This was the first time they've actually took in the view of Tillsberry.
It was amazing how the made the monotony of the same two colors look pleasing to the eye no matter how long you stared at it.
They looked less out of place with thier new clothing but that still didn't stop people from staring at faces like Belle and Will whose beauty and lustur was a cut above the rest.
This caused their vision to trail to Davie who looked as if he was a real pirate instilling some sort of fear into the hearts of anyone who wished to come closer to them. His looks really we're deceiving because the beautiful woman slung over his shoulders didnt seem to perpetuate a good image.
He walked through this unknowingly taking the slightly frightened looks as awe and admiration.
Will who had been walking around stopped at a stall.
During their travels through the town Will had been using his power to guide him through the compass. He tested it and found that channeling his luck into an item rather than himself allowed for more accuracy and precision when looking for things.
If were to just use his power to find a clue he probably would have wandered into a situation where he coincidentally found something he shouldn't have or coincidentally bumped into the owner of the stall.
Apathy who was "sleeping" had watched Will do this and had to hold in her surprise.
' He learned channelling without being taught and so fast?!??"
She felt in her pockets for one of her charms and let out a soft exhale. She was beginning to feel less and less special each day. She silently yawned and went back to sleep.
Meanwhile Will interacted with the stall owner.
He was a Middle aged man. His beard was dyed the same color of the Tillsberry and he looked like s happy man. He dressed up as a Jester. However this looked extremely comical for his body type. He was short and a bit pudgy not from a lack of food but more from alcohol consumption. You could smell the stench masked with sweet scent of a soap.
Will looked at him and didnt ask any questions about the town or the Tillsberry business. He simply asked
"Are you okay old man?"
The old mans smile twitched before returning to its grandeur.
" Would you like to buy any of my fruit? I have 2 whole Tilsberries. This islands main delecacy. They only grown in a specific area of this island and cannot be found anywhere else in the world. And i have two ripe ones right here! "
Will looked up at Davie who patted Apathy awake. She came to the front of the group after hopping off Davie's shoulders and looked at the stall owner.
She smiled politely. " I'll take them both and a regular apple please?"
The mans pupils dilated and his grin relaxed.
That will be 201 Riman silver. Even Belle scoffed at that price that meant the two fruit were each worth 100 silver.
Will curiously asked " Why is it so expensive?"
The shop owner rubbed his hands and refused to look up at them. He stared down at his feet and chuckled nervously.
"Im sorry I cant really tell you this. Its just because our fruit is so great and delicious. How about this You'll just buy the 1 and try it. I'll save the second one just for you if you like it!"
Apathy was about to decline the offer but Will touched her hand. This caused chills to run up her spine but she paused long enough for Will to pay for it with 1 Gold and a silver.
He didn't wait to see the man's reaction to them paying that amount for the fruit but he watched the other stalls around them. They all looked wearily in our direction. They all had the same catalog. Basic supplies and necessities. Some veered away from this pattern but they all managed to incorporate one thing into their franchise.
The fruit. The Tilsberry.
Will went into a deep contemplation.
From the moment you step onto this island your greeted with a group of people dressed in fantastical clothing swarming you and trying to sell their products to you and if they don't sell there is a secret group hidden amount the crowd waiting for you to slip up and use whatever abilities you have to escape the situation.
Then people ignoring the bodies that lay there not even chosing to make a comment or acknowledge their existence.
But what about the tourists? They did the exact same some with a bit of hesitation. It seems they they were all individually aware of the "follow the crowd mentality". But what about those who aren't where have they gone?
Then. You notice the monotony of seeing the same two colors so often but you pass it off as coincidence then you realize that its the entire town thats in on it. From the houses to the speech the fruit is always a centerpiece or a passing thought.
But the way the shop keeper was acting threw off Will. The smell of alcohol under his cheap soap. The dressing up as a Jester to attract more customers and while Apathy conversed with him Will noticed the stalls surrounding them all had at least 1 fruit left.
If going off the assumption they are only ever able to sell one why would there be a second one there?
Will thought about this long and hard but couldnt come to an answer.
But this time they had already walked to somewhere new. The area infront of them was a dirt road which had a sign that said.
"Processing Plant"
Will was about to step onto the path when a hand suddenly appeared before him. He turned to see and colorful young man. His hand was using the other arm as an extension.
" Virgil?"
He languidly bowed and nodded.
" I wouldn't step on that road if I were you"
Will was about to ask the obvious but before he could the mannequin arm was thrown into the shade under the path. Suddenly the shadows festered and the hand was slowly dragged into its embrace disappearing.
Davie was the first to come out of his shock.
" Woah...hands down the weirdest thing ive seen today "
