RILEY'S POV After two months stay in the hospital, I still couldn't remember my past. I had memory loss due to the accident. The only person I could talk to was Avery, she took me to different places like the beach, museum, parks and garden. I discovered that I loved nature, especially the sea and the night sky. I stayed indoors whenever we're not going out. I've asked Avery on different occasions to enlighten me about my past or what led to the accident but she never gave a proper response. I was in my room, thinking of how my past looked like, especially that little girl. "There's something weird about that girl", I said to myself. She comes once in a while, with one of the women I saw in the hospital. "That lady always stare at me", I whispered into the air. Anyway I needed answers, so I decided to ask her again and this time around I got what I wanted. "Hey, can I talk to you for a while?", I asked. "Yes sure, wassup", she replied. "Ammh, please be honest with me, what really caused the accident?, and why does that little girl call me her mom anytime she sees me?". The question hit her hard and her expression changed. "Hu...uh, oh yes, I mean", Avery said. "Did anything happen", I asked. "No, not at all", she replied with a smile. She gave a deep sigh, and sat closer to me. She exaled a deep breath and calmed her self down:
"Your name is Jason Riley. You're 23 years old. You have two siblings but one is late. Your parents died long ago, they died of a deadly disease. I don't know how they got it, but they are gone. At the age of 12, you were taken to the orphanage home and luckily someone adopted you and gave you the name Riley. Rewinding to the past four months, you were involved in an accident. From what I suspected, you had a bad day, you were mad and you were having an argument with the driver. He lost focus and control, and all of a sudden, the taxi you were on got hit by a truck. The medical team came and took you to the hospital. As a blessed child, God gave you a second chance, you're the only one that survived it, that's why you're alive. Your initial name was Leonard Pearl Marianne. Speaking of the little girl, she's just fond of calling you that before the accident took place".
" Wow, how did you know so much about me", I asked. "We used to be very close friends. We met in school in grade 7. After resumption, our teacher swapped student's seats and classes. Luckily, I met and we became seat mates. Since then we became friends although the teacher changed our seats twice", she giggled. "I had a mix of emotions. On one hand, it was a relief to know a little more about myself but on the other hand, I had lots of losses. I think I was better not to know of", I stated. I believed everything Avery told me because I trusted her. She told me so many things and even about herself, we laughed and talked about other things and our bond grew stronger.
