Chapter 42 - Encounter with a spider

The day was beginning to end, and thus the spiders would appear. They were night hunters thanks to the web, the unsuspecting victim was entangled in it without the possibility of freeing herself.

Spiders could only calmly eat their prey. Deciding to continue on my way, I became more alert to what surrounded me from the trees to the sky in front of me.

It was dangerous to stop in the forest. In addition to the spiders, there were other monsters that I had not yet encountered.

Thanks to the improved vision of the dark elves, the night was no longer so dark for me, so I saw in the distance a large silhouette that was standing near a tree, waiting for its prey. The web was stretched from that tree and pulled to another, the spiders were more cunning than wolves, if the wolves attacked two by three individuals hoping to overwhelm the victim with quantity, then the spiders gave the victim a sense of security and when the victim fell into the web there was no way back.

Turning to the side where the spider stood, I began to sneak in his direction, trying not to make unnecessary sounds. approaching him, I began to try to calm my heartbeat, hoping that the spider would not hear him.

Stopping ten steps before the spider, I began to examine it; it was the size of a small house, eight wedge-shaped paws protecting the chitin going from paws to the back, there were gaps, but it was difficult to reach them. Deciding how to start the fight, I tried to walk as slowly as possible and look where I was stepping, I could hear the spider already clicking its fangs, waiting for its prey.

Approaching three steps, I quietly took out the sword from the scabbard and ran to the spider, being next to the spider, having managed to deliver two chopping blows to the spider's hind legs. The sword did not completely cut off two paws; they were left hanging on the ends of the fabric.

Cursing my stinginess when I visited the city, I began to move to the right, feeling pain, starting to hiss, quickly turning to the place where I had just stood, seeing that those paws that I had injured were far from me, I slashed the next ones even more, putting more strength into the blow, hearing a crunch.

I saw how one paw fell, the spider began to jump in place from pain and beat with its paws in the place where I stood, continuing to walk in a circle, I stopped and chopped with a sword fifteen minutes later, the spider fell dead, all its paws were lying next to it. Trying to catch my breath coming up to the spider, I struck another blow to his head only after his head turned into a mess, I could relax a little.

This fight revealed many problems that I didn't know about, but the biggest problem was my sword. After the test, I need to either order it from a blacksmith or buy it ready. Sighing, I headed towards the mountain, according to my feeling it was another hour or two to go.
