Eodum looked around with its new skill, [Arcane Perception], and the beauty that had emerged around it only increased in beauty and mysticalness/ Things that shouldn't have made sense were crystal clear to Eodum, and the world around was transformed. Of course, this wasn't at the top of Eodum's priorities. The thing at the top was the knowledge that had implanted itself into Eodum's mind.

The understanding of [Support Magic] had become part of Eodum, and an instinctual knowledge of what it was and how to utilize it became apparent. Shapes in dimensions that were impossible to imagine were somehow being viewed and understood by Eodum. Excited by the ideas that came to Eodum, it tried to use its new magical abilities.

… Nothing. Nothing? Nothing.

… Nothing!

Eodum was startled, irritated, and confused by its lack of strength boosting. It saw the complex shape in its mind, and Eodum could feel the complexity of it. The rat knew it wouldn't have been able to use its magic just like that, but it needed to start somewhere to progress. This? This was literally nothing. Not a single thing changed. Eodum mulled over its new knowledge, and it finally latched onto the reason behind its lack of support.

The ability to manipulate magic. That was the reason behind not being able to cast a spell. Eodum had no way to shape the magic around it. Thankfully, Eodum knew the exact way to gain this ability.

[Magic Shaping]

[The user can begin interacting with the magic around it, without the preset instructions provided by skills. Basic shapes can be formed from mana, limited by the complexity of the structure.]

[Cost: 6 SP]

There! The cost was expensive, but that was understandable because of the utility behind the skill. Every magic skill that had proficiency, mastery, or other additions would need the skill to manipulate the mana around the user. The other needed skill was something to view magic, but that was already obtained by Eodum's [Arcane Perception].

Once more, Eodum pictured something in its mind. What it wanted to achieve was a simple strength boosting spell, and thankfully, the spell was simple enough to shape. Of course, even as one of the simplest spells, the complexity behind its shape would most likely give an aneurysm to those without a skill capable of allowing them to handle the mental strain.

The shape was closest to that of an ovoid if you simplified it to the third dimension and stripped it of its mystical nature. The mana of the surroundings shaped into the ovoid-like structure, and Eodum's own mana began to fill up the structure. The shape was hollow, only giving a shape to be filled, and when Eodm filled the spell-shape, it activated. The two ends of the unimaginable shape began to close the distance on each other, pushing out the middle part. Then, the two ends passed through each other, and at imperceptible speed, wrapped its inside-out form around Eodm.

The spell shrunk down, collapsing on top of the rat, fitting to its skin. Part of it seemed to also sink below the rat's skin, mixing with its body, strengthening it. Magic, stronger than ever before, and cheaper too, made the muscles flex and unflex in painful contractions. Eodum crumpled to the dirt-formed floor, feeling itself scratching and gouging out ground beneath it, completely against its will.

One twitch here, and the incredible strength locked in Eodum's muscles flung it into the air, bashing against the ceiling of the room. Another unfortunate flex of Eodum's leg launched itself from the ceiling back into the floor below. A small crater formed in the ground, dirt being pushed away from Eodum in small piles. Eodum quickly cut the magic to the spell, letting the magic drain from the shape as it fell apart into shreds of mana. Soon after as well, the shreds too disintegrated into particles.

The alerted and agonized breathing of Eodum returned, first erratic and uncontrolled, slowly steadying into something slightly more stable. Eodum painfully rose to a stand, shaking legs from both exertion and pain wobbling underneath it. Its mind was racing, processing what had just happened to it. The first and foremost part of its brain processed that something must've gone wrong in the spell. Maybe it was too much magic, maybe it was shaped wrong, but whatever it was, the spell was a miscast.

The magic had entered Eodum's body and surrounded it like normal, but something must've caused its muscles to go into a frenzy. Eodum stretched slightly at the thought of it, but then, it quickly regretted the choice as its muscles shrilled in misery with the torn up muscles. Ow. It slowly moved back into a normal position, letting the damaged muscles go back into a normal, non-agonizing place.

It thought over its mistake, until the groaning, whimpering, and shuffling of Eodum's roommate drew its attention. It swiveled its head to see Kali, and it saw her trying to raise herself, left arm stuck out. She seemed to be trying to rise to a sitting position, but collapsed as her support didn't exist. Ah, she was awake.
