Chereads / Conquest of Magic / Chapter 60 - Part 60

Chapter 60 - Part 60

As they burst from the forest, the wolves transformed mid-leap, their massive bodies taking shape in a flurry of fur and power. Jackson's amber eyes burned with a fierce intensity, a thirst for battle that was both terrifying and captivating. His eyes gleamed with an almost predatory hunger, reflecting the lethal nature of werewolf bites for vampires. The sound of their growls sent shockwaves through the battlefield, causing the vampires to recoil in panic. The vampires, clearly unprepared for the sudden appearance of the wolves, were overtaken by fear as the beasts tore through their ranks. The wolves were larger than average, their muscles rippling under their fur, making them formidable opponents. Each vampire that encountered them met a swift and brutal end, their throats bitten through with terrifying ease. The wolves formed a protective circle around me, their eyes locked onto the vampires with a ferocious glare. Their growls reverberated through the air, a deep, resonant sound that rattled the bones of both witches and vampires alike. They stood guard as if I were their queen, a testament to their loyalty and strength.Jackson, towering among them, stood by my side, his powerful frame a pillar of strength. His fur was a deep, rich brown, and his muscles were finely honed, a clear sign of his formidable power. He moved with a grace that belied his size, each step a controlled display of his strength and agility. He locked eyes with me, his amber gaze filled with intense, unwavering affection. Through the connection of our minds, his voice echoed in my head, steady and reassuring. "I will not fail to protect you once again," he vowed, his tone both fierce and tender. "Protect the Queen," he commanded to the wolves, his authority unquestionable.Sophia's eyes looked like they would bulge out of their sockets. Stanely and Queen Irna looked at me nervously. The vampires looked at each other, unsure of what to do. Suddenly, I heard a sound of laughter among the vampires."Well, well, well. What are the muts doing here?" Said King Edmond, appearing from the crowd, along with William locking gaze with the Warewolves.Queen Irna stepped forward with her sword.Edmond looked at her and laughed."How dare you?" Queen Irna said in a sharp voice and clenched her jaw.He looked at her with hatred in his eyes. "What else do you expect?"Edmond growled, and his whole body started shaking."You killed my wife. You took away my son's bride. I was humiliated in front of my people. Should I add more to the list?" He asked, walking to his left gracefully as if he were taking a stroll in the garden."We can wipe out your entire race if you don't stop now," Queen Irna warns, her voice firm and powerful.King Edmond smirks, his fangs extending threateningly. "It doesn't look like my race is getting wiped out," he scoffs, his tone dripping with hatred.Lord Zaphyr stepped forward, his regal presence commanding attention as he stood beside Queen Irna. "Edmond, you broke the treaty." "You will be punished for this," he said, his voice filled with authority and rage.Edmond glanced around with an arrogant sneer. "As far as I know, the council is not supposed to take part in the war. Right?" He raised an eyebrow, challenging anyone to disagree."This is between myself and the witches. "You should stay out of it until it's over," he said arrogantly.Lord Zaphyr's face tightened with frustration. His fists clenched at his sides, knuckles white with anger. Despite his divine power, he felt a deep sense of helplessness. As a god, he was bound by rules and could not directly involve himself in the war. He looked at Queen Irna with regret."Tonight, I will take my revenge for killing my queen," he said, his voice trembling with a mix of grief and rage."I should have killed you when you turned my daughter into a monster." Queen Irna sneers. Edmond's smile disappears and is replaced with a snarl.Without another word, he lunged forward in one step at Queen Irna and ripped her heart out.A shock chained all of us in place."Well you missed your chance." He says and threw the heart on the ground.Stanely, me and everyone around us couldn't recover from the shock. My body froze at the sight of the Queen falling lifelessly on the ground, her eyes watching me. That was my breaking point."Queen Irna!" I screamed in horror. She collapsed into my arms, blood staining her lips. I leaned forward, desperate to hold onto her, but her head lolled to the side, still. Tears ran down my cheeks, mixed with the blood on her dress. The wolves surrounding me growled. Stanley, jolted from his shock, sprinted towards us. He held Queen Irna in his arms and shook her desperately. "Grandmother!" His cry echoed with agony.William's eyes glistened with tears as he looked at the fallen Queen, his face a mix of grief and rage. My own heart was burning with fury. I was sure that no vampires would survive the night.Edmond took a step forward, his gaze cold and calculating. My heart pounded with a fierce, uncontrollable rage. I closed my eyes tightly, taking a deep breath, then opened them summoning my powers. My body radiated heat, energy crackling at my fingertips as I extended my hands to the side, palms facing upward. Edmond flinched, his eyes locked on mine.. He began to back away, unable to tear his gaze from the power."Phasmatos Incendia," I recited the spell, and a white flame consumed my body, prepared to unleash the powers. When I opened my eyes, the entire field filled with Vampires began to burn on flames but the attack was not fatel as I wanted it to be. The eyes of the witches filled with shock as they witnessed the white flame.Edmond looked takenback. His black eyes were filled with rage and hatred."Kill everyone!" I commanded in high pitch. The wolves and witches collided, tearing the enemies apart. Wolves started to rip of the throats of vampires. Witches started to conjure all of their powers and directed them towards the vampires. I saw Terra, Amrin, Jasmin, and Susan on the front line. One by one, they started to burn the vampires while protecting us.Edmond took several steps back and stood in line with William. I marched towards Edmond. A vampire ran to me in a blur. I caught his throat without much effort to stop his fans from reaching my face and kicked him in the chest at the same time; his body burned within seconds before the ashes fell on the ground like dust particles. To my left, I saw some werewolves ripping off the necks of vampires. Some tried to throw a punch, but the wolves seemed to anticipate the movements and dodged it effortlessly. To my right, I saw Stanley snapping vampires necks with a harsh twist while killing others with his white flames. It was happening so fast that I couldn't follow his fighting form. It was elegant."Kill her." Edmond screamed to the witches. My eyes turned red.Sophia and the other witches came forward and formed a barrier to protect the vampires. It didn't stop me from marching forward in a slow and steady phase. The witches looked scared as death approached them. They all started to take several steps back while protecting their king. The head witch took brave steps towards me to protect her people. It was brave, I thought, but stupid. I summoned my powers to turn into a sword, and immediately a heavy metal sword with a sharp blade that could slice the thin air appeared in my hand. I was not good at swordfighting, but still, I would give it a try. I had the power of fallen witches to back me up.Sophia watched in horror as I'd sliced open their head and soft throat with a clear slice using my sword and let her drop to the floor, life force draining out bright. Sophia found herself unable to move, ensnared by how the rage and pain had sharpened her features and caused her dark power to glitter her eyes blindingly."It's a pity," I said and smiled."You think you can protect the vampires? Can you even protect yourselves?" I asked in a taunting way. They looked terrified. Sophia stood by William's side while his eyes were glued to mine. He didn't step back."You should stop this madness." I spoke to William one last time, hoping he would listen to me. His eyes narrowed and looked painful but were quickly replaced by anger."If you come with me, we can stop this." He said it in a cold tone."That will never happen, and you know that." I said in a neutral tone. William looked pissed."I will take you back with or without your consent." He said and walked close to Edmond, the other vampires just behind. Though they were all protected by the witches powers, they took precise steps towards Stanley, a contained dark strength simmering from their skin. Before I could take a step to help Stanley Sophia's dark magic capture me in place. A sudden blow of her magic hit me in full force and sent me flying several steps away. My chest tightened and coughed blood.William walked with arrogance. As he neared Stanley, he moved his focus to me, a note of apology in his eyes as he got closer. Edmond flicked his eyes hatefully at Stanley, who looked exhausted by fighting. Stanley looked defeated.I saw Stanley fighting off the vampires and running towards me. Edmond caught his throat and stopped him from moving while Stanley struggled against his hold. His magic was not working on them. William drew Stanley's sword from the ground and drove it into his heart.A sharp gasp escaped my mouth. William kicked Stanley from the back, and his body fell forward with a thud. A sharp pain clutched my heart, making me spit more blood.Sophia screamed in horror for her love, who did not belong to her. William and Edmond marched towards me while Sophia tried to go near Stanley. . A thick mist covered his body, refraining Sophia from going near him.I stood up from the ground with the support of my sword. Energy and powers drained away from me as I couldn't peel my eyes off his body. For a minute, time stopped. I gathered the little strength I had and took a few steps forward. My mind felt numb. The connection I had with him severed.Sophia looked shocked as her powers released me.I felt a hand taking hold of my right arm and gripping tightly, refraining me from taking another step. I looked at the hand and saw William's cold eyes."Let me go.""He is dead.""Let me go." I said tidly and tried to wriggle my hand free from his grasp. His hold on me became tighter as he pulled me towards him and made me look at him."Snap out of it, Kristen. He is dead. Now nothing can stop us from being together. Come with me." He pleaded.I felt the tears rush to my eyes. The darkness in his eyes receded and grew softer when I looked at him with tear-filled eyes. His gaze lowered before meeting my eyes once again. I did not see an ounce of guilt in his eyes. He killed his brother, who loved him dearly as his own.It was that very moment all the feeling of him left my heart and filled me with disappointment and rage.Once again, I called upon all my powers with the little energy I had. The powers were not coming to me as they did before, but I knew they were there. I silently prayed to the moon goddess. Give me strength. Give me my powers to end evil and bring peace upon the people. I shall not let history repeat itself. I prayed desperately."Kristen!" Edmond's voice rang out, desperate and pleading, trying to pull me back to reality.I took one last look at him, then placed my hand gently on his forehead. A powerful vision surged through him. He saw everything: how his father had manipulated his mother, tearing her from her first husband out of jealousy and love for her. He witnessed the murder of Stanley's father, the lies about Stanley's death, and the years of imprisonment and torture that followed. He saw Stanley's pain and longing to be with his stepbrother even while near death. The vision revealed how Edmond had tricked his mother into believing that the witches were enemies, manipulating her into thinking they were out to kill William. Every word Edmond had spoken to William was a lie, every action a deception. William learned that he had been nothing more than a pawn in Edmond's schemes, even using Kristen's powers for his own gain.William dropped to his knees, clutching his chest, his face twisted in agony. Edmond rushed to his side, trying to steady him. "William, snap out of it! This bitch tricked you!" Edmond shouted, his voice filled with panic.William eyes rolled back to its place and focused on the monster infront of him. He snatched his hand from his father's hold as tears stained his cheek. The look of disappointment on William's eyes made Edmond feel unease."What did the witch show you?" He asked looking pale. As he knew in his heart what she could have shown him."It was not the witches who killed mother. It was you." He said in a threatening tone.I walked into the protective circle around Stanley. I saw him lying down in a pool of blood. A crackling sound is all I heard before I summoned the healing powers. The pressure that I felt around me threatened to squeeze the life out of me with the little energy i had. I gasped for breath as the feeling of falling took over me as I fell onto my knees coughing blood. The wind roared past my ears, and my vision blurred with the effort. My ears were ringing and my stomach churned, making me feel nausea. As the pressure increased I squeezed my eyes tightly and placed my palms over his wound on his chest. Pain danced on my forehead and goosebumps surfaced on my skin.I pressed my palms over Stanley's wound, trembling as pain ran through me. My forehead was wet with sweat, and goosebumps pricked my skin. The fear and anxiety made my ears ring, and waves of dread swept through my stomach, making it difficult to stay focused. Every second felt like an eternity, and seeing Stanley in pain only intensified my own.Tears streamed down my face, blending with the blood on my lips. Each throb of pain was a cruel reminder of how deeply I felt for him, and how much his suffering was tearing me apart. As I poured my remaining strength into healing him, my entire world seemed to narrow to the desperate need to save him.I prayed to the moon goddess, crying loudly to save him. His face changed color as the life force was slowly draining out his wound. He coughed more blood."Kristen, stop," Stanley rasped, his voice rough and strained."It's okay," he murmured softly, his eyes full of warmth despite his pain. He reached up with a trembling hand and brushed away a tear that had slipped down my cheek. His face, though pale and bloodied, showed worry as he looked at me."Stop. You will kill yourself," he said, his voice barely above a whisper.I placed a gentle hand on his blood-streaked cheek, my heart aching at the sight of him in such agony. "I will save you," I said firmly, my voice cracking with pain and exhaution."Everything will be alright. It should be. I will protect you," I repeated over and over, as if trying to convince both of us. I pressed my hands firmly against his wound, trying to stem the flow of blood. Stanley's once vibrant blue eyes began to close, the light in them dimming as he struggled to stay conscious."Stanley, please stay with me. Please," I begged, my voice breaking as I cried out for him to hold on.Sophia appeared at my side, her eyes also filled with tears. "I can save him," she offered, her voice trembling.I looked up at her with death glare. "Go away before I kill you."The faintest of smiles played on his lips as if he found comfort in my presence despite the grave situation. His hand, though weak, held mine with a reassuring grip, a silent promise that he was there for me."I loved him just the way you did. Let me help him." She pleaded with me. "With your energy you cannot save him. He do not have much time. Let me help." She begs again.I looked at Sophia, unsure of her intentions, but all that mattered was saving Stanley. My focus was solely on him. I nodded at her.Stanley's eyes fluttered open when he saw her stepping into the magic barrier. Hatred flashed across his face as he locked eyes with her. Sophia hesitated, her gaze wavering before she extended her hand and summoned her dark powers. She directed the energy towards Stanley, but his body repelled her magic, a visible force pushing against her efforts. She tried harder and tried to force more power into him."Stanley, please," I begged, my voice choked with emotion as I pleaded for him to accept her help. His gaze shifted from me to Sophia. Sophia poured all her energy into the spell, but the magic violently backfired. In an instant, she was thrown out of the barrier, hitting the ground with a heavy thud and coughing up blood.I looked at her in shock. She spat out more blood, her eyes filled with a mixture of hatred and sorrow. "Even at the brink of death, you refuse to accept me?" she asked Stanley, her voice strained and tearful. "At least let me save you," She said heaving for air.He turned his head slowly and looked at me. "My body and soul belongs to you. Even in death." He said as blood stared to drip from his lips."No, no, please," I cried harder, clutching him close to my chest. "I beg you. Don't leave me." He slowly pulled my hand away from his cheek and covered it with his. I felt a warmth pass through it and when let go of it I saw the wedding ring placed in my ring finger.I smiled and cried. "You are my wife. In this life and next. We belong to each other." My gaze blinking pleadingly up at him. His voice slowly trailed off, his eyes sad as he gazed over at me with a small smile drawing his final breath. "No..." I roared. My heart thumped painfully.I painful ache wrapped my chest and there was nothing but pain. I knew what to do.I closed my eyes tightly, summoning the red flame of Queen Amanda, knowing how dangerous it was but feeling I had no other choice. My body was enveloped in intense red flames as i summoned the dark magic. I prayed to her and the moon goddess desperately to save him. My body felt hot as the powers filled my veins and restored my energy. As I opened my eyes, the red flames flickered around me, except for the hand that I stretched out over Stanley's chest. Confusion clouded my thoughts—why weren't the flames consuming me? Instead, they seemed to enhance my ability to heal him. I was confused for a moment. I didn't know what was happening. The dark powers was not consuming me but it helped me heal his wound.I focused all my energy on the healing power, channeling it into his body. My hands shook as I poured every ounce of my strength into the effort. Slowly, I saw the wound on his chest begin to close, and the pallor of his face started to return. His eyes fluttered open, showing a flicker of life."Mother?" he murmured, his gaze locking onto my face. His confusion puzzled me; I didn't understand why he was calling me that. He tried to sit up, reaching out to hold me close, but my body felt numb and distant, as if I were trapped inside someone else's skin. I struggled to speak, but the words stuck in my throat, my own voice seemingly beyond my control."Kristen," he said softly, his hand moving on its own to touch his cheek. I tried to fight against the strange paralysis, my mind straining to break free from the grip of the red flames. But the fiery aura overwhelmed me, pushing me back and leaving me powerless in my own body.My body stood up and took a step from the barrier facing the King. He had a shocked expression on his face and tears welled up in his eyes."Amanda" He stuttered. I was confused once again. Did I make a mistake by summoning the late Queen's power? Did she took over my body? Too many questions swam in my mind and I struggled to break free."Edmond." I said but my voice was not of my own. I moved close to him and he ran to me and hugged me."Amanda." He said her name again and hugged my body. Disgust filled my stomach by the way he touched me. I was trying hard to break free from his hold but her powers kept me in place. She pulled away slowly from him and smiled at him. He cried his heart out falling on his knees. For some reason I couldnt help but look at him. He looked genuinely happy to see his wife. His love for her was truth and the longing feeling for her shined in his eyes."Why?" She asked him.He looked up at her and stood up wiping the tears off his eyes like a teenager who is confessing his love to her. He looked vulnerable. Tears fell from my eyes mixed with her feelings for him."You could have just confessed to me." She said.He looked ashamed. "I am sorry. I wanted to but it was too late. You fell in love with Paul. I couldnt do anything. Whatever I did was for you and your love. Forgive me." He pleaded to her."I forgive you." She said with a smile."You must let go of this madness." She said looking around the vampires and the witches and her eyes stopped at her mother dead body. Her eyes teard up."Stay with me." He says pleading her with his eyes. She smiled gently, her gaze softening as she looked at William. Stepping closer to him, her eyes held a deep, tender affection. William's face mirrored shock, as if he were seeing a ghost."You must let her go. She belongs to your brother," she said calmly. William stood motionless, tears welling up in his eyes as he stared at his mother. She turned her attention to Stanley, who looked like a child lost and abandoned. She offered him a comforting smile and took his hand in hers."I am sorry," she whispered, her voice filled with sorrow. Stanley's tears flowed more freely, his emotions raw and vulnerable. "You are my firstborn. You are the King who will rule over the world," she said. Stanley looked up at her with sad eyes."Protect your brother." She says and steps back to the barrier circle formed by me.I felt the warmth disappear from my body and suddenly a figure took form infront of me like a white fog."Forgive me for taking over your body, Kristen," she said with a serene smile. "You will become a great Queen. Your parents are so proud of you, you must know that." Tears streamed down my face as I nodded, my heart heavy. The figure slowly vanished into the moonlight, leaving a sense of bittersweet peace.Edmond's face twisted with rage as he brandished his sword, glaring at me. "Bring her back!" he demanded, his voice echoing with fury."She is gone," I replied softly."Then you have no purpose to live," Edmond sneered, his hand closing around my neck with brutal force. His grip tightened, threatening to snap it with any sudden move. Shock rippled through the people around me."Father, let her go." William hissed."You fool," Edmond scoffed, his eyes cold and unfeeling. "Did you think I let her live just to give her back to you? She carries your mother's power inside her. I kept her alive only to bring Amanda back."With each word, he increased the pressure on my neck, choking me harder. I gasped for breath, my vision blurring as the pain intensified."Let her go," Stanley growled, his voice low and menacing. His eyes burned with a fierce determination as he summoned his powers into his sword."Bring her back," Stanley roared, his voice echoing with authority and rage."I can't," I managed to croak out, struggling to breathe."Then go to her," Edmond said in a harsh, animalistic tone. Before he could twist my neck, a gasp of shock escaped him. His fingers loosened, and I stumbled forward.I heard him gasp in shock. His fingers loosing around my neck and made me stumble forward. Stanley caught me in his arms and pulled me away from him. We all looked at Edmond who stood motion less with his eyes wide and blood dripping from his chest. I saw a figure emerge from behind him."Renold." Edmond said coughing blood. His face seemed familiar to me but I do not recall who he is. He summoned a dagger like weapon and stabbed King Edmond in the heart. The dagger emitted a blue flame that began to burn birghtly succing out all the magic powers which was protecting him. The dagger sucked all the powers into it. " Do not blame me. You don't deserve to live after what you did to my sister. This is my revenge." He said and twisted the dagger in his heart. His body started to change color and soon turned into ashes and fell on his feet.He turned around and looked at us. He smiled at us. "He was not meant to die in your hands Kristen. I took my revenge." He said casually."Uncle?" William asked unsure. He smiled at his niece. "You remember me?" He asked affectionately. WIlliam displayed a pained smile.Renold neard me cautiously when Stanley stepped infront of me covering me with his body protectively.Renold smiled at him. "I am Amanda's brother." He informs Stanley."Can I speak to your wife?" He asks.Stanley nod and took a step away from me but not far.Renold locked gaze with me for a second before he spoke."You have great powers within you, child. I hope you use them for a good cause and avoid repeating what you just did," he said sternly. I couldn't meet his gaze, staring at the ground instead."I know," I replied, my voice heavy with shame for having summoned the late queen's powers."Your purpose is to save people from destruction, not to lead them into it. Remember that always. The moon goddess protected you because you have a pure soul," he continued, his tone softening but still firm. He then drew his dagger and held it up, a symbol of both warning and guidance. Stanley's hand tightened around mine, his grip reassuring as he stood by my side.Renold smiled gently. "You must return the stolen powers from the late Queen," he said, extending his dagger towards me.Confusion crossed my face as I looked at him."Give me your palm," he instructed.I held out my hand, and he made a small cut on it before chanting a spell. As he spoke the incantation, the dark magic began to leave my body, swirling into the dagger. The sensation gripped my heart, and I gasped in pain. Stanley moved to intervene, but Renold stopped him with a simple gesture of his hand. After a few agonizing moments, the dark magic was completely absorbed into the dagger. My healing powers emerged, closing the cut on my palm. Renold glanced at the dagger one last time, then looked up at the moon. The dagger seemed to lift on its own and vanished into the sky."My work here is done. I wish you good luck," Renold said, pausing before adding, "My Queen," with a respectful bow. He then turned and walked away.I looked around at the assembled crowd—the werewolves, witches, and vampires—all standing together in an uneasy unity. Their eyes were filled with hope, a sight I had never seen before: different races united for the first time.William looked at everyone and took the initiative.William knelt before me, one leg down and head bowed in reverence. "My Queen," he said with grace.Without hesitation, the vampires and witches who had fought beside him followed suit, kneeling in respect. The werewolves and others soon joined them. Finally, Stanley offered me a proud smile as he too knelt, saying, "My Queen." I stood there, stunned and overwhelmed.A wave of confidence surged within me, surprising even myself. I found my voice, commanding with a newfound authority, "Rise."As the crowd stood, Terra emerged from the woods, dragging Sophia, bound and silent. She forced Sophia to kneel before me, her eyes fixed firmly on the ground."What should we do about her?" Terra asked, her tone resolute.Sophia remained silent, her gaze downward. I could see the shame in her posture. "Stand up," I commanded. She slowly rose, still refusing to meet my eyes. "I know what I did was wrong," she said, her voice filled with regret. "I thought he was meant for me. When his soul rejected my powers, I realized the truth."Despite the pain she had caused me and Stanley, I struggled with the idea of ending her life. I needed to see her face. "Look at me," I said firmly.Sophia lifted her head, her eyes meeting mine with a mixture of defiance and sorrow. She hesitated before meeting my gaze. "Do you know why I let you live?" I asked. Her silence spoke volumes."Because I never sensed any true evil in you," I continued. "I knew you fought for what you believed was love, but you were misguided."Sophia's confusion was evident. "Do you remember your grandmother's words?" I prompted. She furrowed her brow, trying to recall. "She said I was blessed with two mates—one good and one evil. I had to choose.""And you chose Stanley," I said. She nodded in agreement. "But you never sought out the other mate. That was your mistake.""What do you mean?" Sophia asked, her confusion growing."If you had made the effort to look for the other, you might have realized that your grandmother's words weren't about good and evil but about right and wrong," I explained, glancing at William. He looked back at me with a puzzled expression."When you met William before the war, did you feel anything?" I asked. She thought for a moment. "I felt a faint connection, but I thought it was just his kindness."I smiled. "You belong with him, Sophia." Both William and Sophia looked at me, astonished."What?" they asked in unison."Kristen, I loved you and only you," William said, his voice filled with frustration. "I know I hurt you in many ways, but don't let assumptions keep me away.""I understand, William," I replied softly. "I'm grateful for your love, but have you ever considered it might have been influenced by the lies your father fed you?"I looked him in the eyes. "Now, honestly, have you never felt the mate pull from Sophia?"He hesitated, then admitted, "I did."Sophia's eyes widened in shock. I took her hand gently, offering a reassuring smile. She looked uncertain but didn't pull away."Sophia, you are not evil," I said kindly. "You closed your heart and failed to see what was truly meant for you. Your destructive powers clouded your judgment."After a brief pause, I continued, "I can't allow that to happen again.""What's going to happen to me?" Sophia asked nervously."Will you accept your true mate?" I asked, hoping for a positive answer. She hesitated, glancing at Stanley, who remained expressionless. "I'll try, if he's willing to accept me after everything I've done," she said quietly.William's gaze shifted from me to her. He knew in his heart that Sophia was his true mate. Despite his love for me, he understood that she fought for him during a war she didn't belong in, all while knowing her mate loved someone else. He saw her struggle and sacrifice, and it touched him deeply."I'm ready to forget the past and start anew," I said with a smile.Sophia looked at me with tear-filled eyes. "I'm sorry for everything I've done. I truly wish we had met under different circumstances. I think we could have been friends.""There's still a chance, Sophia," I said gently. "Despite everything, I remember the choice you made to save my life, even at the risk of your own. I hope we can be friends again if you're open to it."Sophia's tears fell freely as she looked at me. "I'm so sorry," she said, hugging me tightly.I felt tears streaming down my face as well. She pulled away and wiped her eyes, standing tall. "My queen," she said with newfound acceptance.I smiled and nodded at William. "Take your mate," I said softly. William returned the smile, his eyes reflecting gratitude and hope.I know that I can't force anyone to forgive or forget easily, and I understand it will take time. We've lost too many lives, and I refuse to let anyone else die. While I'm unsure if I'll be a good Queen, I am determined to protect my people at all costs.A few months later...The mourning period for Queen Irna has ended. Her absence is still deeply felt, and Stanley has since been crowned King of Forks Land. William has returned to his land after the war, but we haven't heard from him since. The werewolves stayed with us for a while, thanks to my persistent requests to Jackson. I even visited their land with Stanley. It was even more magnificent than I had imagined from stories, and their people welcomed me warmly, as if I were one of their own.The surprise and awe on their faces puzzled me at first, but I soon understood why. As I entered their pack house, I saw a portrait of Jackson's late Luna, who looked exactly like me—like my twin. Stanley's troubled expression as he saw the portrait made everything clear."She is my Luna," Jackson explained as he entered with a tray of food.Stanley was at a loss for words, not sure how to respond. "Did you have a twin?" he asked me hesitantly.Jackson's laughter filled the room. "I met my Luna before Kristen was born," he said, easing Stanley's tension.Stanley let out a relieved breath, and we all laughed at the mix-up. Jackson's serious tone suddenly shifted the mood. "I honestly thought I might have to fight another war to protect my wife," he said, making us all go silent."You're right," Jackson continued, a serious tone replacing his casual demeanor. "When I first saw Kristen in the human world, my instinct was to take her back with me and make her mine."Stanley stiffened beside me, his powers flaring at his fingertips as if ready to lash out at Jackson. Jackson, unfazed, flashed a casual smile. "I'm not stupid enough to do that, Stanley. Relax," he said, settling into his couch with ease. "I know you're not her, but you're quite similar."Stanley's unease was palpable, and I found myself unsure how to react. Jackson's comments seemed to unsettle both of us."We werewolves are blessed with only one mate for life," Jackson said, his gaze turning wistful as he looked at the portrait of his Luna. "She was my true love." His voice carried a trace of sorrow. He continued, "Even though you remind me of her, I have no ill intentions. You are my Queen, and I promised the late Queen Irna to protect you. I will honor that promise for as long as I live." His eyes held a sincerity I couldn't ignore, though I sensed something lingering beneath the surface.Jackson's gaze shifted back to Stanley. "You're welcome to visit our land anytime. We are your allies, King Stanley," he said proudly.I smiled, feeling the weight of the title on my tongue. "Thank you, Alpha."Jackson's expression softened into the warm, familiar smile he wore when we first met. "For you, my Queen, I will always be Jackson," he said with a wink.Stanley cleared his throat and stood up, his displeasure evident. "We should get going now," he said, his tone clipped. As we made our way back to Forks Land, I couldn't help but smile at the way he brooded beside me."What's wrong?" I asked, a teasing note in my voice. He avoided my gaze, his expression dark. "You tell me," he replied, clearly irked."Are you that jealous?" I laughed, enjoying his frown."And you're clearly enjoying all the attention, my Queen," he said, turning away.I laughed again and hurried after him to our room. He tossed his jacket onto the bed, his annoyance palpable."Are you annoyed that people love their Queen?" I asked, struggling to hold back my laughter. He looked endearingly flustered.Without warning, he pinned me against the wall, his body pressing firmly against mine. I gasped at the sudden closeness. "I am jealous," he admitted, his voice low and intense. "I can't stand it when someone looks at you like that.""I love you and only you," I whispered, smiling as I leaned in to kiss his soft lips.He lifted me off the floor with ease, his strong arms cradling me as he carried me to the bed. His lips never left mine, the kiss was deeper with passion. As he gently laid me down, his gaze sent shivers down my spine.Stanley's hands moved slowly, exploring every inch of me which made my heart race. His touch was both tender and urgent, as if he wanted to memorize every curve, every line. I could feel the heat radiating from his body, mingling with my own, creating a desire. His fingers tangled in my hair, tilting my head back as he trailed kisses down my neck, his breath hot against my skin. I arched into him, a soft moan escaping my lips. The world outside our room ceased to exist. There was only him and me, wrapped in love. He whispered my name, his voice thick with emotion. I responded with my hands roaming over his back, pulling him closer. Our bodies moving together in perfect harmony. As we reached the peak of our passion, our surroundings melted away completely. Time stood still, and in that moment, there was nothing but us, lost in the pure, unfiltered expression of our love. We clung to each other, our breaths mingling, hearts beating as one.We collapsed together on the bed. Stanley wrapped his arms around me, pulling me close. I snuggled into his arms, feeling the steady rise and fall of his chest."I love you," he murmured, his voice soft."I love you too," I replied with a smile.THE END.
