____Narration____
Gathered around a table, Senju and Elena were talking to each other happily while Yuji was watching them with a small smile on his lips.
When Senju recovered from the hospital, he introduced Elena to her, since they were both friends of his, and that they would eventually meet during the annihilation tournament, so to avoid an unwanted mix-up, he decided to move the introductions forward. It was nice that they both ended up getting along, but without the boy's knowledge, this happened mainly because of the common ground they both shared.
They both liked Yuji.
With the conversation between the two and the fact that they were not idiots, this quickly became clear, but unlike many situations like this, there was no hostile relationship between the two, quite the opposite, after all, when they found out, they already found each other's company pleasant, since the two shared another crucial point, which was the lack of contact with girls of the same age. In the end, the whole situation was resolved with the beginning of a healthy and friendly dispute.
Which was... Surprisingly mature for girls their age...
Of course, Yuji knew nothing of this, so he just gave credit to the fact that they were two teenage girls who could easily relate.
Turning his attention to Kou, who at this moment was devouring a plate full of food, he let out a slight laugh. Told by Mokichi himself, Kou's talent was monstrous, and after 1 year of training, she was ¼ of the way to mastering Baritsu. This left the blond man beaming with joy, although he himself didn't much like the idea of teaching her... A bit of a hypocrite.
The little girl didn't stop practicing Koei style, and ended up being able to use the [Blink] technique efficiently, which was quite surprising. To say that Yuji was proud would be an understatement to express how he was feeling.
"?"
Yuji raised his eyebrow when he suddenly felt hostility being directed at him, his eyes turning to what looked like some fighters looking at him from the corner of the hall.
'Oh, so that's it... That old man is really crafty.' Yuji thought, his eyes glinting dangerously as a smile appeared on his lips, this causing the fighters to cower and move away from the scene.
It had been a few minutes since President Katahara announced the rules during his stay on the ship, leaving loopholes in his statement for interpretation, such as the fact that the fighters who would fight in the tournament could not face each other, but if someone from outside the tournament wanted to challenge one of the main fighters, that would be fine. This was not something accidental, but rather something purposeful, to cause confrontations around the ship.
"It's been a while..." Just as Yuji was about to go back to eating, a voice came from behind his back, causing him to turn around to see who it was from. "Commander!"
Yuji's eyes widened as he recognized the person walking toward him, he stood up with a smile as he crossed his arms.
"Those who are alive always show up, don't they?" Yuji spoke with a playful tone. "Akira!"
.
"So you were on a training trip with your brother..." Yuji spoke while scratching his chin.
"Briefly, yes." Akira spoke as he sipped a glass of water. "I learned the Kujin style and a few other things."
"Well, and where is your brother?" Yuji asked as he looked around with interest. He remembered Kaneda playing Shogi somewhere, but he didn't really explore the hall to try to find him.
"Oh, he went to work some things out. As you know, President Katahara really left some interesting loopholes to explore in the rules."
Listening to him, Yuji immediately understood what he was going to say. He felt a little silly realizing that he had forgotten about Kaneda and Himuro's fight, but he quickly let it go, after all, it was none of his business.
"Oh, and you, aren't you going to try to take advantage of this loophole?" Yuji asked as he raised his eyebrow in interest.
"Sure, I was thinking of calling you to fight." Akira simply spoke, a serene smile on his lips.
Yuji blinked a few times as he stared at him, a laugh escaping him. "Really?"
Don't get it wrong, Yuji was not belittling him, he just found funny how calm he was able to say that.
"Yes, but after analyzing you for a while, I realized that I don't stand a chance." Akira let a defeated sigh escape his lips. "But well, my intention in accompanying my brother was not really to take someone's place, just to support him, so this is not a big loss."
"Hey, just looking at you I can tell that you're much stronger, so don't get all depressed." Yuji spoke as he slapped his shoulder a few times.
He wasn't just saying this as a way to cheer him up, just by looking at Akira, Yuji realized that he was a league away from his self of two years ago, an amazing evolution, by the way.
"Compared to you, I seem to have climbed a small hill." Akira only looked even more despondent.
Yuji let out a sigh upon hearing this. As proud as this might sound, he himself should not be used as a comparison, after all, he was not only able to mimic techniques by observing them for a few seconds depending on their complexity, but he also had a system and a body capable of adapting even to deadly poisons.
He didn't think of it without having a basis, in fact he tested it with some poisons on Amazon...
"Hey, don't charge yourself so much, your evolution alone is monstrous, so be a little proud of yourself." Yuji said in one last attempt to cheer him up, this seeming to work when Akira nodded in agreement and raised his head.
"Hey, have you heard? It seems that the Ginokuniya Bookstore representative was defeated by a guy named Kaneda."
"What? The Shogi guy?"
Some murmuring suddenly started, Yuji immediately understanding who it was about.
"Looks like Kaneda got a spot in the tournament." The boy mentioned, turning to look at Akira.
"Yes, my brother is amazing." Akira was beaming as he listened to the murmurs, Yuji looking at him with a strange expression.
.
.
.
An hour later, Yuji and Akira were walking together after separating from the girls. The two were talking quietly about many topics, the main one being the training they both went through.
While Yuji went through mostly hellish training, Akira worked on his senses. This made him able to use [Prediction] like his brother, although he was still far from his brother's level.
"So, how about sparing? I can't beat you, but we can train together, plus it'll be like a warm-up for the matches." Akira proposed, Yuji raising his eyebrow as he looked at him.
"I think conserving energy would be the best way to go, but why not? The last time we trained was two years ago." Yuji replied with a smile.
As the two walked down the corridors, two figures walked in the opposite direction, one being a tall man with blond hair and the characteristic Kure Clan eyes, and a short figure with a hood concealing much of his face.
Yuji noticed the two, but preferred to just ignore them as he continued talking to Akira. If either of them had any bad intentions, he would have noticed them immediately, but that didn't seem to be the case, so he wouldn't mind too much.
The moment the pairs passed each other, the hooded figure suddenly stopped, she turned to look at the back of Yuji, who was walking away together with Akira.
"What is it, Karura?" The blond asked as he saw the girl suddenly stop.
