"Kill me and your child!" Aria shouted.
Bryce held onto the pistol, leaning the muzzle into her forehead, and planning to end her life in a matter of seconds. But Aria spoke something that made him halt. Bryce lost those defiant eyes, softening in every ragged breath he had remained. Aria's tears streamed down continuously.
"Kill me… and your child will be dragged along with me," Aria warned.
Bryce gritted his teeth. Sweat poured out of his forehead, trickling down. He couldn't get away with the plan both Prince and him had plotted out for half a decade. He's been into it back and forth, and when the time's right, and all of it was set, Bryce and Prince conditioned themselves to kill out the twins.
"What are you talking about?"
Aria stared at his devilish eyes.
"What are you talking about?! You damn bastard!" Bryce yelled.
"I'm pregnant, Bryce!" Aria shouted. The crickets sounding along in the empty cabin joined the silence. Bryce couldn't remove it inside his head. He was trying not to get caught up with the confession, but his hand was simply dwindling away from pulling the trigger. Aria's wrists were tied behind her back, and she tried to cut it away, but it's not giving up.
"How…"
Bryce took a step back. Guilt washed over him. His subconscious screamed he's a law abiding citizen, that he needed to follow the rules, and that he's a prosecutor…
Can it be possible to charge him with the highest degree of murder of killing his own lover and his child?
"I thought you're a diligent and professional prosecutor. You're doing something against the law, but you never bat an eye and aimed a gun to me. Do you call yourself a kindhearted man? I was wrong to give in to you," Aria spat. Bryce staggered back, dropped the pistol on the ground, and bit his bottom lip. His knees have gone jelly, and he knelt down in front of Aria.
"Do you think you deserve that position of charging cases after cases in the Supreme Court? No, Bryce. You don't deserve any fame for being the most brilliant prosecutor they ever entitled!" Aria shrieked. She was about to get killed, but she had a knack to talk about how Bryce is the worst person that was ever alive on Earth. Aria gasped for air, her stuffed chest found it harder to gather up and calmed herself down.
"You should be the one dying, not me! What did I ever do to you for me to get a bullet in my head?!" she wept. Aria closed her eyes, and didn't want to observe Bryce anymore. He slid in closer, approaching Aria's feet, and bowed down his head. All of it slapped into him, and he can't afford to lose the one he loves.
"Go away here, Aria." Bryce looked up and it made Aria open her eyes. He shuffled in his position, reached out to her tied wrists, and pulled out a small knife. Bryce cut them off easily.
Aria felt her wrists stinging. Bryce patted her shoulder, and whispered, "Go away from me. I'm dangerous."
Aria looked at him desperately. The anger in her eyes wouldn't wash away too fast. She pushed him out of her way, and even kicked his balls. Bryce winced out of pain as Aria rubbed her wrists, hissing. She held onto her abdomen, knowing it's dangerous to have it since it's her first month.
Why does she have to give in to a man who can kill her?
Aria struts her way to the floor, picked up the pistol, and wondered what she should do with it. She looked at the lock, and pressed it. Aria pulled on a jacket, stuffed in the pistol inside, and zipped up, warming her up. Bryce was weaponless now, and holding his crutch.
Aria turned around, wondering, "What kind of a man are you if you couldn't tolerate the pain you have on your balls? What a joke."
Aria went out of the cabin, smelled the cold air, and fumbled for the lock. Bryce was still on the floor, watching as Aria goes away. She should be on the floor, swimming in a pool of blood. But Bryce has mercy…
He wouldn't kill the mother of his child.
Aria locked the door, stared at the wooden cabin, and the tears went out angrily. She wiped them furiously, run away as fast as possible, hauling in every corner, leaving Bryce inside.
…
Prince watched as Avery twitched on the ground, the blood splattering out of her mouth.
He was still holding the pistol in midair, but his eyes were on Avery.
Avery laughed like maniac. She mumbled, "You'll find me living once again, Prince. You'll find me…"
Prince didn't have a second thought but to blow her head off. With one swift motion, the bullet pierced through her forehead, tilting her head back. Avery's eyes rolled back to its sockets, and when the second fire erupted into thin air, the war still continued. Several bangs indicated Avery's members' death.
The smoke has thickened, and any moment now, the nearby village would check what happened. It can cause forest fire if they didn't blow it off as soon as possible.
Avery fell down to the ground, lifeless.
Prince hitched some air, withdrew the pistol back, and slipped it inside his coat like nothing happened.
He stepped on Avery's side, hunkering down, and watched the blood oozing out. It smelled like metal.
"How could I find you living again when we killed the other you?" Prince smirked. This dead woman was clueless. He stood up, turned to the chaotic banquet, and all there is left was his men. Dead bodies sprawled around the area, and based on their looks, they're Avery's women.
"Clean her body. Make sure there are no traces."
Prince's gaze darkened as he turned around, walking out of the venue, and onto the exit of the resort.
…
Aria found herself lost in the way. She doesn't know where to go.
She ran away from the cabin as far as possible. Aria doesn't care if she's pregnant. She had nowhere to go but the…
Aria saw a trail of smoke in the sky. She glanced at the spaces between the tree leaves. Aria pursed her lips, wondering if she should follow it or not.
"Sh*t. I should have known this would be hard if I ran away without Bryce's guidance," Aria whispered.
She doesn't have the time to think. Aria skimmed through the woods, ran on the safest route on the sea of leaves, and stumbled a little. She knew having to stall off inside the woods would mean death for her. If she found a clue on a way out, Aria would follow it.
She ran and ran and ran.
Aria couldn't even check her abdomen. All she knew was that it's hurting.
She wiped the sweat from her forehead as she saw a nearby street. Aria hid behind a large rock. She peeked at the street, and there were several cars parked in the front. Judging by the look of the street, it must be a resort, and it's on fire.
Before she could go along the way, she heard a gunshot.
Aria hid behind the rock, leaning back, and gaped. Aria remembered how she escaped from Bryce's pistol. She might be bleeding to death right now. As the gunshot dissipated, Aria thought of the next move.
When she saw a car opening up its back compartment, she had exactly known where to go.
