Chapter 76 - A Rat in the Starry Space of the Void

Eodum's heavy eyelids slowly rose to reveal the world to it. Its glowing white eyes seem brighter than before like a not-so-distant star shining brilliantly amongst the other duller celestial bodies. As its shining eyes moved about, slowly coming out of its evolution-induced sleep, the dazzling sight that it had missed in its rest flooded its still drowsy eyes. The empty black void that it had remembered glittered with hundreds of hundreds of stunning lights, and many stars began to form from those lights, fusing and combining into a greater whole.

As Eodum's head swiveled on its sluggish body, looking back and forth, it couldn't help but notice three specific celestial forms. One was a brilliant shining gold, with miasma-like purple dust forming clouds around it. It emitted a pleasant, warm feeling, something that felt holy and sacred. Despite the holy and divine feeling it left on those around it, the purple miasma-like clouds around it still felt ominous and dangerous.

The other burned a brilliant blazing crimson red, breathing a fiery and hot aura. The smoldering aura and light the star beamed from its body was still capable of being endured because of the two rings encircling the body. One was liquid and water, kept that way because of a strangely spiritual and magical property of the star. A similar magical property kept the other, larger ring frozen as ice instead of water like its twin bound.

The last celestial body was a blackhole; the emptiness in its form reflected the silky, dark fur of Eodum. An immense pressure radiates from the blackhole, along with a feeling of fear: fear of the unknown. The fear can be dismissed though because of the thousands of white shimmering lights encircling the gluttonous body. Everytime one of the revolving lights is devoured by the mighty form, a new one of varying size and brightness appears on the edge of the black hole's influence.

The three celestial forms stood out amongst their kin. Their impressive and unique features show power unlike those around them. The holy, the fire, the darkness. The three powers in this starry void. The vibrant white eyes of Eodum kept fixed on these bodies, feeling a deep sense of familiarity with each of them. Though, while the other two feel like someone Eodum knows, the black hole feels like looking in a mirror. A reflection of itself.

Pushing aside the strange sense of familiarity, Eodum refocused its attention on its own body. It seemed to have gotten slightly larger, about the size of a wolf now. The darkness of its fur stayed the same unlike its previous evolutions, but it now finds white glowing spots going across its body. They twinkled as Eodum moved, blinking in and out of sight. Those seemed to be all the physical changes, or at least at a basic check of its body. Of course, there were certain abilities that weren't visible, but instead mental, magical, or some new ability. In other words, status!

… Neat! There was a whole hell of a lot of skills added! Eodum was elated at the sudden gain in resistances and boosts. With all these added, basically every attack was boosted and improved; this was superb! For some reason as well, [Void Entry] and [Void Body] also leveled up, maybe it was because Eodum's bond with the void has improved. Speaking of which, because Eodum now knew the void was a living entity, it felt slightly uncomfortable at the thought of being inside it.

A portal that radiated the morning sun's golden rays of light opened in front of Eodum, and it promptly left without a second thought. The portal closed with the shifting of the void forming a hand to wav goodbye. Creepy.

Eodum landed with a thud in its now heavier and stronger form to see Sheila and Henry welcoming it back with a friendly smile. It did its best to smile back, twisting its inhuman facial muscles to match their own. They flinched back at the unnatural, malformed expression they were making, but pushed it aside knowing they've seen worse. The three began talking, discussing the changes that happened both in their world and in the void.

A shadow began shifting, rippling and varying in topography before it formed a human-esque shape. The shape began filling with color, becoming just a basic looking human. The woman's pale skin contrasted the black jacket and tank top she wore. On the back of her jacket was the symbol of a skeletal hand emerging from nowhere.. Around her neck was a silver chain necklace laced with red, matching her own silver hair with a streak of red. She wore tight, black pants and black stilettos making her slim 5'9" frame seem closer to 5'11". The balance it would take for one to stay steady with these shoes would already be quite impressive, but she still confidently strode across the room ending in a bow to an androgynous person sitting on a throne, "My lord, the Phi Squad in Nomed has been eliminated, and so has the rogue agent in Seelf."

The being let a thoughtful mumble escape from their lips and frowned, "Do we know anything about what happened in each area?"

"My lord, the city of Nomed has fallen because of a battle between itself and the joint forces of the Erup Empire and the Tolpetsaw kingdom. In Seelf, there were reports of monster and demons running around and escaping the city." The woman said while keeping her head down.

The man thought for a while, "Hmmm… Seelf's a part of the Erup Empire. Maybe the demons and monsters were thought to be from Nomed, but that has no relation to the Tolpetsaw Kingdom. Alright, send agents out to Seelf, the ruins of Nomed, the Tolpetsaw Kingdom, and neighboring settlements."

"Yes, my lord." The woman said as the shadows seemed to swallow her again. As she left, the man rested his chin on his hand.

"It appears there's going to be conflict between Erup and Tarlived. Now may be our chance." As he said that, a soft laugh left his lips, followed by more laughter. A flash of lightning hit behind him, illuminating the entire room in a quick spark of light. The sudden light reflected off the person's shining, metal bones, and their full metal mask. Two red eyes squinting in joy as the being continued with their laughter.
