Four.
Dad came home early morning, shocked to see that the nursery had been finished with. Knocking on my door, he hadn't received an answer. He searched the whole house, including the back yard only to find me in the greenhouse picking ripe vegetables.
"Up and walking I see." He greeted, wrapping me in a hug when I turned.
"Hey I'm good." I laugh wrapping my arms around him.
After a while we pull away and I smile with curious eyes. "So what's the gender?"
"Boys."
"Boys?" I questioned.
"Twins. Their in NICU but they are doing amazing. Your mother will also be able to come home in a few days. Just wanted to see how you were doing before I grabbed some things on my way out."
"Oh. Um..yeah. I'm doing great. Going to the park later." I hum in response, watching as my father held his hand up and walked back inside.
Twins? Great. Double the trouble and both boys. She was small for her size to even have twins but a miracle works just as good as no other right? Sighing, I finish picking some vegetables stepping inside towards the kitchen.
Since it would be me, Sui and Louise tonight, I was going to make some veggie soup. Everyone's favorite.
I may have not went to culinary classes, but I have learned how to cook from my mother. The best cook that I've known. I learned from her since I was about five years old.
Started with kitchen safety, small easy meals off stove, and slowly I advanced as I learned and aged from the skills of my mother's hands to the pots on the stove and the ingredients mixed in. Filling the sink with water I tossed a variety of vegetables in there to soak in water.
Running into my father I wave goodbye. Grabbing my cell phone, I seen a message from the unknown number.
UNKNOWN NUMBER: See you soon.
Wolves flashed before my eyes, in many colors; tri-colored brown, white, black, brown, gray, and one was a explicit tri-colored wolf. The wolf had black, caramel brown, gray. Caramelized eye color with streaks of dark brown.
A pack showed up - a pack of wolves edging against each other cornering me up against a tree they surrounded my way out. And there was another wolf, by the edge who was white with grayish and blackish hues - his eyes were dark and fiery. He began baring his teeth, capturing the saliva on his tongue that slewed out.
Blinking I stumble back to grab hold of the counter. I took in a few deep breaths, collecting myself before I moved any further. Setting my phone down behind me, I dry the veggies and started to sliced before turning the crock pot on, filling it half way with water.
I dribbled some lemon olive oil in there, throwing in the veggies and ready to cook meat. Starting the timer, I threw in the seasonings placing the lid over the plugged in pot.
The visions and dreams were enough to give someone a headache. I still haven't quite told mother about them since she's such a visual person. I loved her, but sometimes I wish she hadn't birthed me with a thing I call a curse. I had even tried running away since I was a young one.
Shaking off the feeling the door opened and my presence was soon filled with laughter of my two favorite people. "You guys are early!" I rush over hugging them smiling.
"Yeah well Louise felt the need to come early." Sui answered unamused.
Watching as he went to the living room, I sigh and cross my arms over my chest. I could tell he was still upset about yesterday. It's like he didn't have a care in the world with me right now. It was sad and honestly I could drown myself in my own sorrows right now if I really wanted to.
"What's that all about?" Louise pointed out.
"Found something out about two days late and now he's beyond pissed with me." I smile kindly before offering a drink to which she turned down, helping herself to the snacks in the kitchen.
It was quiet, and surprisingly awkward. Leaning back, I grab my phone.
USER: Can we meet now?
UNKNOWN NUMBER: Of course.
USER: See you at the spot.
Shoving my phone in my back pocket, I look over to Louise. "Can you watch dinner? I'll be back later I want to go see my little brothers." I smile.
"Sure thing!"
Waving my goodbye, I headed out making my way down the road. I hadn't lived too far from the park we were meeting at but there was a hideout of mine that no one knows. Not even Sui or Louise. Hopefully this stranger could be useful. Sui was harsh right now, and all I needed was someone I could talk to who I won't be facing on nearly a day to day basis - but instead by random chances.
Turning the corner, I head towards the black gates the guarded the pack at night from intruders. Almost like a graveyard if you ask me. The trees blew with the slight breeze, and birds took off from the branches that stayed tack to the stump.
Seeing a guy from afar, I inched closer crossing the street on the walk cross. A car sped up and nearly hit me. They earned a simple 'fuck you' and the middle finger. As I cam closer to the guy, I knew exactly who it was.
Xavier.
"So you're the unknown number?"
"If I told you who I really was you wouldn't have agreed to coming."
"Not wrong." I imply. Crossing my arms over my chest. "So. What do you want?"
He had a look of confusion before he had began, "You we're talking about werewolves yesterday. May we go somewhere private?"
My brows knitted together, but I nodded, leading him through some trees on a old dirt trail. There were some bure holes in the ground, cracks in the rocks, and old trees that were wilting. "What about the topic?"
"It was interesting. Do you really believe in all that? I mean you brought up lycans as well. And from everyone's topics about werewolves they weren't all correct like yours."
"Oh. Um..yeah. I did some research I guess." I shrug glancing over at him.
"Well for research you know a lot more than what you should."
"Huh?"
Clearing his throat, he shoved me playfully. " About wolves. And werewolves. How the system works."
"That's because the pack and order, and mythology classes paid off. There amazing! If anything I prefer lycans over werewolves."
"Why?" He questioned amused.
"They have more self control. And to me they aren't monsters like werewolves. Lycans are more in depth to reality and cultures. They move from the indians and werewolves are just a monstrous territorial myth underground." I shrug looking at the ground before turning the path which lead to a open way with beautiful trees and a waterfall.
It was beautiful out here and definitely helped me think. The breeze was refreshing, and the animals that usually came seemed tame but one move from human kind they run off like no other. There were a few birds who were released by owners, they still had a tag and was tamish but they loved their freedom more than being in a humans hand.
After all, they did deserve their peace and humility. Turning to look back at Xavier, I watched as he took off his shirt - his four pack showing vividly. "Um. What do you think your doing?"
"Can you promise me something?" He asked.
"What's that?"
"No matter what you see, you won't scream and run. I won't have much control over what happens. But whatever you do. Don't. Touch. Let me do the work with my pal."
Laughing nervously I rubbed the back of my neck as he undid his pants. "I'm sorry...um..I think you have the wrong idea here." Looking away, he smirked.
"I'm not interested. But nice to know your down." He stated.
But then, the unthinkable happened.
I couldn't believe what I saw next, but what I do know is that mythology soon seemed real enough and more fun to discover. I can't lie.
I wanted to run, to scream.
But what stood in front of me was a beautiful creature. A creature I studied about. But I realized, the vision when he messaged me.
He was that wolf. Staring at me with his carmel brown eyes, his four a beautiful tricolor of carmel brown, black and grayish coat. Just like from the vision that I had.
I thought of reaching out to pet his fur, but I knew what I promised. Stepping back, my foot snapped on a twig, and it caught his attention. His ears pricked forwards, lowering his snout to the ground. With a breif sniff, the wolf edged closer, his tail down and alert.
