasped at the irritated man
