Chapter 7 - Killing the deer (2)

In the part of the South Continent, where trees were abundant and barren land was hard to see. Water could be seen constantly gushing through the river, as it curved gently through the forest.

The rocks that prevent the strong surge of the water, created a sound that seems peaceful and tranquil.

In the part of the high ground of the river. A deer was drinking on the river, it was also enjoying the peace brought by the river.

Aside from the deer, no animals or beasts drank alongside it, while some fish swam in it. The difference is that the fish is still the same as before, they are not the same beast mentioned by God.

While not far away from the deer. Two people were crouching in the large bush with the trees adjacent to it. Both of their presence were very vague as their eyes and a drooling mouth with exciting expressions could only be seen coming out of the bush.

They were Morgan and Clover. They endured for 15 minutes as the deer were slowly strolling before going to the river. As if it wasn't worried that someone was hunting it – as if it was confident in itself.

A pair of narrowly-sharp thin antlers were protruding on his forehead, it always showed it off whenever it walked.

It thinks with this large, sharp edge pair of antlers given by God to his subjects is enough to scare those predators. Thus, he didn't notice Morgan and Clover following him.

Clover almost snapped and just wanted to end the life of this narcissistic animal. But with just one glare from Morgan, he became obedient.

Now 15 minutes after, their waiting was paid off. But still, Morgan didn't make a move and waited for the deer to drink water. As the deer's mind was slowly engulfed by the peacefulness brought by the river.

He didn't notice a bulb light head of a middle-aged man slowly walking toward him. Clover was amazed as he thought that Morgan was like those villains who would kill their prey without knowing how it died – but sadly, that moment broke by the sunlight that reflected on his bald head.

As the deer closed his eyes long ago and peacefully enjoyed the moment inside of his mind.

Morgan was already half a meter away from him, Morgan with the machete that was already unsheathed with his right hand, slowly going up and ready to slice the neck of the deer. His expressions were gentle as if he was taking care of a baby.

His expression suddenly turned serious, and a killing intent aura radiated out from him. The deer who immediately felt it, open his eyes but failed to react.

Swoosh

The machete slice the neck of the deer, but the body failed to react, as it took a second before the head slowly slid out of his neck.

Thud

The body plummeted to the ground sideways.

The deer only saw the light emitted by its bald head Morgan, before dying. He doesn't know whether to hate him for killing him or be grateful to be killed by a blessed person. As for whether he thinks that Morgan is a blessed person? Only he knows.

.....

Clover, who saw what happened before his eyes, couldn't help but feel amazed. He stood there blankly while blinking his eyes and still processing what Morgan did.

While Morgan was already near the deer's body and cleaning his machete using the fur, he noticed that no one followed him behind when he already killed the prey, he turned and looked at Clover.

He noticed that Clover was still shocked, maybe because of what he did. He didn't feel smug about it, so he ignored it and continued taking care of the head and the body.

He then goes to the river and checks for anything unusual inside. He then tapped his finger on the water, and when he felt that the tip was wet enough, he shoved it in his mouth and tasted it.

He wasn't worried that it would kill or poison him, as he saw some fish swinging in the river, and they weren't mutated. He guessed it would take some time before some animals evolved with humans.

Humans could attain power beyond his knowledge anyway, he remembers that God said to wait, so maybe in a few days or weeks, God will announce something.

'So in the process, I can teach that kid to fight. I have more experience in this field anyway. I have a higher position in the military. Thus I know more advanced combat techniques in the military. I also have humanity inside my heart even though I kill many criminals, terrorists, or in other words, bad people. I couldn't just watch a kid getting killed.'

He already treated the wounds on Clover's left shoulder with his tattered combat uniform sleeves to pressure it from bleeding. Thus when he saw him, suddenly kneeling previously, his heart shook, and he thought the poison was spreading his body, but it seemed it was not the case, causing him to be furious. But when he feels that the kid suddenly feels dispirited, he turns gentle and consoles him.

As for why he treated Clover that much, only he knows.

…..

'Amazing, when he felt that the deer blended his mind enough to the peacefulness brought by the river, he moved and killed it before he was noticed.' Clover was amazed.

He then raised his right hand to his hair while his head was lowered, his two fingers constantly rubbing the piece of his hair.

Whenever he contemplates complicated things, he does this every time. He saw it in anime one time and imitated it.

'When the deer was drinking the water while closing its eyes, the probability of killing it became higher and become easier, the only thing you need to be worried about is its senses, but Morgan ignored it. He didn't attack immediately when the deer lowered its guard but waited when its perception shut off.

But still, we need to consider its instinct to realize the danger, but Morgan took it to his advantage. As for how Morgan does it, one thing I notice is – EXPRESSION. Yes, it's his expression, his face was gentle at first, but when he swung the blade with a solemn expression, the deer failed to react.

I think he was suppressing his killing intent before getting everything set – when he swung the blade. The instinct to sense the danger of animals is much higher than humans. Humans can only feel that something bad is about to happen, but that's it. With their intelligence, they can just shrug it off, thinking he or she was just being paranoid.

So the instinct of an animal can't be ignored, but Morgan takes it as an advantage. While showing not hostility but friendly while slowly getting into attack motion, the body of the deer failed to react. Though the instinct of the deer reacted, his body reactions fails him causing him to die.

'So that's it. By knowing the prey while being cunning, can I only survive in this New Age. I shouldn't just blindly offend people without knowing them, and make preparations before dealing with them'

Reaching with conclusive reasoning and coming up with a very firm decision, Clover's future would be now interesting.

…..

"Clover, Come here!" Morgan called out to Clover, as he tried to put the body on his shoulder.

"Pick that up and follow me." After drinking the water by the river, Clover picked the head and followed Morgan. He dragged the head upside down, afraid to leave traces of blood behind and get noticed by some predator.

The body didn't leave a trace either, under the care of Morgan who ripped his right combat uniform sleeves to bind the neck of the body, putting some pressure so that the blood would not gush out.

…..

The Sun has long been set, and the moon was about to fully came out.

Night comes, In the Southern Continent was very dark and very gloomy. Only the Moon could light it up as it shone brightly.

In the southern part, a red light could be seen glowing, a smoke rushing out amidst the small space surrounded by the trees.

Two people could be spotted sitting opposite each other. In the middle of them was the source of red light that was glowing - it was a small bonfire.

Surrounding it was a piece of meat pierced by the stick. The stick penetrated the ground, and thus the meat didn't fall to the fire, and it only leaned on it.

Two people were having a conversation while frequently picking the stick and then eating the meat.

"Tomorrow, I will wake up you early, because I will be training you in Combat techniques." Said by the bald head that reflects the bonfire.

"Yes, but it's hard to sleep early, as I sometimes sleep past midnight," Clover replied while holding his laugh by not looking at him. He doesn't want to offend him and might change his mind later by abandoning him in this forest.

"Mhm, I know it's not easy to adapt, but try to do it as soon as possible," Morgan replied while ignoring Clover's expression earlier at him.
