Chapter 2 - Chapter Two

Then there was also passionate love, the kind that exists between two lovers. Suddenly, like a light switch turning on, he could understand what he felt way back then when he was out on the green fields playing with Jacqueline, running around and getting dirtied up by the mud. Shane smiled to himself remembering those times.

Again, Shane wasn't one to be obsessed with himself and being arrogant about it, that is why he would never believe it if someone told him he was good looking even when they say that 'beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder' He was just that humble.

He was a brunette-haired Sligonian lad with eyes that reflected the rising of the sun in the early hours of a summery morning, his cheekbones looked sculpted like an artwork carved out by an artist and he had a bronze lightskin which was as a result of his long hours of riding his favorite horse Carlton Clover out in the sun. He was also the seventh and last child of his parents, he had only one sister while the rests were brothers. His siblings travel a lot as they have their own businesses in other parts of the world which is why he's the only one left at home with his parents. Not that he was complaining because his parents were truly amazing with him, he just misses his siblings. And since his only sister Mairead was away, he was the one helping out his mother to run her cafe during the weekends.

But today is a school day which is why Shane had already prepared himself to get to school. He swung his backpack over one shoulder and plugged in one of his earphones. A classic 'Michael Jackson' song was blasting in the tiny speakers. He idolized the singer and had always felt inspired by his music to do better and improve his singing. This was also the reason he could never miss music class in school with his best friends. With big dreams and supportive parents, he was able to set up a small band with his best buddies.

Humming to the music, Shane straightened up his black denim jacket and tucked his hands inside his blue denims pants ready to head out.

"Mom, I'm off to school!" He called out to Mae, as he was walking out of his room.

Mae was just coming out of the kitchen with a tray of yummy food, she placed the tray on the table in the living room where she met her son and the aroma of the delicious meal she cooked immediately assaulted Shane's nostrils.

God, he was blessed to have her. He thought in his mind.

"No, no, baby. Not again today, you're not leaving for school until you've eaten the food I cooked specially for you." Mae told her son trying her hardest to appear stern before him, which is seemingly very difficult as Shane was one of the sweetest humans anyone could ever come across.

Shane smiled at her in the most heartwarming way, hoping that would do the trick.

"Oh no, and that too. That little devious smile of yours that crinkles your eyes ain't gonna work on me this time sweetie." She crossed her arms inorder to prove a point that she wasn't about to give in, not even in the slightest this time.

"Oh my! Mom, I ... the food smells delicious and looks tasty but.. look, mom I'm late for class and I'm gonna have band rehearsals with the lads soon after. So I really gotta run..."

Mae sighed dramatically, "Okay, okay I know that. Wouldn't want you to be late for school but I also don't want you missing any meals. Look! you're getting thin these days." She complained.

Shane could almost chuckle, he was only four inches taller than his mother and he wasn't exactly lanky, he had lean muscle mass and a toned physique, definitely what he would describe as 'healthy' in his own eyes, well his mom on the other hand, mothers though! Their growing teenage kid always appear skinny in their eyes no matter how they look. He's a growing eighteen year old, of course this'll be the right size for most people his age.

"Now mom, you're just exaggerating." He says to her fondly before wrapping her smaller build in an affectionate hug.

"I'm not tho, I promise to fatten you up by the end of summer. So run along sweetie. I love you!"

Shane chuckled and gave her a peck on her cheek

"I love you too mom." He said to her, then pulled the front door of their house open and walked out.
