He left the manor. Elder Mouah quickly wiped the sweat on his face using his sleeve.
"For balance in the court," he thought. He laughed coldly.
The attendants stepped back and bowed their heads.
Ceryl stood their like a statue. His one of the few aces of the younger generation. He also has passed his tribulation and became a minor sage.
He has been guarding elder Mouah for four years now.
Finally elder Mouah gestured that it was time for them to leave.
They both left through the backdoor in their carriage.
It is almost dusk before the envoys finally got a Haghi town.
They asked around for a suitable tavern. Barlo who was in charge of managing their rations twitched his face.
He believed that they could have stayed somewhere else.
"You have to enjoy life, it comes once," Valix teased him.
They stepped inside the tavern. They sat down, the attendants immediately came and asked what they needed.
The owner of the tavern already know they are not ordinary travelers. Their auras are exceptional, he concluded that they must be aces.
After a few minutes, they have become drunk except Karnez who pretended to be drunk as well.
The boss had drugged their drinks, expecting to get information out of them. He used the truth-eye-dream drug.
Truth-eye-dream drug is a type of drug used to get the truth out people. It is a very rare drug made from the rarely seen false snow flower.
Because of its unique mode of digestion, it is not easily countered for the first few minutes.
By now, the whole tavern was empty except the twelve envoys lying helplessly on the floor.
"Who are you people?" he asked
"The imperial envoys," Vynax answered smiling.
His face was slightly reddish in colour with a patch of green on his lips.
Karnez grabbed his spear firmly. He wants to strike the man and then interrogate him to know his intentions.
In a matter of seconds, he jumped into the air and moved rotating to the left and back in a split seconds and stabbed the man on his thigh.
"Swoosh! Swoosh!"
To his surprise the man is no ordinary as well. He fought back. He stepped back even with the wound, he used the table near him to elevate himself, twirling in the air he pointed his sword towards Karnez with a roar.
"Nether step? Devil clan? Who are you?"
They continued to collide.
"Boom!"
"Boom!"
Karnez became angrier after seeing the movement technique used by the man.
He would always perfectly evade his strikes and hide like an assassin.
"Hmph you won't know," the man sneered in disdain.
Karnez snorted in disdain. If not that he wanted to get some clue from him he would have killed him already.
The more they fought the uglier the assassin's face becomes, he can see that karnez is not even using his full strength.
"Damnit!"
'These geniuses must be from the imperial clan, what do I do?'
While he was lost in thoughts, he felt a dangerous chill behind him, but it was already late.
"Spear of oblivion!" Karnez shouted coldly.
"Noo!"
If he allowed this man to leave then all his years in Lhney Academy would have been a waste.
Therefore he used the sage technique spear of oblivion.
Karnez easily dodged the attack and struck him with the beam of his spear. The boss then lost his balance and his sword slipped out of
his hands.
"Bang!"
"Ahh!" the man screamed in pain.
Karnez have ruthlessly crippled his cultivation.
He immediately reached into his inner pocket and brought out a bottle, he removed the lid and swallowed the whole liquid.
In few seconds he slumped down, his eyes turned black in colour.
Karnez knew that he probably took poison to prevent him from leaking any information.
He used his spear to project himself, by the time the man opened his eyes Karnez was already standing before him.
"Who are you?" he asked coldly
The dying man coughed and spat out dark blood.
He continued laughing, "you people can't stop us…" with that he slumped and died.
Karnez stood there in complete trepidation. He has never felt this kind of shock before.
The man that just committed suicide is at least an early stage minor sage. What kind of people are we going to meet in this journey he thought.
Finally, he remembered his comrades. He brought out the jelly-powder from his pocket.
This was given to him by elder Lavik. It is for rejuvenation powder, but it can also counter the effect of truth-eye-dream since the later uses up ones energy to overcome their mind to access information.
He sat down on the floor, deep in thought. After few minutes the others began to wake up. Vynax was the first. He was startled.
"What happened?" he asked in confusion.
"He was a traitor," Karnez answered pointing at the cloth-clothed man lying on the floor. Karnez didn't explain further.
"What did he say, were you able to get any information?"
Karnez saw the anxiety on the faces of his comrades with the exception of Jaroy who appeared to be calm.
"You people can't stop us."
