Chapter 12 - Chapter 12

Elise

"You're welcome" I took a sip and the tongue got in contact with my tongue.

"I'm sorry we were not able to meet up earlier"

"It's okay. I understand. You must be occupied. But I'm glad you came over"

"That's me making it up to you. Anyways, let's get to the real deal. Do you have anything in mind?" I asked adjusting my sitting position.

"Actually, No. I heard a lot about you. That you make the best wedding dress. So I'm leaving it up to you"

Very good.

My lips formed into a smile. I like getting their praises. "I'm not bragging but you're right. I always see to it that my client are satisfied. The smile on the faces"

"I'm giving my full trust in you"

"Aright then. I will sketch out the design and send it over to you through your email if that is okay with you?"

I like to work on my design when I'm alone. In a quite place.

"Sure. It's okay. I don't mind" We discussed what needed to be discussed before calling it a day. Rylee was calm and composed all through. Judging by how our interaction was, she'd want a something simple. Not flashy. I would try my best to make it up that she would love it.

"Here's a gift for you. I don't know which are your favorite but I've compiled different type" She handed me a bouquet of flowers.

My heart swell up with joy at her kindness. "You don't have to do that Rylee. Thank you for this. Will hear back from me lastet tomorrow afternoon" She walked me up to the door before I got in my car and drove off.

Two days later

I took a sip of my coffee as I focus my attention on my laptop screen. I was supposed to send the design over to Rylee yesterday as per agreed. But then, things came up. Mom is preparing to travel to San Francisco for her best friend's daughter's wedding. And she has been going shopping up and down. If as she is the mother of the bride. She was literally buying everything. With all the dresses she have not worn before in her wardrobe. Her replies were "I need to look my best"

"This wedding is going to be a spotlight wedding. I need to look premium"

That was the reason why I couldn't settle down to sketch up the dress. Mother will not allow me to rest. I was about to take another sip when my door was banged open and Aria's face surfaces.

"Don't you know how to knock" I exclaimed passing her a deathly glare. She made herself comfortable on my bed before I could offer her. "And who gave you permission to sit on my bed"

She gave me a puppy face in return. "Please help me Sister. Mom will not allow me to read in peace. I have test tomorrow and every minutes she's at my door asking me for what dress to go with. I'm exhausted" I didn't know when I burst into a fit of laughter. Not at my mother's actions but the way Aria was explaining it. As if she is about to cry.

"I will help you but only this once" Her face lit up in happiness.

"Only on one condition though" Her smile instantly faded.

"What condition?"

"You have to do everything I say" Her eyes slightly went wide.

"For how long?" She asked.

"For as long as I like"

"Sis, that's-"

"The choice is yours though. As you can see I'm busy. And you know if you fail the test, consequence will follow"

It's not like I planned to take advantage of the situation before. But then, opportunity comes once again. Aria is a smart girl. I know what she's capable of. The corner of my lips raised up into a smile as I think of the plan formulating in my head.

I don't play around.

"Alright then. As far as I will be free from Mom. Let me to get my books. And I promise not to disturb you"

Few minutes later, and she came bag with her book. One look from me is enough to tell me I require no noise and that's what happened. She busied herself with reading while I focused mine on the sketching. However, hiding ourselves in the room won't help matters. The door was banged open and walked in our mother. "Oh my god" I heard Aria muttered.

"Why are you guys hiding here when you're supposed to be helping your mother" She said.

"Mom you know I can't. I have test tomorrow. And you were the one that threatened me to make sure I get good grades" She stared in thinking for a while before shifting her focus to me

"No Mom. I'm also busy. I have a deadline to meet up" I uttered before she could even ask me of help. I pointed towards my laptop.

"Why do I have stubborn girls" She said heaving out a sigh. I copied her action.

"Mom, you're just taking too much on this. Like, you're not leaving today or tomorrow. It's next yet, you're all serious"

She passed me a glare in return. "If you're not going to lend a helping hand then don't lecture me. I can do everything myself you know" And she turned on her heels and walk away.

For some reason, I felt bad.

I finished off the remaining touches then sent it to her email. I made my way to Mom's room finding it empty. Where could she be? I descend down finding her brewing coffee. She spared me a glance then diverted her attention. She was angry. "My beautiful mother" I commenced in a sweet voice hugging her from behind.

"I thought you're busy?" She ushered in a not so pleasant voice.

"Yes I am. But I can't say no to my darling mother"

"Don't think your sweet words will work on me. I don't need you guys help. Elijah has already helped me" And that made me pull apart.

Elijah again.

She turned around to face me. "He saw me struggling to take out used shopping bags so he decided to help. He's so calm and composed" I resisted the urge to roll my eyes. Now she's on with her narration.

"Where is he now?" I couldn't help but ask.

"I don't know. Maybe in his room" She answered walking past me to the sitting room.

So, he's trying to win my mother's heart right?
