Chapter 7 - Adios

Scarlet's POV ...

Today is my last day at The Classic Maiden. I need to go there this day to get all my things there. My parents also talked already with our principal for her consent.

At first, she asked why, but we just said that it is for personal matters. I am glad she did not bother to ask again. We can't tell her about my situation.

Of course, I also want to formally say farewell to my childhood best friends.

Honestly, I do not know what to say to them. When I am imagining how can I tell them, I might just cry. We have been there together for almost our lives.

Beth even called me a while ago, but I am not answering it because I can't. She also sent me some text messages. She was asked where I was, why did not I go to school, is there was any problem. I did not respond to her because I am still gathering the courage to tell them.

I looked at my watch to see what time it is. It is already 10:30 am.

I went downstairs now because dad is waiting for me. My dad will go with me to school.

I am now in the living room, dad told me that he will wait here for me. But he is nowhere to find here. I decided to ask my mom while she is doing some of her paper works.

"Mom? Where is dad?" She stopped doing what she is doing.

"Come here." She patted the vacant seat of the sofa beside her. I went and sat there.

"Your father is in the parking lot. I said to him that he should already go there first because l have something to tell you." She seriously said.

"What is it, mom?"

"I know saying goodbye to your best friends really breaks your heart. I just want to tell you that you are such a brave woman right now. You are leaving your life to take the real path for yourself. Always think that leaving them would be worth it."

Why is she randomly telling this to me?

"Yes mom, I will think that."

She just smiled.

"Okay, you must go now to our parking lot because your father is waiting for you there. You two take care."

I stood up, "Bye mom." I kissed her on her cheeks.

I went to our parking lot, and I saw dad that he is waiting for me in the driver's seat of his car. I immediately went inside the car.

"Are you ready?"

"Yes dad, we should go now." He started the engine of the car and then he started driving.

My dad and I were just quiet. He is simply driving, and I am simply looking outside.

How peaceful the place is and how natural all the people here are. Oh my gosh, I would really miss this city.

While I was looking around, I was thinking about how l can say my goodbye speech to my best friends. How do I start telling them that I would leave them for a long time? I hope they won't cry because it would make me also burst my tears.

Am I really doing this? Yeah, I must do this.

I saw a jewelry store and I had an idea.

"Dad!"

"Yes? What is it? You startled me."

"Dad, I want to go first to the jewelry store that we passed through."

He started to drive slowly.

"Where? Is it still near us?"

"Yes, it is just close to us."

He turned a U-turn and then I pointed him to the jewelry store.

"By the way, why are we going here?" He bothered to ask. Maybe he is wondering because all of sudden, I just said that I want to go to the jewelry store.

"I want to buy something for Beth and Elly before I will leave them."

"All right as long as you hurry because we are catching your things at school. I will wait for you here in the car."

He parked the car in front of the jewelry store and moved out immediately.

Once I stepped inside the store, I saw many precious necklaces and bracelets. I went near to look at them one by one.

"Hello ma'am, how can I help you?" The saleslady asked me.

"I am looking for a minimal necklace. Do you have some?"

"Yes ma'am, here are our designs, freely pick some." She showed me where the minimal necklaces are.

Wow, they are really pretty. I saw a design. It is simple, elegant, and so chic. It is gold and has very cute details. I want this and I know that Beth and Elly would also like this.

"Do you have like three stocks of this necklace?" I pointed at it.

"Oh, that is our tala necklace ma'am. Good choice because it is one of our best sellers. You are also in luck because we have three more stocks, and they are already the last ones. We will never release this design again." She shared.

"Well, I guess I am really in luck. I would get three please and put them in separate paper bags. Thank you."

"Right away ma'am. I will just put it in its box and package it well. Kindly go and pay there to the cashier. I will bring your necklaces there once I am done packing it."

She showed me the cashier. I smiled at her and then went to the cashier area to pay.

...

"You have already bought?" I am here back in the car, and I am already with the necklaces.

"Yes, dad and they are super cute. I got one for me, one for Beth, and one for Elly," I smiled.

"Yeah, looks like they are really expensive. Do you want more money-"

"No dad it is fine. I want to buy them these so that we will remember each other even though we are not together."

"You really love your best friends. I know that you guys will really miss each other, and you are really sad because you have to leave them. But Scarlet, always think that you are leaving them for a really good and reasonable reason. Maybe, for now, they would not understand you, but the day will come, and they will already." He advised me.

"Yes, dad. That was also what mom said to me. She said that leaving them would be worth it."

"Okay then, buckle up your seatbelt because we will continue heading to your school."

We are here now at The Classic Maiden. I am observing every each of this school's parts. The buildings, canteen, field, and the forest near it. I suddenly remembered what happened there.

I think it is already their lunch break time. I checked the time, and it is already almost 12:00 noon.

"Okay, so I think you should go talk to your friends and I will be the one taking care of your things." He instructed me.

"Here are the keys to my locker, dad." I gave him my keys.

"Okay, you should go now. We will just meet here at the car once we are both done." I nodded at him, and I already went out.

Maybe they are just at the benches because we spend the most time, especially lunchtime there.

I walked fast to find them, and I saw them sitting. They are both eating their lunches. I am walking behind them that is why they have no idea that I am here. Until I decided to scare them.

"Ahhh!" Beth freaked out after I suddenly hold their both shoulders. They looked at me both.

"My gosh Scarlet! You scared me!" Beth said and she almost throws her food.

"I am sorry, hahaha." I realized that this would be the last time that I can scare them.

"Come here sit with us, where have you been?" Elly asked.

"Yeah, why did not you go to school? Are you feeling bad?" Beth continued asking.

"Shh stop with your questions. I will answer them one by one, and no, I am not sick, and I am perfectly healthy," I said.

"Then why didn't you come to school? We had a lot of stress a while ago because of tons of quizzes. You should talk to our teachers so that-" I did not let Beth finish what she is saying.

"I am already leaving." They curiously looked at me.

"What? Where are you going? You never told us any plans." Elly was very curious about it.

"It is confidential. I am not allowed to tell you, guys. What I can tell you is that I am going to study in other schools." I smiled at them. I can see Beth start to cry. This is the part that I do not like.

"Why? We are your best friends. Is that very confidential?" Elly was continuing asking while Beth was just looking at me and then starting to cry.

"I am sorry Elly. It is really confidential. I hope you understand."

I looked at Beth.

"Beth, do not cry anymore. You are making me cry also. Here I have something for you guys." I gave each of the necklaces that bought for the three of us.

"We each have one like that."

They started to open it.

"Aww. It is really beautiful." Beth hugged me.

"We will miss you," She continued. I looked at Elly and she was just smiling at me.

"I will also miss the both of you."

Until the next time, I will see you again, Elly and Beth. You have been part of my life since we were kids. You both will always have a place in my heart.
