It was a rare cloudy day. It was much cooler than usual, but when they walked up the mountain, they felt even cooler.
This was Wang Cuizhi's first time on the mountain, and she was brought along by the little girl the entire time. Along the way, they saw many beautiful flowers. Wang Cuizhi imitated her actions and carefully dug them up by the roots and placed them in the basket.
As they walked, Su Ling saw that the small basket was almost full. She was very happy and chattered to them about where to plant the flowers. Before they went down the mountain, she was attracted by something.
She walked over, knelt down, sniffed, and suddenly smiled.
"It smells good."
Wang Cuizhi squatted down with her and took a closer look. She asked uncertainly, "Is this wild onion?"
Su Ling nodded. "That's right. This is delicious for scrambled eggs!"
Thinking of this, she suddenly said mysteriously, "I saw Mother buy a lot of eggs yesterday and cover them with straw, but I still saw them!"
When Wang Cuizhi saw her mischievous appearance, she could not help but pat her head.
Su Ling frowned as if she was unhappy.
Wang Cuizhi was at a loss. "What's wrong? Did Auntie do something wrong?"
The girl looked at her and pouted.
"Auntie, you just dug up flowers. You haven't washed your hands yet."
Wang Cuizhi was stunned for a moment before she suddenly laughed loudly.
"Yes, yes, yes. Auntie is wrong. Auntie will wash her hands before touching little Su Ling's head."
Su Ling nodded and did not say anything else. Then, she squatted down and carefully dug the wild onions.
The wild onions were tender and she accidentally broke them. After all, she was still too young and could not control her strength well, so she broke several of them at once.
She was getting upset now. She puffed up her cheeks and stood by sulking.
Wang Cuizhi held back her laughter and squatted down to dig for wild onions. She controlled her strength just right and soon dug up a lot.
Su Ling smiled again and looked at Wang Cuizhi with admiration.
"Auntie is so awesome ~"
Wang Cuizhi felt a little smug from her praise. She looked at the youth behind her and handed over the small pickaxe.
"Zhao Yan, why don't you try it too?"
The young man said nothing, but took the pickaxe from her hand.
His movements were even more clumsy than Su Ling's, and he was a little strong. He broke many of them at once.
The girl's face was wrinkled and he looked like he was about to cry. Wang Cuizhi couldn't stand it anymore and quickly brought the pickaxe over.
Zhao Yan stood behind them helplessly. He looked at Su Ling for a long time and finally took out a candy from his pocket.
He walked toward her, palm open. "Here's some candy. Don't cry."
Su Ling was immediately attracted by the candy. She happily took it, opened it, and put it in her mouth.
"It's so sweet ~"
Seeing that she had regained her smile, Zhao Yan finally felt relieved. Then, he followed them to the river to wash the wild onions.
When they reached the river, Wang Cuizhi was in charge of washing the wild onions. The two children stood at the side.
Su Ling looked at Zhao Yan with sparkling eyes.
"Zhao Yan, why do you have so much candy?"
The young man was silent for a moment before he spoke. "My mother gave it to me."
Su Ling looked at Wang Cuizhi, who was still busy by the river, and nodded.
Auntie was nice. She liked Auntie.
Meanwhile, Wang Cuizhi was completely unaware of all this. She only returned with a basket after washing up.
"Let's go back. After we give the wild onions to your mother, shall I plant flowers with you?"
As she spoke, she looked at Zhao Yan.
The young guy quickly said, "Then I'll join you."
