Heading to a lesson on the history of magic, I was thinking about the task that it is better to take so that the professors with the deans and especially the director could not be against.
I remembered that different tasks could have restrictions on the course of the stufon, but I hoped that as an elite stufon I could get around it.
Walking through the corridors of the academy, watching the sleepy stufons heading to lessons, it was clear that in two months many had already made friends with classmates and had small talk.
After going to my class, I could notice that while there were few classmates, but there was still time for everyone to come wandering around the class, I noticed that Heya was casting glances at me. According to Keirin, Heya told them that he was in the hospital department and she was clearly upset about something at that moment.
I couldn't have a conversation with her since the last time we talked, I refused to serve the Cray Empire. It remained only to observe, the class was slowly filling up, many threw surprised glances at me, I could understand why.
After the injuries that the professor inflicted on me, many would have tried to avoid meeting this professor as much as possible and recover, but I did not have such luxury. A few minutes before the start , Professor Kay came in , looking around the class , she looked at me in surprise , but said nothing .
- Today we will continue to study the history of magic, as we have found out, many peoples have different legends and myths about the appearance of magi. But now let's talk about what is actually known about the origin of magic. - Professor Kay said, smiling.
The topic of the lesson was not particularly interesting to me since magic, or rather mana, has always been and is in the bodies of living organisms, over time the races learned to use it for simple actions, cooking and cleaning for cattle, and then different directions of magic began to develop at that time I doubted that there were swordsmen as such.
But catching myself thinking and if the chosen gods could only be those who did not produce mana with their body, I was interested in this, I thought how to ask a question so as not to attract the attention of other stufons. After waiting for the professor to allow me to ask questions about the history of magic, I raised my hand.
Professor Kay, watched the elite class, she saw that her subject does not find interest in the eyes of the stufons. She did not blame herself for the fact that perhaps she did not know how to present the history of magic in order to arouse interest. Preparing to continue the lesson, she noticed that the one she least expected to see today raised his hand. She was informed that he was injured for lessons in combat magic, but when she saw him sitting, she was surprised.
- Yes stufon Trey, do you have a question on this topic? - Professor Kay asked, smiling at the half-elf in front of her.
Having risen, stufon Trey was silent and already thinking that he wanted to go out, but he began to speak.
- Professor Kay, I have a question about a certain thing in the history of magic, can you tell me in ancient times magic saturated everyone or were there also those who could not use magic? - stufon Trey asked with interest.
Professor Kay, she thought, she could understand why swordsmen might be interested in this, but she was surprised to hear such a question from a magician.
- In ancient times, there were no swordsmen as such if we are talking about those who could not use magic. There were those who could sense it and interact with it but not use it. - Professor Kay spoke in a calm voice, watching Stufon Trey.
Thanking her for the answer, stufon Trey sat down and sometimes, as the class progressed, he raised his hand, but these were questions on the topic of the lesson and Professor Kay did not attach much importance to his question about ancient swordsmen.
Thinking about the possible reasons why in ancient times, there were swordsmen who felt magic but could not use it. Is it possible that the gods somehow influenced those people who could not use magic?
Or were the swordsmen the ones from whom they chose their future chosen ones? But so far I could not confirm my theory that the chosen ones were always deprived of magic.
Listening to Professor Kay, I still had questions, but I thought it would be better to leave it for the next lessons and look at books in libraries myself.
When the lesson on the history of magic ended, I waited until all my classmates left the class to clarify which books I could look at to test my theory.
- Professor Kay, and in which books on the history of magic you can read about ancient swordsmen and magicians. - I asked, looking around the classroom and shifting my gaze to Professor Kay.
Hearing my question, Professor Kay frowned, I thought that she was trying to remember which books to recommend to me which books I could study.
- Stufon Trey, why do you need to know what the magicians and swordsmen of antiquity were like?- Professor Kay asked cautiously.
Not understanding why my question caused such a reaction from her, I began to come up with a reason and the surest reason was that it could be related to the family.
- My grandfather told me a story that some swordsmen could still use magic, but it was special. - Trying to speak convincingly, I looked into Professor Kay's eyes.
I could see that she didn't quite believe me, but apparently this story interested her, thanks to the dean, no one knew about my family or who raised me.
- Interesting story, did your grandfather say what race they were? - Professor Kay asked, interested.
Noticing how she changed my question, I began to suspect whether the council of magicians or even the professor knew something about the chosen ones?
- No, or it's better to say that I didn't attach any importance to it since I was little. - When I told a lie, I tried to behave as usual without giving myself away.
Professor Kay, listening to my story, only nodded her head, I could not notice anything from her behavior that she was hiding something.
- Stufon Trey, you don't need books, but treatises of antiquity that describe that moment in time. - Professor Kay said with a sigh.
Treatises I have not heard such a meaning could they be ancient books, I became even more interested and whether they are in our library.
- Treatises are books or records, are they in our library? - I asked, trying not to look suspicious.
I noticed how Professor Kay chooses what to say and what not to say, but I decided not to try to find out something explicitly.
- Treatises are mostly personal observations, if you are comfortable with personal records of those who lived at that time, they can also be in the form of drawings and writings in ancient dialects and languages of that time. Unfortunately, we don't have such a library. - Professor Kay said with sadness in her voice.
Observing the behavior of Professor Kay, I saw that she still decided to tell me what she knows, and unfortunately I did not have the opportunity to study the swordsmen of the past in the library.
- Thank you Professor Kay, for what you told me, maybe my grandfather was telling the truth. - Bowing to her, I said.
