"And the time for the climax of this tournament has finally arrived!!!"
The first match of the first round was about to start, and the crowd was excited for the long-awaited start of the final day of the tournament.
Yuji, who had spent the whole morning in meditation, had awakened from his mental training to follow the upcoming fights and observe the situation of the injured girls.
It was quite refreshing to see that Kou and Senju were awake, and full of energy. Fortunately, the guardian who had attacked them did not injure them seriously, leaving them with only bruises.
Of course, that didn't stop both from complaining of pain (mostly Senju).
But to take some of the edge off her spirits, Hiyama's situation was not so optimistic. Despite being risk-free, the blow to her head caused her confusion, and the loss of blood prevented her from getting out of bed, even though she was already awake.
In this way, Yuji preferred to watch the fight between Ohma and Imai through the television, to continue at Hiyama's side and alleviate the situation of Hanafusa and his nurse, who were already quite busy taking care of those injured in the invasion.
And as he waited for the fight to begin, Yuji was quite surprised when he was visited by numerous fighters from the tournament.
Himuro, Kaneda, and Akira had dropped by to offer the girls well wishes and say hello, while Okubo briefly discussed the stakes for this round. Of course, Yuji avoided giving his guess, since he knew Okubo just wanted a hand in making money.
Right after the four of them visited, Tomari was the next one who visited him. Most of the time, she just bragged about how Muteba was doing so well in the tournament, but Yuji could easily sense the woman's concern about his situation. The boy appreciated this, and listened to the woman with a small smile as she constantly teased him.
With that, after an irritated Tomari said her goodbyes, Saw Paing along with Gaolang in tow, were the next to enter the venue.
Unlike the others, the conversation between them was a bit different .
"Have you met Myanmar?!" "Oh, sorry!"
After Yuji told Saw Paing that he had traveled to his homeland, the Burmese wrestler immediately perked up, but realizing the mood he had raised his voice in, he immediately apologized.
"Yes, that's where I learned Lethwei." Crossing his arms, Yuji lost himself in memories for a moment. The time in that country had earned him some great memories. Remembering those children, who despite having so little, had smiles as bright as the sun, brought a smile to his face.
"I see! So that's why your head was so well executed!" Excited, Saw Paing struggled to keep his tone low.
"..."
Losing some of his cheer, Saw Paing seemed to become pensive, which Yuji and Gaolang immediately noticed.
"When I heard that the village of Dawn was in danger, I went into shock. I was so desperate to win that much of my vision became clouded. I'm sorry if I didn't give you a good fight."
"..."
The three of them remained silent, the girls' voices chattering in the background the only thing that could be heard.
Yuji had finally understood the reason for the constant fluctuation in Saw Paing's aura. Desperate to protect his family, Saw Paing was overcome by such a feeling that it affected his performance in combat. The boy could understand this, and could sympathize with the Burmese fighter.
But there was no need to apologize. Saw Paing had provided him with an amazing fight, which he could enjoy. As fighters, it was normal for them to demand the most from both of them in combat, and Saw Paing had delivered more than Yuji could have hoped for.
Instead of receiving apologies, Yuji should thank him for the fun.
"I understand." Yuji nodded, a smile appearing on his lips as he leaned forward and closed his fist. "But there's no need for apologies. Our fight was amazing, and I couldn't ask for anything better. But since you're doing it, I'd like to ask for something in return."
Saw Paing looked at the boy with confusion, only for Yuji to raise his fist towards him.
"We will fight again, but this time, without such a big weight on our shoulders."
"..."
Opening a huge smile, Saw Paing punched Yuji's fist as his eyes filled with a blazing determination.
"Yuji, you really are a real man!"
Both fighters started laughing, pulling their fists apart and taking all the previous tension out of the room.
"Shh!"
But being warned by the nurse on the spot, they immediately fell silent, receiving a nod of disapproval from Gaolang, who was just watching the interaction in silence.
"And you."
Opening his eyes when he sensed a powerful intention directed at him, Gaolang raised an eyebrow when he noticed Yuji pointing in his direction with a challenging look.
"That goes for you. Let's fight one day."
Gaolang didn't answer, a small smile appearing on his lips as he nodded in response.
"I see. So it's a promise."
