Chereads / Behind The Terrifying Darkness / Chapter 15 - The Curse

Chapter 15 - The Curse

Rose wakes up in a strange place. She found that she was not in the luxurious room she last remembered, but a room whose entire building was made of wood.

"What happened?"

"Why am I here? What did the innkeeper do?"

"What did Your Majesty save me again?" various questions came to the girl's mind.

Her clothes have been changed to other clothes. Rose breathed a sigh of relief when there was no trace of anything on her body. The girl then looked for someone who might have helped her.

"Your Majesty." Rose whispered as soon as she found the lord of dragon race sleeping on the large sofa in the living room of the house.

The fairy walked slowly as she approached the sleeping man. It's not every day she gets to see such an amazing sight.

Rose realized that something was wrong with the ruler of the dragon race once she got to the king's side. Cold sweat formed on Stefan's handsome face. The man frowned with irregular breathing as if he was in pain.

"Your Majesty." Rose shook Stefan's arm. Trying to wake the man up.

Stefan seemed cut off from the outside world. Did not respond to the call from the beautiful fairy. Not desperate, Rose immediately searched the kitchen room to find a towel and warm water.

The beautiful girl was singing a song as her hands skillfully wiped the sweat from the man's face. The movements are softle and careful. Not long after, Stefan's expression began to improve.

Rose breathed a sigh of relief as she realized that the man was gradually recovering. She still had some doubts about the man's personality, but it was undeniable that the master of the dragon race had saved her more than once. She wasn't someone who didn't know how to return the favor.

Rose glanced at the cube-shaped timepiece in the corner of the table that showed two in the morning. The girl returned to the room she previously occupied after making sure Stefan's condition was fine.

The two of them slept soundly and only woke up when they heard a loud noise from outside the house.

"Open the door!!!"

There was a deafening knock on the door.

Rose immediately came out of her room and met Stefan's red eyes. The man looked fresher than before. Rose immediately turned her face away. This time it wasn't out of fear, but staring at that perfectly sculpted face for too long was not good for her little heart.

"Stay behind me." Stefan said a moment before opening the door.

Dozens of Dragon Race mercenaries surrounded the place. Staring at them fiercely. A middle-aged man wearing a black hat looked like their leader.

"You're sure they're the ones." The man in the hat asked a knight beside him.

"I'm sure. I saw with my own eyes the man who killed the Young Master." the knight replied.

The man in the hat stepped towards a pair of boys and girls who had just come out of the wooden house.

"Forgive my rudeness. But you have offended someone you shouldn't have bothered." the person spoke to Stefan who was standing in front of Rose.

"Really? Did that old man from Vansizger tell you to." Stefan said calmly.

"You know the Vansizger family? They control half of the Dragon Race's territory. You shouldn't have offended them." The man in the hat took out a long sword from empty air.

"Half?" Stefan smirked sarcastically.

"So don't blame me for being so rude. Elder Vansizger asked me to bring your head." The man in the hat waved his sword at Stefan. Gives off a blue flash when the sword is used.

Boom

Black smoke billowed out as the flash hit something. The shadows of the two people who were hit by the lightning strike were nowhere to be seen. Just dust covering the whole area.

"Not feeling at all." Stefan said after the dust and smoke had disappeared from sight.

Rose was speechless as she watched the king ward off the hat man's attack with his bare hands.

"As I thought."

"It's not that easy to defeat someone who can kill the young master of the Vansizger Family." the man took off his hat. Showing a face with a scar across his fierce face.

"Formation!" the man gave the command.

The knights readied themselves to their respective positions upon hearing the order from their leader. There were a total of nine groups with seven people in each.

The first group is tasked with deceptive attacks that have the ability to create illusions, the second group is the main attacker while the third group is reinforcements with the main weapons of medicine and poison. The next group has the same function based on the order.

Rose felt dizzy and couldn't stand up properly. She saw a group of black scorpions with poison stings standing around her. Just as she was about to step back to avoid one of the scorpions that wanted to attack her, Rose felt her body being pulled into someone's arms.

"Close your eyes." Stefan whispered in Rose's ear. The girl followed the king's words. Closing her blue eyes, she felt that someone was kissing her right cheek.

"Absolutely obedient." Steven was satisfied when he saw the beautiful fairy obey his words. He rewarded the girl with a gentle kiss on the fairy's birthmark.

After making sure Rose was safe in his arms, Stefan looked at the group of people who wanted to risk their lives. Walking calmly into the center of the formation, Stevan took out a pair of sturdy black wings.

Every step of the man contained a deadly pressure that made their hearts shatter. Every time blood spurted from his victim's body, Stefan's pupils grew redder.

"Kill them."

"Kill."

"Destroy them." The whispers grew louder in the king's ears. Making the man's grin turn crueler every second.

Stevan inhaled the fishy aroma emanating from the body he had chopped with his sword.

"More."

"He wants more." Stevan licked his red lips showing that he was starting to be overcome by bloodlust.

"Your Majesty."

"Can I open my eyes now?" Rose asked after not hearing the noise made by other people. The girl's soft voice seemed to be a spring in the arid desert. Making Stefan regain his composure.

"Your Majesty?" Rose asked again when she didn't get an answer from the man.

Stefan looked at the fairy girl who was still in his arms. He took her bridal style. So her face in his chest. It made it easier for him to breathe in the sweet and refreshing air of the fairy's body.

"Looks like keeping the girl for a little longer isn't so bad." Steven thought in his mind.

"No need. We'll be heading back to the Palace soon."

"It would be best if you hide your face until we get there." Stefan said calmly.

The man then waved his black wings to quickly leave the place. In contrast to their departure on horses together, now they returned using the black wings of the dragon race lord to the palace.
