Chapter 89 - Professor Che'Lin's Story

- Arriving in the kingdom of Myoshin, I was introduced to the king and queen, and after a couple of years, crop problems began in this kingdom, at first it did not cause alarm to anyone from the court. Indulging in recollection, Professor Che'Lin unconsciously ran her hand across the blackboard, leaving chalk marks.

I could not imagine such a thing in the Cray empire, of course you can't say that there were no problems there, but I was still small and many problems bypassed me.

- After another year, farmers and peasants began to turn to the governing lords of those lands, when there is no harvest, who is to blame? Certainly farmers and peasants. As Professor Che'Lin continued to tell her story, she stopped moving her hand across the blackboard and turned to face the class.

- The lords turned to the capital so that they could be allocated magicians to help their lands, the king and queen, without hesitation, instructed me to deal with this. Professor Che'lin said with a chuckle in her voice.

We felt from her voice that it was unpleasant for her to recall this incident, but she continued to tell, looking first at one student, then at another.

- As a court magician, I could not refuse the direct order of the king and queen, going to the region where there was a drought, I met with the lords, we went together to look at farms and settlements where there was a drought. Professor Che'lin said while clasping her hands with anger in her voice.

I, like the students, could not imagine what she faced, but it was clear that Professor Che'Lin's story would end soon.

- After looking around the farms and villages, I realized that there was only one way to help this region regain the ability to harvest and pay to the treasury. Returning to the capital, I reported everything to the king and queen. They asked for help in the form of a higher spell. Professor Che'Lin said with sadness in her voice.

- Since I could not use this spell myself, I turned to the council of magicians, they thought for a long time, discussed it, but in the end they fulfilled my request, but now I understand that it would be better if they refused. The magicians arrived in the kingdom of Myoshin quickly, due to the fact that I had no experience in supporting higher spells, I was assigned a group of transferring mana to magicians who supported its casting. During the preparation, everything went well, but when we started transferring mana to the magicians, it felt like some of the magic was going to someone else. - Continuing to tell Professor Chyo'Lin.

- I noticed that I didn't have the same feeling that part of the mana was going in another direction, but we could no longer stop the spell, so it only remained to continue transferring mana to the magicians who cast the spell.

- After a couple of hours, I already felt tired, as my fingers become colder and my breath goes astray, we expected that the spell was almost ready.

- But on the face of the magicians who cast the spell, we saw that the spell was still far from being completed. And we continued to transfer mana. Many magicians were already holding on, as I remember, they even lost consciousness, so our role was even more complicated if we lost magicians who lost consciousness. Me and the other magicians felt that our strength was running out, and then there was a surge of large mana of one of the participants, you are probably wondering what happened? Professor Che'Lin asked.

Students like me nodded in agreement to her question, we saw what she experienced that changed her future and who knew what would happen to us after graduation.

- When mana depletion occurs, regardless of race, they lose consciousness, but if you continue to transfer mana or cast spells, the sphere begins to crack and the mana that remains in the human body is released. In front of my eyes, people, elves began to exude a large level of mana, regardless of whether they were conscious or not. And then there was a burst of mana, I, like the others, was severely depleted, and I felt the sphere begin to crack and then burst. At that moment, the spell was ready, but there were more magicians affected than we were useful. As she finished her story, Professor Che'Lin looked at the class.

Thinking about how I would behave in their place, I'm not sure that I could also self-sacrificingly be left without magic myself.

- I, like many others who lost consciousness, was sent to the capital Myoshin to a magical hospital, I came to my senses already there. The king and queen refused my services since I was no longer a magician but a mere mortal and I was offered a job here to instruct future magicians, our lesson came to an end, everyone is free. Professor Che'Lin said longingly for the days gone by.

Everyone started to pack up and leave, but I was preoccupied with thinking about what I would do in such a situation?

- Stufon Tray, the lesson is over, I recommend that you pack up and go to your next lesson. Professor Che'Lin said while watching me.

Hearing the voice of Professor Che'Lin, I gathered myself and approached the door, I caught myself thinking that was haunting me.

- Professor Che'Lin, you said that you felt your mana being transferred somewhere else, did you tell anyone about it? - I asked when I was near the exit from the classroom.

Professor Che'Lin turned to me and stared at me for a few seconds, then nodded.

- Yes, I talked about this as well as my partners of magicians, we described in detail how it happened, the council of magicians sent search parties that could so absorb a lot of mana but did not find anything. Professor Che'Lin answered my question.

Thanking her for her answer, I left the classroom and headed to the next lesson, which was the basics of combat magic. I was wondering what we would be taught in this lesson.
