Chapter 2 - Training

The next morning started similarly to yesterday, with the main exception being that the cooking servant had been permanently removed from the manor. Sky walked down the staircase looking just a hair more filled out.

"Sky! There you are!" Chrysler said excitedly, waving him over. Sky looked a little bit confused but obliged him. "I was thinking we could go above ground and practice your new abilities. What do you think?" Sky thought about it for a minute or two and finally nodded. Chrysler had obviously not expected him to agree so easily. "Well why don't you go and get a couple changes of clothes seeing as you might ruin a few pairs practicing your shifting."

Sky jogged up to his room to grab a few sets of clothes and noticed something odd. All the bedsheets were curled up at the foot of the bed making it almost like a nest. he shrugged it off as a new thing and stuffed some of his clothes into a bag.

"So what are we going to practice first?" Sky asked Chrysler as they walked through the woods. Chrysler had picked their route, specifically to lead them away from the werewolf pack. But of course, he didn't tell this to Sky. "Shifting? Testing my new senses?" Sky said to Chrysler jumping over a fallen tree.

"Meditation." stated Chrysler simply. Sky looked at him with a befuddled look so Chrysler decided to explain, "You need to practice meditation because you need to become in tune with your inner wolf. Great and powerful fae have meditated for centuries to get truly powerful."

Sky looked at him out of the corner of his eye, "Yeah I know that, but I'm not a fae I'm a werewolf. I think that you should maybe give me some mild tips but I think that I should mainly practice on my own." Chrysler contemplated this for a moment before simply shrugging his shoulders in agreement. After all what did he know? "Any advice on how to shift?" Sky asked Chrysler.

Chrysler thought for a moment and said, "Maybe you could try focusing your energy in your body concentrating in your chest and expanding outwards to fill the rest of you?" he suggested. Sky shrugged and decided to do what Chrysler suggested. Sky sat down and started to imagine the energy in his body flowing into his chest. Sky could feel some coarse hair growing on his chest as well.

"I think that it's going to work." Sky said through clenched teeth. After he decided that he had gotten enough energy in his chest he imagined a small ball cracking and releasing it's energy in a large burst. Since Sky was consciously going through the shift he could feel everything that came with it. He could feel his bones shifting to make his limbs longer, his ribs cracking and reforming to encompass his growing mass, and the most extreme feeling would be the stretching of the skin on his face into a snout. All in all the process took about 30 seconds and hurt only a little, it just felt really weird. Chrysler looked up at Sky with pride on his face, but behind this pride there was a little bit of fear. Sky loomed over Chrysler built like a guard tower with power radiating of off him. Sky tilted his head up to the sky and took a deep sniff.

'I think there's something this way' Sky said.

Chrysler took a step back. "What was that? I just heard your voice in my head Sky. What did you do?"

'I don't know' Sky said with a shrug that looked comical with his large body. 'Maybe it's a werewolf thing?'

Chrysler thought for a moment before saying, "That could be true. If I was a werewolf I wouldn't want it known that we have the ability to communicate instantly and silently, you know?" Sky nodded

Sky gestured for Chrysler to follow before jogging off into the woods. Chrysler had to full out sprint to catch up to Sky and ran into him when he stopped. They looked out at a clearing in the forest and saw a couple of deer grazing. Sky's pupils had completely dilated and he looked like he was fighting himself not to lunge out and attack the deer. Chrysler tapped him on the shoulder and nodded at the deer. "Go wild out there son." Chrysler stepped back and watched the carnage.

Sky ran out there loudly scaring off most of the deer except a few of the slower ones. Chrysler stayed in the background as fae didn't care for gore or eating raw meat. Sky tore into the first deer and snapped its neck, ran off to a second deer bit its neck open severing the arteries. All of this happened in about one minutes leaving Sky's fur stained crimson. He leaned down into the deer's chest and started tearing into it, getting even more crimson on his fur. Chrysler contemplated stopping him but decided against it, Sky was so physically aggressive right now that he might mistake Chrysler for an enemy. Just when Chrysler was starting to get bored from waiting Sky stood up and walked towards him.

'That was... weird. It felt almost like I wasn't in control of my body, like it was running on autopilot.' Sky said to Chrysler.

Chrysler thought for a minute before saying, "Maybe it was your wolf side coming out in force? Sort of like how a pipe builds up pressure by not letting water go through, you not doing anything wolfish in nature for 13 years built up pressure against your human side. Could that be it?" Sky simply shrugged his shoulders.

'We should return to the manor,' Sky pointed upwards, 'it's getting dark.' Chrysler nodded and the odd pair walked back to the manor. But what they didn't know was that the area that they had just been in was patrolled by the nearby werewolf pack.

When the moon was at its apex three wolves walked out of the underbrush. The wolves sniffed the air, talked for a little bit and came to a single conclusion. That a fae was harboring a rogue werewolf, a powerful one at that. The three wolves sniffed the air to make sure. After this they returned to their pack to tell their alpha the off-putting news.
