"oh you're here" the officer I was talking to Mira mom said with a small smile and get cured the woman towards Mira's mom.
Mira's mom looked at the lady in front of her. The lady would probably be in her mid-forties . She wore a red seductive gown that had a split from the leg to her laps revealing only a little of her body and with matching red heels. She also had a necklace around her neck which had the same kind of diamond as the ring that was found in Mira's house.
Then Mira gasped and her mom turned to look at her wondering why they was a surprised look on her face.
"Madam Ri" she called her softly. The woman turned and gazed at her. No one could tell whether she was angry or not cause she wore glasses that hid her eyes so that no one could know her emotions.
She was as a matter of fact angry and her eyes were red looking at the girl behind bar.
"Is she the one?" The officer asked and the woman nodded. He gestured for her to take a seat beside Mira's mum.
"Well Mrs Levenson, she is the owner of the ring and the person that suspected your daughter stole it" Mira's mom looked at the woman she has never seen before and wondered how it was possible that she could accuse her daughter so falsely.
"But you can't be sure. There must be a miss understanding. You don't even have evidence to prove it" Mira's mom pointed out for them.
"Now that's where you're wrong. We may not have evidence to show that she took it but we have a witness" that was when Mira's mom and Mira became very confused.
Who could it be that have testified against me falsely...Mira wondered.
All this while her ex boss kept quiet and not saying anything whether she allowed the police officer to do the talking for her.
She also kept a straight face so it was quite difficult to read her and tell what she was thinking.
Mira thought she has been set up. Maybe someone who hated her wanted to have her behind bars. But she never knew it wasn't what she really thought.
"Ma'am where is your witness" he asked the lady in front of him.
"I believe he will be here soon officer" she answered curtly and just then he walked in.
He kept his head low.... avoiding all eyes that were staring at him and wondering who he was. Maybe out of guilt or embrassment, he wore a hoodie to hide his face . But he knew he couldn't hide it for too long.
"Great your here". Lady(madam) Ri said with a smirk still without taking off her glasses and look at the young man.
Mira's mom tried to have a better look at the so called witness.
"Young man, please take off the hoodie. "The officer behind the desk commanded and slowly, he took off the hoodie from his face and gazed directly at the officer. Avoiding looking at Mira and her mom. Mira and her mom gasped still looking at him.
Lady Ri smiled at him and gave him a small nod Even though he didn't see it. He was too scared and guilty to turn his head and look at anyone, afraid he will come in contact with those blue eyes he's been trying to avoid.
"Officer, this is Jayden, my witness" along with jayden, her lawyer too was present.
The officer only nodded and lady Ri relaxed back as she allowed her lawyer to take over .
"Yes officer, as my client had said before, this is the witness, Jayden" he said curtly..
"Young man, are you sure you saw her" he said pointing at Mira, "stealing from mrs Rita here" he asked. It would be wrong if he accused her falsely and would also be arrested.
"No officer" he replied and swallowed hard. Lady Ri stared at him wondering if he was going to back down from their agreement until he added.. "I didn't see her stealing it directly from her house but I saw her leaving lady Ri house with the ring in her hand. I asked her why she took and she confessed that she wanted to sell it to repay her debts since she didn't have money" he concluded and Mira's mom looked at him disbelief.
Mira couldn't help the tears that were flowing from her eyes. She couldn't believe that he would one day stab her like this to the point of wanting her to be in prison for something she didn't do.
"I believe you heard that Mrs Levenson" the officer turned to Mira's mom who was still shocked.
"This is not true. He's lying. I can't believe you could do this to my daughter" she had already broken into tears. The officer handed her a handkerchief while looking at her with pity. He believed that Mira possibly wasn't the thief and maybe someone was trying to frame her but he can't do anything about it cause they have a witness.
"Well, you will have to prove. I advice you get a good lawyer to fight this case for you"...
