Chapter 1 - Distant memories

People say that 400 years ago, Terra grew angry with life on earth, so she ordered the destruction of the world, she broke the world apart and put it back together in distorted ways, and we survivors were no longer called humans, but rather Dissonants.

After that, Terra saw that we had survived and created life. Life used to exterminate the rest of the living. They came from rocks, trees, and the souls of the dearly departed. We call them; monsters; we aren't without hope.

Dissonants awakened to mana and another strange flow of energy, we found countless shrines that offered us power, but that power came with a cost. We had to give something up to the shrine. We learned to wield mana to our whims and created [Spells]. Using whatever we could use whether monster or steel we turned into weapons to combat the forces out to annihilate them. We soon formed a group of people who called themselves [Guilds]. These many guilds would encourage the next generation through a simple line of Dialog.

"Something's out there, and exploration is the only way to find it." From then on it's been 100 years.

"Come on Luck! You're so slow! Hehe!" a little girl yelled out to her brother

"I'm coming, sis... Slow down would you! And be careful! You could fall! And Grandpa said it's dangerous!" I said, catching up to my sister.

"Well we have to collect the old-world items Grandpa sells, and they only appear beyond Gray Garden!" The girl said turning around and going through the crevice that led to the place explorers had gone through.

"Alright...all we do is find those items and get back as fast as possible...We're not explorers, just townspeople..." I instructed my sister

"There's barely anyone in Gray Garden, plus how many kids like us have you seen from the last Era that are still alive?" My sister asked.

"None, I'm sure those [Sticks] monsters killed them or they became-" I stated before getting cut off

"Grandpa only made those up, It's been 100 years since someone last found any monsters, how bad do you think it could get?" The sister cut the boy off

"I-I guess you're right..." the boy looked around noticing some conveniently placed loot and noticed two jewels one being green and the other purple in a black exterior seemingly an accessory as Luck picked up the rectangular Jewel, the feeling of holding it in his hand gave him a sharp pain but put it in his pocket and went to pick up the accessory only for it to turn into a black slime as soon as he touched it and felt it clamp to his wrist.

"A-AAAAHHH!!" He teared up now feeling his arm go numb it was a feeling he was unfamiliar with as he tried to claw off the bracelet but it wouldn't budge. "I-It won't come off!" Luck said "Lucy! we need to go to Grampa. Maybe he can fix this!"

"HAHAHAHA!" a laugh could be heard as a humanoid figure approached them, but something was off. It had no skin, and its hands had knives built inside it as it rushed at the two children raising its hand to kill both of them.

"SHWIIII!" The stone in the bracelet shines causing the monster's large weapon hand to get stuck in the ground, giving enough time for me to counterattack it and escape with my sister, the jewel in my pocket glowing faintly as we went back down [Colosal Heights], my sister grabbing her small bag of items she managed to collect.

"Are you alright Luck?" my sister asked me, a bit worried

"Yeah, I'm alright, what about you, Lucy?" I asked her as we came through the entrance of Gray garden and started to walk over to the merchant.

"Well we should these and get back to grandpa, I don't want him to threaten us to put us in the dispute hall again" she shuddered

"It's alright... We won't get caught." I tried to reassure her with a smile.

"Sir, madam, all these items are worth 60 silver pieces"

"60? you didn't stiff us this time, you added on?"

"Stiff is too strong of a word, call it a tax," The merchant said placing a bag of silvers in front of us.

"Sis, count how many pieces there are" I was cautious, looking at the merchant as she quickly counted the pieces.

"55 pieces," Lucy said looking at me while I give her a head pat.

"Thanks," I tell her in gratitude, grinning as I looked at the merchant "So 60 pieces huh? fork em over!"

"I can't! I- The merchant's guild is running low on funds...sorry..."

"Tch!" I took the bag and walked off with my sister, holding my sister. "I hate merchants..." I grumbled holding the bag of Silver

"SHWIIIII!" The stone begins to shine again scaring both of them as a group of monsters started to invade Gray Garden with the little townspeople here panicking and running, it was the worst time possible for a monster invasion.

"Sis! come on!" I took her by the hand and ran towards Gramps... And then we saw him... He was fighting them off to save his life, I let go of Lucy's hand and ran faster than I ever had before and kicked the [Sticks] in the face and fell on my back. "UGH!" I picked myself up.

"Brother!" my sister clung to me with one hand, her other hand, balled in a fist she looked at me with fierce eyes as were surrounded by a team of [Sticks], we did our best to hold them off in the home we made with Gramps. I balled up my fist, looking at the sticks I tried to protect her when one of them attacked me, but the point stopped, I felt a liquid drop down on my nose, Grandpa, had the knife stuck in his chest.

"N-No... No No No No!!" I yelled and cried, my sister, panicked and starts to cry dropping to her knees before hearing that sinister laugh.

"HAHAHAHAHA" the monsters laughed ripping the knife out of Gramp's stomach, my vision turned red and I pushed them away, the bracelet begins to glow again before I grab on and rip its arm off and stab it with its own arm and kick it into another [Sticks] but it wasn't enough to put it down. Explorers had now come out and finished the fight.

A strong gust seemed to blow strongly in the faces of the siblings as they look up to see a lone swordsman the bodies of 2 of the [Sticks] turned into black dust as the faint glow of the bracelet made the dust turn into a spiral and get absorbed into the bracelet while the swordsman picked up something that looked like a head.

-3 YEARS LATER-

We came to see our father and recalled the memories of inheriting our parents' weapons. I looked down at the grave and read the name of the gravestone and cried while leaving flowers and leaving.

"Come on sis...Let's go out again." I said looking at her a little depressed and walked away from the grave and then in the direction of the house they lived in to change into their exploration gear.

"Alright Brother.." I looked at her, she looked emotionless but her hand grabbed mine and squeezed mine as if she were gripping her weapon

"Will we ever be able to stop...you know, your curse?"

"Mhm, we can...maybe more..." He looked at the [Cursed Braclet] that was attached to his skin as it faintly glowed. "Mom and Dad said so in their [Studies of the Broken World]"

"You mean that Goddess character who offers you reincarnation should you pass her three trials?"

"Mhm, It's real, it has to be"

"Alright if you say so..." They opened the front door of their house and entered. "get your weapons, we need to go out "

"Alright..." I said putting my gear on. My gear consisted of a makeshift stealth suit with fabric woven by me, Lucy, and the town tailor who taught us how to make clothes, Made from both thin and thick cloth on the inside and outside that regulated the temperature of the clothes. The suit also came with a golem eye and a mask that makes it easier to resist toxic gasses... And Magical attacks and lastly, Mother's Push-Dagger bracers. The memories of when I was a child filled my head as I put them all, I felt like my mother was standing behind me again...with her hand on my shoulder before getting snapped out of my trance.

"Hello, earth to Luck!" my sister pokes me with the butt of her spear.

Agh! I'm here I'm here! I told her as we voyaged through into then We walked to the bridge over the waterfall as sis opened Grandpa's book and looked at another location known as .

"It says here that monsters will come here when they are newly formed of [Black Sand], Stay on Guard." She started putting the book away before drawing the spear.

"SHOWROOM..." The Bracelet glows causing three [Sticks] to rush out to the duo from both sides of the bridge.

"Tsk!" I clicked my tongue and pushed the two [Sticks] down the bride as I let my sister take down the one she was facing.

"Take yours down quickly!" She instructed me, being bossy as always.

"I got it!" I drew the blades from both gauntlets and started punching one [Sticks] while trying to block the other one.

"Circulate your Ki through your weapon!" She yelled at me as the tip of her spear showed the power of lightning. "Lucient Blade!" she showed the full power of her skill before stabbing the Ground. "Static Overload!" The blade shocked the ground, burning the [Twigs] to death but I moved to my own objective and steeled myself and charged at the second [Twigs]

"Don't [Blink]..." A purple energy courses through my body and blades as I stab into the head of the [Twigs] before ripping the head off its body as the corpse turned into [Black Sand] again. My sis and I looked at the last [Twigs] who was laughing constantly.

"HAHAHAHA" It turned to me. "HAHAHAHA" It turned to my sister. The cycle repeated for a few minutes before nodding to each other.

"Attack!" Me and my sister attacked at the same time only to be blocked by a monster made from trees

"Last Storm!" My Sister's spear glowed and emitted lightning around her body, then she disappeared and the guard of the wooden monster was broken.

"Quick Gouge!" I followed up her attack with one of my own. I plunged the blade into the [twigs] as it suddenly started to turn green and screech. I kept my blades embedded in its chest. "Sis?"

"On it." She decapitated the monster as it turned into a cloud of black dust and withdrew my daggers back into the bracers.

"Another one bites the dust."

"What point is there in saying that when they don't even have a mouth?"

"Shut up," I tell her sarcastically as we go even deeper, as we passed through deeper into [Silver Forest].

"What's in mom's daggers that could cause bloodthirst monsters to scream like that?"

"Remember when we were smaller and would collect the shiny jewels we always found in the tree?"

"Yeah, why?"

"The silversmith in Gray Garden told me a secret about them."

"A secret? about simple shiny rocks? Is that why you took them out of the trash when I tried to throw them away?"

"Mhm. The secret of the Jewels is that they each possess a rare power."

"Rare power?" She asked

"mhm, mine has the power of rot, I've discovered..." I showed her the eerie green light that shine from the bracers.

"Nice... Maybe if we make enough could you make my weapon like yours?"

"of course-"

"Poof!" An [Abysmal Assassin] ambushed us, I got cut on the stomach but the injury wasn't fatal as I jumped back. I peered into the single eye of the masked figure as a purple light enveloped both of us.

"Get out of Here! Defend yourself, Sis!" I yelled as the purple aura around the [Abysmal Assassin] and I faded. The effect of the simultaneous activation had canceled the skills, we charged at each other. I noticed one thing as the Assassin and I clashed blades, the person behind the mask used the same weapon as I did we backed up, just as I was about to attack, it disappeared as fast it came, my bracelet glowed under my armor with my fist balled up to the point my veins were showing.

"We'll get it next time...so don't worry..."

"Yeah..." I smiled at her and walked away taking the loot drops of what we had slain. 2[Twigs remains] and Arm and a Head as well as a [Lunerite Shard] as we walked back to the nearest village in tandem.
