ALPHA KALISTA DRACONIS' POV
I look at Alpha Gray for a long time, examining his features as though I had not seen him a few years back. His eyes are still the same, boring into mine with precision. Even though I have not seen him in years, he still looks the same, and the look in his eyes is the exact look he had when he first set his eyes on me after I maimed his soldier.
I tear my eyes from his and turn to my guards, signaling them to leave us alone. Alpha Gray does the same and soon, I am alone with him in the warm room.
"I suppose you got my letter," Alpha Gray says with a smirk, clearly proud of himself.
"Isn't it obvious? Why else would I be here?" I ask, already getting irritated by his cockiness.
"True. Now that you are here, I suppose we can talk." Alpha Gray says, pointing at the comfy-looking couch behind me.
I let out my breath in a soft whoosh and sit across him.
"As I said before, I need your help, my pack members are dying as we speak." I tell him, looking into his eyes and trying to read his expression as I speak. However, I see nothing; he is not moved by the fact that I mentioned that my pack members are dying.
"I understand your predicament, Alpha Kalista, and I am ready to help." He says.
Joy and relief well up inside of me, but I try my best not to make this known. "I really appreciate your kindness, Alpha Gray. Is there anything we as a pack could do for you in return for this magnanimity of yours?" I ask him. My pack is well known for the production of very quality food products, and I could arrange that a certain percentage of the produce is given to the Black Fur Pack on a monthly basis as a token of our gratitude.
Alpha Gray Dexter smirks again. "Oh, Alpha Kalista, you of all people should know that you giving me something in return goes without saying." He says.
The emphasis he lays on 'something' does not sit right with me, and I have a feeling that I will not like the answer to the question I am about to ask.
"What do you want, Alpha Gray?" I ask anyway.
"You….and your pack," he says without batting an eyelid.
A frown immediately finds its way to my face. "I…what do you mean?" I ask, my heart thumping furiously against my ribcage.
"I want you in my bed, Alpha Kalista, and not just for one night, but for numerous nights until I am done with you. Also, I want to be the one in charge of your pack and all her resources." He explains calmly.
My eyes narrow at him and I stare at him, waiting for him to laugh at loud and tell me that it is all a joke, but as the seconds pass by, I realize that he is dead serious.
"You have got to be kidding me!" I say and fly out of my seat. "You have really got some balls, Alpha Gray! Could you become more heartless?" I ask him and stand up to him when he slowly rises to his feet.
"I have no idea why you are trying to cause a scene, Alpha Kalista. It's either you accept the offer or you don't." He says in a calm voice and with a smirk that I want to wipe off with a slap.
"You only care about yourself, you are fucking selfish!" I say and storm out of the office. "You are so disgusting!" I say and spit on the floor, showing exactly how disgusted I am. If he had been standing really close to me, it would have landed on his body.
And I would have loved that.
I walk out of the room and my guards quickly approach me, wondering what has gone wrong. I assure them that all is well and we mount our horses, riding out of the pack without looking back. All through the ride back home, I am quiet and unhappy. Why the hell would that bastard do that? He has a reputation for fucking around, but I am still finding it hard to believe that he wants to fuck me like one of his whores.
"Son of a bitch," I mutter under my breath.
When I get back to the Lily White Pack, I dash straight into my room and instruct my personal Omega maid to prepare a hot bath for me. Soon, I am soaking in my bathtub, and it does well to relieve myself of the stress I am going through. I do not even know what to do, and I really need to speak with someone before I go crazy.
As if on cue, the door of the bathroom opens and Juliana walks in. She is wearing a short blue sundress and is looking at me as if she knows exactly what I am worried about.
"Juliana," I call her name, managing to flash her a smile.
"Kalista, how are you doing?" She asks me as she sits at the edge of the tub.
"I am fine, how about you?" I ask her as I scrub my body, and one look at her tells me that she does not believe that I am fine.
"I am good, but I am quite sure that you are not," she says, scrutinizing my face. "I was told that you got back in a foul mood from wherever you went." Juliana states with a frown on her face.
"Yeah….." This is all I can say, as my best friend has caught me.
"To start with, where did you go?" Juliana asks me.
"I had to go on a mission to find a cure to the Blizzard." I say, praying that my friend does not ask further questions; I just do not have the strength to explain all that has happened today.
"I take it that from your mood, you did not succeed." Juliana says and I nod my head sadly.
Juliana gets up from the edge of the tub and goes back into my room. I hear her open the door of the table-top refrigerator in my room and I know from experience that she is about to get some wine. Juliana always says that wine, champagne to be precise, is the cure to all problems.
Little does she know that this is one problem that even the choicest wine cannot solve.
"Here, have some wine." She says to me and hands me a glass.
"Thank you so much, Julia." I say to her and take a huge gulp of wine, trying so hard to drown my worries.
Uh-oh, calm down." Juliana chuckles softly.
I place my glass on the edge of the tub and step out of the bathtub. I pick up my towel and walk into my room while Juliana follows closely behind me.
"I'll be fine, Julie….I just need to be alone for a while and put my thoughts together." I tell her.
"I understand you perfectly." Juliana says and hugs me. "I'll come check on you in three years." She jokes.
"You wouldn't dare," I send her a playful glare as she exits the room.
After she leaves, I go into my closet and start to dress up. I intend to go to the hospital and check on the werewolves who have been infected by the Blizzard. When I get there, I am told that in the past three hours, thirty wolves have died. This news breaks my heart and I become weaker than I already am.
"Take it easy, Alpha Kalista," One of the nurses tells me and promptly goes to fetch me some water.
I do not wait for her to return. Instead, I saunter out of the hospital and walk towards the Mansion. I mind-link Kiara and ask her to meet me at the music room. It is a quiet place and helps me think.
Soon, Kiara comes in and sits on one of the couches in the warm, dark room.
"Alpha? Is anything the matter?" She asks me. "You only come here when your heart is really heavy." She observes.
"That's because my heart is." I state truthfully.
"What is going on? I know you are saddened by the death of our members, but we should be happy that there is a cure. All we have to do is find a way to obtain it from the Black Fur Pack." Kiara says.
"That is the problem." I tell her and she looks at me with a very confused look.
"What do you mean, Alpha?" She asks.
I reveal the content of the letter Alpha Gray had written to me, and I also tell her about my visit to the Black Fur Pack. Kiara is in shock.
"Whaattt????? Are you kidding me right now?" She asks angrily. "How dare he disrespect you like that? We need to go there and teach that haughty Alpha a big lesson!" She spits.
I love the fact that Kiara is very protective of me.
I am about to speak when one of the Omegas runs into the room, and what she says changes everything.
Everything.
