Chereads / Lionel Kage / Chapter 9 - My Hidden Fear

Chapter 9 - My Hidden Fear

"Oh my gawd! I thought you were a villain but to think you were the top student from the selection 3 years back." Richie's eyes seemed to glow as he spoke. If one walked in without understanding the situation they would thing he swings left.

Clinton's face lost all playfulness but for some reason it felt more like his natural state. He cast a glance in the direction of Richie, but the person in question didn't seem to notice or rather wouldn't care even if he did.

"It is said he had eyes like rubies that that stained the world in blood wherever he went. And in the face of his abilities all was meaningless. Not once has he been defeated"

Lionel grinned as he seemed to finish where Richie finished, "They say he was known as Clinton Field."

Moving his gaze from Richie back to Lionel, blood began to seep from his eyes as Lionel looked into them, or seemingly so.

Immediately Lionel was plunged into darkness, but as he tried to gain his footing a hand grabbed his shoulder from the back.

Looking back he saw his mother's face ripped to piecesand riddled with holes as she cried blood cursing him, "Its yOuR FauLt I hAd to DIEEee!! I hATE you!!!! YoUUU…Hehehe…"

"No mother, it wasn't my FAULT! I…" Lionel stood in the abyss with shock colored on his face, but before the fear and trauma could grab ahold of him he found himself back on the chair, along with tears that started falling from his eyes at some point.

His frozen smile making such a scene as scary as could be.

Clinton observed him for a second, almost as if gauge how deeply rooted the fear was, then shook his head.

"Weak."

Lionel's body shook when he heard those words. 'He's talking to me?… Am I really weak?' If someone else said these words he might believe them but now he couldn't help but doubt himself.

The chains that bound him and Richie fell as Clinton who sat on the table was now by the door seemingly disappointed.

"You both have passed the selection. Do what u want, but don't ever display such arrogance when you can't handle a glance.

"Who are you to show excitement?"

The words fell like waves on Lionel's ears.

Clinton massaged the area between his brows as he opened the door, before opening his eyes to reveal a set of blue eyes once more, which seemed to be his preferred color.

"You've wasted my time. To think this is all a Kage has to offer." Then he walked out the door.

Wiping his tears Lionel stood up his eyes turning dull. And his smile vanishing.

"Let's go."

"Alright."

Richie nodded his head and stood up, but he was really wondering what in this world could possibly make this little brother of his cry.

There shouldn't be anything except…

When he realized what happened his eyes grew cold. What else could it be, if not Lionel's mother?

'Illusionist?' Richie thought for a moment.

Lionel might seem like the personification of confidence but he had his insecurities.

She didn't die when Lionel was born like those cliché's but he heard from the other chefs to never brig the word up in from of Lionel.

When asked how she died he received no reply.

"I'll put him in his place don't worry."

But then it happened.

Lionel looked towards Richie and he felt all his previous dominance disappear, excitement in his eyes, sweat on his back.

The presence of what could only be a shadow emperor making itself known.

The world would kneel before the majesty and the rivers flow with a wave of his hand. This was the true Lionel and Richard was very much scared.

"Don't touch another man's things."

He had made his decision, he wouldn't let anyone demean him so easily.

'Who is he to judge what a Kage has to offer. If he doesn't kneel before me I am not Lionel Kage.' Lionel was demeaned and was frustrated, since when had he been looked down on. This world belonged to no one but him. He would make sure they understood that one fact.

Talent was irrelevant, nothing mattered before his will.

He swore to make Clinton beg for mercy in his heart, his eyes regaining their sharpness. With that the pressure vanished as he walked out the door.

When Lionel was out of sight and Richie calmed down he found himself laughing besides himself.

"How does he do that? I should have full control of my body but those eyes make me burn with excitement.

"I shall follow you as long as your eyes gleam like that Emperor." Richie swore to himself before he followed suit, walking out the door.

"Well Field?! You met with the Kage, come on, how was it?!" A loud fella with a large build, dark skin and brown curly ruffled Clinton's blonde hair playfully. If others saw this they would give him a silent prayer.

Clinton's eyes flickered between red and blue for a moment but a passerby would have never noticed.

"Stop that Cane, lest I kill you." He was already in a sour mood he didn't need this Cane guy rubbing it in his face.

"You? Kill me?! Hahaha!" The young man named Cane seemed to ignore Clinton's words as he continued to press on.

"Now answer, Do we need to take action?" He gave off a little pressure to his surroundings when his spoke, as if the world resonated with his will, it didn't seem to be a conscious effort on his part.

"Let us move to another area." Clinton sent a glance his way but ultimately did nothing, he didn't know if he could beat this man.

Arriving at a caerian location, the two seeped into the walls, as soon as they did a mechanical female A.I spoke.

The voice rang in their heads so none of their information was revealed to the other.

"Let's go."

They navigated their way through the seemingly complex building before they stopped at a particular door. Clinton reached out his hand to knock but someone had already answered.

A kind looking lady who dressed corporately and wore glasses opened the door as she lowered her head lightly as greetings, before she said, "He is waiting inside."

As soon as the two entered the got down on one knee as they saluted, "Greeting Inheritor Disciple Chen Yu."

An aloof voice broke the silence after a while, "What is the report."

"Not a threat."

Clinton quickly replied lest he angers the man before him.

Chen Yu adjusted his glasses as he slowly turned his chair that was faced to the back to view those before him. "Good. You are dismissed."

"Thank you sir!"

They both got up, gave a bow and exited the room. But didn't notice the glint in Chen Yu's green eyes.

After they left he revealed a light smile. He had just receive a transmission regarding some info pertaining a rather sensitive topic. 'It seems like the next few years will be quite eventful… Lionel Kage hmm.'
