Chapter 13 - New Technique! (1)

Swoosh… Clang…

Knives were thrown thirty meters away before they collided with each other, causing them to change directions. But as if their collision was intentional, their direction was turned toward a carved target sign on the trees.

But a knife's direction was off, the supposed target was on its left side. But with just a clang, another thrown knife collided with it. Making the direction right through the center of the target, likewise, the other knife, hit the target accurately in the center.

With that, five knives scattered throughout the forest, but their target was carved by each tree, surrounding them.

Clap Clap…

An applaud could be heard throughout the forest, fifty meters away from the knives. Near the applauding, a young man turned his head to the back, staring at the person who applauded.

"That was brilliant, to even change the direction of five knives, was fascinating to watch." He was supposed to be praising, but his expression was solemn.

Clover couldn't help but feel he was mocking him. Ignoring his remark, he walked to where the knives were.

He climbed a tree that was almost fifty meters in height, double the amount of the average modern tree.

"But, is that all you can do?" Morgan said with a solemn expression.

He waited for Clover to finish collecting the knives. He challenged him.

"Hmm, hit me with your throwing knife, considering your confidence in precision, you should be able to hit me." Morgan then made a daring hand gesture to Clover.

Clover was showing a serious expression, but inside he was excited. It's boring to hit a fixed target since to kill a person was not fixated always in the same position.

Since Morgan suggested, how could he not take advantage and learn how to hit a moving target?

Confirming that the distance between both of them was fifty meters, Clover was then ready to throw. He was no idiot to think Morgan would wait to receive the throwing knife; thus, he was anticipating Morgan's move.

He threw the four knives respectively. He was anticipating Morgan to move and throw his remaining knife in his hand. The four knives' direction has already sealed the path for Morgan to take, but he was still being cautious, for he was sure Morgan would dodge it anyways. So he was anticipating where it would be.

Thirty-five meters…. Twenty meters…. Fifteen meters….

The throwing knives were approaching Morgan and were closing the distance. But he was unperturbed, and his eyes were not focused on knives but on Clover instead. Seeing Clover anticipating his move, he smirks.

Ten meters…. Five meters…

When the four knives were five meters away from him, he moved.

Clover seeing a slight movement from his body, confirmed where he dodge, and throw the remaining knife in his hand, with much more strength behind the throw, causing it to be faster than the early knives.

With a simple move, Morgan dodges the four knives successively. For the remaining knife, he didn't move anymore and waited for the knife, to brush against his cheek.

Clover seeing that simple move, couldn't help but be shocked. His mouth was wide open, which complemented his widely opened eyes. He couldn't help but think.

'Was my effort gaining a mastery in throwing, was a waste?' he falls into despair.

'Maybe, because he had mastered the mastery in dodging.' Clover still didn't forget to comfort his lost soul.

"This is what you call 'Simplicity'." Morgan ignored his expression and explained what he had done.

"You expect so much from me to make countless moves. When I have done was just a simple one." Morgan implied.

"You were so focused on my body movement that you neglected that I could just make a simple move. You have so many expectations and concluded I would make many complicated moves." Morgan continued targeting Clover's mistake and continued to expose it.

Targeting Someone's flaws was perhaps not a good thing to do, but understanding them was also not a bad thing.

"When you attack, aim to kill the enemy. Don't give them chances. The moment your trump card was useless to the enemy. Just Run!" Morgan seriously said to him.

Clover is like a civilian relying on a gun to survive. The moment his bullet was exhausted was the moment the wolf became a lamb.

Tomorrow, he planned to teach Clover a close-combat technique.

After saying those things, Morgan then walks in the other direction. Preventing Clover from thinking that he had already the skills to survive, was his plan for coming here.

He didn't want Clover to have that kind of mentality. It's either Clover maintains his cautiousness and survives this ordeal to understand the current situation on earth, or he would think that he had already the skills to survive and obtain girls left and right and died due to his stupidity.

Helping people was not a bad thing, but knowing your limits was a must.

Collecting Clover's flying knife, Morgan examines it. The shape, the texture, and the structure were very refined. As if Clover wanted to create it into perfection.

'This kid must have OCD.' Morgan thought, amused.

He threw the flying knives in front of Clover who meditated. He continued to walk in the direction of the river.

…..

'Simplicity… Simplicity…'

Clover's thought right now as he meditated. He continued to comprehend Morgan's action and what he meant by simplicity.

'That's right. I was so much focused on Morgan's movement, that I think it will be complex. But to think it was just a simple one. The moment I face-off with him was the moment he knew the outcome of the battle.'

Clover continued meditating, not minding his surroundings. Thankfully, no animals or beasts near him.

Time passed. It's already been twenty minutes since he's doing this. But not a slight movement could be seen throughout this time.

'Simplicity…. Aim to kill… That's right. Directly aim to kill the enemy with a simple move. If the enemy survives, then run...'

Moments later after continuing to process this thought, he suddenly opened his eyes and stood up.

[Throwing Basic Mastery Acquired.]

[Congratulations to the host. For gaining another level of Mastery on throwing.]

A booming voice sounded through his mind, but as if Clover didn't hear it. He grabs the five knives in front of him. And throw it successively and with full force behind it.

Swoosh Swoosh Swoosh Swoosh Swoosh

The flying knives hit a tree, but as if the tree was made with tofu, it pierced unto the other side.

After hearing this booming voice once more. Clover was awakened. His gaze landed on the tree that was pierced by his flying knives. He couldn't help but smile – satisfied.
