Chapter 13 - 13. The Sick Hunter

The man sighed, looking down.

Suddenly he dodged to the side, knocking me to the ground.

Before I could understand what just happened, the blade came from nowhere and stabbed right next to my face.

"Huh… Albert! What is this?!"

Grabbing me, he ran out of the tower, towards the forest near the Sanctuary.

"Get up and run, you self-proclaimed idiot! You want both of us to die here together or something?!"

We hurriedly ran, quickly taking shelter under the tree.

Heavy rain makes the fog thicker, luckily helping to cut the tail of the chaser.

Panting for hours, my tight dress soaked in water made me even more tired.

"Albert, are you okay? And what happened just now was…"

"Don't be upset with me, it's all from you! What we need to discuss is top secret, being in the Sanctuary, stalkers are everywhere, why are you suddenly saying all these suspicious things? Be a little more careful next time!"

Before he could finish his words, his face turned red, and he quickly turned away. Boys are… hard to understand, really.

A knife suddenly went straight through the tree branch above my head, deeply embedded.

Startled, I stood up in panic, looking back.

The assassin's clothes and gloves were covered in blood, his arms were carved with snakes, white hair was tinged with red, golden pupils with black irises, he laughed with savage delight, revealing two fangs as sharp as his knife.

He slowly approached us.

"Edan's my name. I want, hm, to play a little game with you two. These knives are all impregnated with nerve paralysis poison, one stroke is enough for the victim to convulse to death if there is no timely antidote. The rules are simple, you have five minutes. Don't die too soon… Get started!"

I immediately pushed Albert forward: "Don't worry, just run to Éclairer citadel!"

The assassin quickly chased deep into the forest.

Passing through each row of trees, the rain gradually stopped, my body began to get tired.

Breathing became heavier and heavier, sweat running down my forehead.

What was I thinking, the one who pursuing me is definitely not some lowly soldier who I could handle on my own.

But I can't let Albert get involved, I just need to buy time for another four minutes.

Suddenly, he appeared, swinging the knife in front of him.

Crouching quickly, I grabbed his elbow, trying to bend. Raising the tip of the knife, he grabbed the hilt and flew backwards, aiming for the chest. Pulling my hand back, I immediately rolled to the left, kicking his leg.

It seemed that the guy would finally fall, but he still stubbornly reached out and grabbed my leg, holding the dagger with his mouth and stabbed.

This monster, in the first place, the chance to fight back was impossible.

But that doesn't mean that the weaker will forever only obediently become the prey, I grabbed the dirt and threw it into his eyes, then got up.

He then screamed loudly.

"Wow! You have more courage than I thought, and your self-defense skills are fine? Who taught you, your sick brother? Or was the family of your just doing everything to make you feel more desperate when you didn't have a voice for yourself? Disastrous!"

He grabbed me by the hair and forced me to drink a strange-tasting drink.

It started to make my body gradually lose balance, dizzy.

"The cut is not poisonous, don't worry. The water you just drank was Ayahuasca, a psychedelic substance that makes the human mind become integrated, aware of itself with the world around. Or… that's what I know from research, and you, will be the chosen one to try it."

Edan continued, looking amused.

What's going on…

Blocks, musical notes, numbers popped into my head, and when I became aware, they disappeared.

Animals, people, stars, all exist in an instant, with astonishing clarity.

This body, all its lines colliding with each other, seemed to be rushing in all directions?

I began to fear, cried out like complete collapse.

No longer knowing that one's own presence exists, individual pride completely dissolves into nothingness.

All observations are extremely hazy, illusory.

It felt like, I was no longer looking at the world through my body, but my existence suddenly vanished.

While my mind was no longer sober, I suddenly saw a vague figure of a female knight in uniform running over, parrying his knife.

Perhaps Albert had already informed the people in the citadel for help.

The assassin saw many soldiers coming, threw the dagger to the ground, and quickly retreated into the forest.
