I watched as the doctor came in and checked out Lucy to see what was wrong with her. Max paced back and forth with his hand on his waist and a hand brushing his chin. I put my hands together and leaned them on my mouth, my thumbs under my chin as I breathed out nervously.
"Is she okay?" I asked after a long silence in the room, not being able to help myself.
Philip pulled his stethoscope out of his ears and turned to look at me with a sigh. "She has a fever; a fever is a common sign of illness but that's not necessarily a bad thing. In fact, fevers seem to play a key role in fighting infections."
