Chapter 3 - Chapter 3 : Register X Brother X Depart

Shinji dressed up and went out after filling his stomach.

"If I recall correctly, the hunter exam will begin on January 7th, 1999, and now it's November 12th, 1998, which means I have less than two months until the exam, and given the distance, I must depart early or else I will be late."

He doesn't want to waste time, and the sooner he begins his journey, the better, so he plans to go and register for the Hunter Exam first.

Within an Internet cafe

Shinji went to the official website of the hunter association.

"So, where can I register?" He discovered the registration section after scanning the page.

*click*

He was redirected to another page where he had to enter his name, age, address, and so on...

He completed the entire page, and when he submitted the request, a small box appeared.

"The hunter examination will begin on January 7, 1999, in Zaban City."

"Is this a hint from the hunter organization?"

"Zaban city?" "Where is this location?"

He found the city's location by searching the Internet.

"Zaban city is in Kukan'yu kingdom; there is no airport nearby, so the only way to get there is by ship to Dolle harbor."

Shinji stood up and walked away from the Internet coffee.

He arrived at his destination after walking through several alleys.

He Stood in front of a tall, nice-looking Building.

This was an old, abandoned three-story building. Later, with the help of The Beggars Gang members, they were able to clean it, dye it, and even add two more floors.

This is Their headquarters! And also their home!

Apart from the boss of the gang and some senior members, the majority of the members who live here are homeless and orphan children. Others, like Shinji, who prefer to be alone and quiet, have chosen to live outside.

Shinji Entered the building, The first floor is a gym where the gang member can train. Although the equipment is old it still works.

the scene was quiet.

"those brats still sleeping till now, this isn't a good habit!"

Shinji muttered as he walked into the gym. He will always tell the kids to get up early in order to train their muscles to have the strength to defend themselves

When he entered, he noticed a bulky young boy, about 18 years old, doing a bench press.

Shinji looked at the weight he was pushing with interest. He came across a number that almost made his jaw drop.

He got closer and took a closer look.

'100 kg! plus the ones on the other side, which means he's lifting 200 kg plus the weight of the bar itself, which is at least 205 kg... Are all humans in this world monsters like this?'

The young boy pushing the 200 kg was so focused on his training that after completing 15 repetitions easily, he placed the barbell. only Then he noticed someone behind him.

Peter smiled as he saw Shinji.

"Shinji! "Why did you arrive so early?"

He took a towel, wiped the sweat from his body, and drank some water.

Peter is The leader of The beggars' Gang.

Yes! This young boy is his boss!

Shinji's respect for this boss had almost reached the level of worship before Awakening his memories!

Because Peter is not only his benefactor, but he also provided Shinji with shelter and protected him from bullying when he was a child. moreover, he is super strong!

Peter is his friend who also plays the role of his big brother.

"Brother Peter"

"I just wanted to tell you something."

"Well, I just finished my workout, so let's go eat something before you tell me what you want to say!"

Shinji then followed him up to the second floor.

Peter quickly finished preparing his breakfast and was about to share it with Shinji when but the latter refused.

"Thank you, but I've already eaten my breakfast."

Peter didn't insist and start eating.

Shinji didn't speak up right away; instead, he waited until Peter said:

"So, what are you going to say?"

Shinji had a solemn expression on his face as he looked at Peter. This dignified atmosphere infected the latter as well.

"Brother, please let me take the Hunter exam!"

Shinji didn't need anyone's permission to do what he wanted, but he was afraid that if he went without saying anything, he would make them worry about him and cause trouble for them. So he decides to tell his older brother about his adventure.

'Big Brother needs to know where I'm going or he'll worry about me.'

Shinji who never experienced the caring of others since his parents left him, deeply cherishes his relationship with his big brother.

*cough* *cough* *cough*

"Damn it, buddy don't die! Here, drink water!"

Shinji was almost scared when he saw his big brother Shocking!

He gave him a Bottle of Water.

"I'm sorry,*cough* but this was completely unexpected!" Peter stated. He drank the water and felt a little better afterward.

"What motivates you to take the Hunter Exam?" You're aware of the high casualty rate!"

Patter treats Shinji like His little brother, he doesn't want his brother to die because of a mere Hunter License, no matter how tempting the benefits of a hunter license, in Peter's eyes it's nothing compared to the life of his brother!

"Don't forget, if you leave, our gang's power will plummet; only me, you, and Abraham can protect these kids!"

Shinji is his right hand; he and their other friend Abraham are the beggar's gang's pillars; they are the umbrella that protects this area!

"Do you think I don't know all of this, Brother?" I'm sorry for being selfish, but I've already decided that this Hunter Exam is something I must take! Furthermore, it won't be long before I return; only three months!"

Peter stared at him for a long time before responding.

"Could you explain why?" He inquired.

He knows Shinji well, and he does not believe Shinji is interested in the benefits of the hunter license like the majority of the other participants.

Shinji didn't hide it; after all, there's nothing to hide, and his intention is simple

"No, that is not why I want to take the hunter exam!"

"passing the hunter exam is only a mean to get...POWER!"

"You can only obtain that power by passing the hunter exam!"

The power he's referring to is, of course, Nen.

If he is willing, he can go to heaven's arena and receive the baptism of those 200-floor players; after all, he does not have to be concerned about his life like others.

However, this meant he had to explore everything by hand, wasting a lot of time mastering the fundamental techniques!

If, on the other hand, he passes the hunter exam, he will be instructed by a teacher and will be able to learn Nen more Systematically without wasting time and exploring everything on his own.

Peter was perplexed; this response was both surprising and strange.

As if he understood, he said, "you mean the power that came from the identity of being a hunter?"

The ability to use public facilities for free is just the tip of the iceberg of what a Hunter license can do. Hunters can easily find high-paying jobs, and joining those aristocratic families as their bodyguards is enough to change your life.

If they have a hunter in their area, nobody will dare to trouble them!

Shinji shook his head.

Peter was even more puzzled " What kind of power are you talking about?"

Other than his previous guess, he can't think of any other way the hunter license can bring you power.

Shinji remained silent, he is sorting his thoughts, what he is about to say may shock Peter a lot, he may not believe it, but he is sure to let him believe it!

"Brother Peter, have you ever wondered, what kind of people Hunters are? Why they are so respected? Why do They have all this privilege? What makes them so revered?"

Shinji looked at Peter, waiting for the other party to digest what he had said.

Peter shook his head, he never cared about these things, besides training and protecting his gang then other things were simply ignored.

"Brother Peter, allow me to show you a little of what this world has hidden from us!"

"What exactly do you mean? Shinji, you seem odd today!"

Shinji didn't say anything to him, but instead pointed to the bottle of water in front of Peter.

"Look, this is what they hide from us!"

His gaze is drawn to the bottle by Shinji's finger.

Shinji had already summoned the black ghost.

It stretched its arms and held the bottle.

Under Peter's watchful gaze, a scene that made him think he was hallucinating appeared in front of him.

'Am I dreaming?' He rubbed his eyes again, thinking, 'Perhaps I'm just tired?

In the eyes of Peter, the bottle flew toward Shinji and started circling around him. as if it was held by a mysterious force.

Peter looked at Shinji with shock on his face, as if he realized.

"Are you the one who did this, Shinji?" Is this the power you mentioned?"

Shinji considered it and decided to lie; the Black ghost isn't a product of Nen, but he can't explain it, so he had to attribute it to Nen.

"Yes, this is the power I mentioned; this is what gives those Hunters their privilege."

Peter did not interrupt Shinji because he is extremely curious about whether he can also acquire this power, so he listened intently to Shinji's words.

"This power is known as Nen!"

"Nen?" Peter repeated the new vocabulary he had picked up.

"It is the art of manipulating life energy…"

"Any living being, human, animal, monster, or otherwise...all of them contain life energy...But!" He spoke slowly, afraid of overloading Peter with information.

"They have no control over it!"

"Their life energy simply leaks through their bodies, and they continue to lose it until their lives are cut short and they die."

He continued.

"On the other hand, there are people who society refers to as psychics, superhumans, and so on because they have managed to control their life energy and acquire strange abilities."

Peter can't help but wonder.

"How did they get it?"

After all, no one can resist the allure of power, Shinji reasoned.

"There are two types of people; the first I call self-awakening; this type of person managed to open their aura node and awaken their Nen abilities under certain circumstances." I happen to be of this type, and by chance, I was able to awaken this ability."

To conceal the source of his ability, he attributes it to luck.

Peter nodded, finally understanding.

"And the second type?" he inquired.

Shinji replied.

"On the other hand, there are those who learned it on their own, either through the guidance of a teacher or by being attacked by a Nen user and surviving to awaken their Nen!"

Peter remained silent, and said something bothered him; it stands to reason that such information should be kept a secret, but...

"How do you know this thing?"

He didn't question Shinji's words because he knows Shinji had no reason to lie to him, and the best prof is the floating bottle in front of him.

"The source of this information cannot be disclosed, but it is absolutely true!"

Peter posed the critical question.

"Given that you appear to have Nen, why do you still want to take the hunter exam?"

Shinji said.

"I'm a self-awakened, and my ability only appeared a few days ago, so I'm still a beginner in terms of Proficiency." I heard that if you pass the hunter exam, a Nen user will be assigned to teach you Nen properly, which is exactly what I need right now."

"After I learn Nen, I will return and teach it to you, Abraham, and all of our gifted brothers."

"Then We'll Destroy That Bastard Erick's Gang And our Beggars gang will be more prosperous by then!"

Hearing Shinji's words, Peter don't know why but he had the urge to cry. What a good young brother!

"But are you certain you'll pass the hunter exam?" Even though you appear to have Nen, who knows what trials await you?"

"Have a little faith in me, Brother Peter!" I swear when I return, I'll already be a hunter!"

"With the hunter identity and Nen's power, it's only a matter of time before we realize our dream!"

"To become the world's number one righteous gang!" they both said at the same time.

They exchanged glances and laughed.

"When are you planning to leave?" Peter inquired.

Shinji replied, "Today's evening."

"Why this hurry?" peter was surprised.

"I have less than two months to get to the location where the hunter exam will be held; I don't want to lose just because I didn't get there on time!"

"If that's the case, would you like me to wake the kids and let them send you off?"

"There is no need; doing so will only draw unnecessary attention; you understand what I mean better than I do."

"You mean Erick?...you are correct, that bastard will undoubtedly try to attack us again if he knows you aren't here."

Then Peter appears to recall something, "Right, I almost forgot, wait a minute, I will return now."

He then went to the top floor.

He came down a few moments later, holding something in his hand.

"Take this; you'll need it on your journey."

He handed Shinji an envelope, and when he saw what was inside, he felt a warm current run through his heart.

"Thank you very much, brother Peter!"

"This money arrived just in time."

"There are no formalities between our brothers."

Shinji definitely needs money. after all, he can't swim across the ocean for the time being.

After exchanging a few words, he bid Peter farewell.

"I wish you the best of luck, brother" Peter said.

He looked at the hour on the wall, then he cursed.

"It's 011:30 a.m., and these brats are still sleeping!"

He then went to awaken them.

Returning to his rented room.

Shinji had packed everything he thought he'd need for his trip.

Clothing, food, and even a blanket in case he had to sleep outside.

He placed his hand on the linens.

"Store!"

They vanished when he issued the order!

He did the same thing with everything else.

Whatever he touches will vanish in the blink of an eye.

"This pocket dimension is simple to use!"

Shinji can't help but admire the Inheritance Boundary's third function.

-The Inheritance Boundary's Third Function:

-Pocket Dimension

-Description: a 10 cubic meter three-dimensional space in which the host can store anything except living beings.

Soul Points can be used to expand the pocket dimension; for every 10 SP, the space increases by one cubic meter.

This function was revealed to him only after he made his first inheritance draw. He almost forgot about it because he was too preoccupied with the joy of gaining immortality and registering for the hunter exam.

"This function makes traveling more convenient!"

Shinji sighed as he took one last look around his room, where he had spent the majority of his life.

He pushed open the door. and walked away.

"Hunter Test!" Yours truly, Shinji Kuroda, is on his way!"
