Chereads / Two Hearts: My Heart Is Within Yours, Angela / Chapter 83 - BIRTHDAY GATHERING

Chapter 83 - BIRTHDAY GATHERING

They landed in Brooklyn some hours later and Maths men led them out of the airport to where his Porsche was being packed. Mathias collected his car key, told his men to go about doing their things and that he was okay to drive since he and Angela were going to her house. He nudged Angela to enter the car and she took the front seat.

Passing through the Brooklyn bridge, Angie remembered the night they had visited the bridge and how he had hugged her. She turned to face, to ask the question she had been wanting to ask for the past years, "Maths," she called.

He gave her a side glance and returned his gaze to the road, "Yes?"

"Do you remember the night we visited the bridge, why_"

"I'll tell you about it later," he cut her short with a smile without looking at her face.

"You didn't even listen to me," she mumbled and also took her face to the road.

"I knew you were gonna ask sooner or later," he replied.

"So now you answer me later?"

"Yes."

She nodded her head in agreement, "Okay."

"What's your brother's favourite snack?" He asked after a short silence.

"Ores," she replied as she watched people going about their business from the car screen.

"Let's drop by a mall and get him some of it," Mathias suggested and she replied with a nod. He always gets on her nerves.

"Are you angry with me?"

"No… I mean, not really," she answered and shrugged while Mathias chuckled.

"You get angry these days, Angie, what had gone wrong with you while you were in Pennsylvania?"

"I took a broken heart there," she conveyed and Mathias's laughter increased.

"So it made you an aggressive person?" He implored but she gave him no response.

Some minutes later, they were inside the mall getting gifts for Dennis. Mathias bought him his best chocolate which Angie had told him about. He also bought himself a silver wristwatch and three latest sneakers. He bought a pack of exclusive shirts for her dad and a black book that matched his occupation.

Soon they were at Angie's gate blaring to get in. Dennis came running out of the house and opened up the gate. He blushed all along seeing Maths again. After they had met the other day, he had called and Dennis had grown much love for him.

They all went into the house and Angie was welcomed with a party popper and a big cake. They sang the birthday song for her again and asked her to make her wish which she did by closing her eyes.

"What do you wish for?" Mathias asked, trying to tease her even when he knew she wouldn't reveal it to her.

"I'll tell you that later," she whispered and rolled her eyes at him.

"Okay, so is that your payback?"

"Yes it is, any problem?" she requested.

"You still won't tell me later too, right?" He said and helped her pour some fruity wine into her glass cup after she rejected the one with alcohol in it.

"Then why did you ask me about it?" She scoffed and focused on her father who was making a call to her mother. She didn't like the fact that they still communicate since she didn't want to meet with her but her mother has promised to visit them in New York.

Mr Thompson ended the call grinning ear to ear and Angie was forced to comment, "You must have discussed something interesting, what was that?" She asked her father whose grin turned into laughter.

Between his laughter, he uttered, "It's a surprise."

Angie scoffed, "Have fun."

Dennis ushered them to the dining room as his father had ordered. He then began to serve them the food he and his father had prepared for Angie's birthday.

Angie, seeing how the table was filled with food, gasped, "You made this all by yourselves?" She asked, checking out the food, "You made my best burger!" She shrieked.

Her father chuckled while Dennis made fun of her, "I couldn't concentrate on my school things and here you are so excited," he uttered and faced Maths, "How do you cope with her?"

Mathias curved a smirk on his lips and ruffled his head, That's why she's my girlfriend."

"Lies, I wouldn't like a girlfriend like her. My girlfriend doesn't act like a dummy like her," he taunted. Weird eyes stared largely at him with his last statement.

"You have a girlfriend?" Mr Thompson and Angie exclaimed.

"Of course I do, you should meet her," he mumbled and started mulching on his meals leaving them to their amazement.

Angie shook her head and also started eating, joining them were her father and Maths. During their meal, Mathias decided to ask Mr Thomson some questions.

"Mr Thompson?" He called as he dropped his cutlery on the desk, interlocking his hands after placing it on the table, ready for discussion. Mr Thompson answered and he went on with his question, "Angie said you work with the navy?"

"Hmm," Mr Thompson mumbled and nodded his head.

"Have you ever had cases of an installed volt?" He requested earning a glance from Angie and Dennis who couldn't understand what he meant.

"Yes we have and it is more likely to have been placed inside the engine of our ship but we were able to figure it out before it could have blown out," he relayed.

Mathias shook his head, "Were you able to figure out who fixed it there?" He asked.

"Yes, we did. We found our co-worker had done it to kill himself and endanger others that were in the boat."

"What does a volt means?" Angie asked. Mathias was about to answer when Mr Thompson shook his head for him not to. Angie might start to worry about his occupation.

Dennis who got the situation quickly spoke up, changing the topic, "Pass me the cheesecake, please Angie," he pointed at the cheesecake that was in front of her.

Angie laughed, "When last have you said please for me, arrogant boy?"

"Maybe I just have to say it because you're closer to it. Who knows what you could do next?" He shrugged, receiving the plate of cheesecake.

"Angie you have forgotten to give the boy his gift," Mathias said.

"What's that?!" Dennis cried out.

Angie eyed Dennis, "He doesn't deserve it."

After their breakfast, Angie went to her room to do video calls with her top fans and also to request a contract termination leaving her dad with Maths who talked about how he could find the model of the volt he and his men were searching for.
