Have you ever thought that your life was going in a parallel direction even when it was not, well this happened to me, Kate Titus, in the early years of my youth as my friend Cathy seems to put it!
At 25 years of age, I was already dumbed and had a baby with a man who run out on me ,at-least that's what I think and left me to muddle through for myself without any provision whatsoever, my mother just died and left me a coffee bar which of course was plagued with roaches and any other insect that crawled and walked on the floors. I had just finished studying accounting which was not a total waste of my life and time, the only problem was putting that to work.
Between the so called CEO position at the coffee bar, the working at a local bank as a temp and taking care of my child, my hands were full not forgetting my bank account which now showed a negative on the main account which was about hundred couple of bucks, the bills were piling up and I was immensely drowning in debt.
"could my life get any worse than this " I thought as I sat in the coffee bar trying not to think about the money I put in to this place to make it look more appealing to people, I had gotten a loan from the bank for 50,000 to remodel it, part of it went to the hospital bill and some used for me to complete the last semester in college.
Cathy walked up to the doors of the coffee bar and waved at me before entry, she looked pretty in her summer dress with white wedges, Catherine burns, daughter to mayor Brian burns of Summerdale and Ellen burns a surgeon.
Cathy was one of my, most loyal friends in my social circle, mother always called her a spoiled Barbie toy, was she wrong? Nope, Cathy could have anything and everything she could ever ask for and she was given right away no questions asked. Somehow things sort of went her way, be it cute guys, or nice shoes, cars, apartments anything she coughed out daddy mayor made sure to make that happen. I on the other hand thought the universe was out to punish me at any time it so will-fully wished. I was the exact opposite of Cathy, she was beautiful, had heads turn whenever she entered a room not only men, women too admired her beautiful complex features. She naturally had black thick hair, her eyebrows were nicely shaped all the damn time.
Sometimes I wondered why she was even friends with me, mother said it was a way to make herself feel she was better than me in many ways. And I thought again she was right, I laughed at the thought of my mother saying that.
"hey you, why you looking so grim? "she asked.
"I have had a busy day "I said sarcastically turning my head around at the empty coffee bar.
"oh honey at least it pays the bills right" she said looking around the coffee bar.
As much as I hated it, she was right, the coffee bar did bring in some sort of income at the end of the month, not enough but it helped.
"yeah, I guess "I said with a sigh.
"okay, so what are you doing this weekend? She asked.
"well I have a job hunt, then meeting Montana at the bus stop, she is coming to stay with me for a while."
"that sucks, I had plans for us to go to that party I told you about last week"
"oh yeah I remember, sorry I am in no mood for a party"
"you have been saying that ever since Genesis was born, like years ago, come on Kate have some time for yourself just this once and not have so much of a burden on your shoulders".
"oh so now my child is a burden? You know Cathy some of us have to work and provide for our families and not have daddy 's bank on speed dial whenever the heels were out of season".
"okay, I don't do that, and you know I didn't mean it like that – plus it's not my fault my parents have money, heck I don't even spend any of it lately so judging me won't make any difference".
"Am sorry you are right, what happened to not spending their money?
"if you must know my dad cut me off, because of that little incident in Maui last month, and now I have resolved to job hunt like you, like a vagabond" she said shaking her head.
"it's actually not that bad, why didn't you say anything? I chuckled
"I didn't want to bother you with my problems, I have cut down on shopping and spending so much. And this party is for my stuck up boss to be. I have to suck up to him to get me a promotion maybe "she said clapping her hands.
"I don't think a promotion comes like that ". I laughed.
