Chapter 14 - No Deadweight is Allowed

"Please let me join your group!"

Dinda forced the words out of her throat before looking down and away from Pati's gaze, her face reddened due to embarrassment. She gripped the edge of her t-shirt waiting for Pati's answer.

Before Pati can even answer, Dinda has already thought of a way to convince him inside her head.

The guy and the brown-haired girl also got out of the classroom. both of them approach from the back. Pati's eyes landed on the two of them, his eyes doesn't contain any sign of emotion at all. He then takes a couple of steps forward.

Realizing that Pati is approaching her, Dinda looks down trying to figure out what he was about to do. But inside her heart, no matter what she will survive.

Unlike her expectation, Pati walks past her without saying anything.

Dinda widen her eyes stunned in her place, she then looks back and saw Pati grabbing one of the Brawler's corpses before he throws it away. The Brawler's corpse got thrown from the sixth floor before landing on the first floor with a might thudding sound.

Pati looks down and saw some Zombies starting to be attracted to the Brawler's corpse.

Without minding the group of three he then takes the other Brawler's corpse before throwing it off again, 'Alright, that should do it', Pati thought nodding his head. Since the incident where the Walkers turned into a Heavy Walker, it seems Zombies are also attracted to other Zombies' corpses.

They're just like a cockroach that flocks to the carcass of its kind, but the difference in Zombie is that they will get stronger by eating other Zombie's corpses.

Because of that, Pati needs to get rid of the corpses so they won't be attracted to this floor.

Looking at Pati who is ignoring them as if they were not alive in the first place, the guy and the brown-haired girl wanted to say something but were unable to because of fear. Dinda on the other hand has a dark expression, for her Pati is worst than Zombies.

Even Zombies will at least acknowledge their existence, but Pati doesn't put them in his eyes.

Pati notices a random plastic bag on the side, he takes the plastic bag opened it, and puts the harvested brains inside. With that, he then walks past Dinda again intending to throw the Acidic Fatso Zombie's corpse which is still in the janitor's room.

But just as he walked past Dinda, "Do you have no heart? We're all survivors here!"

"You're strong so don't you need to help the weaker ones like us? Are you seriously just going to let us die?", she added with a hint of anger. The situation is pressing on her by the minute, and the feeling of danger that might come any second has peaked her exhaustion.

In this kind of situation, they don't know whether a random Zombie will come at them.

The guy that got his head bitten off by the Heavy Walker is the testament to that, if they're not careful enough then they will be unmistakenly killed by the Zombie. Worst than that, they might even get turned into Zombies.

Hearing what she said, Pati stopped on his track looking to the ceiling with a sigh.

Pati then turns around to look at Dinda, his dagger eyes make her and even the other two gulp harshly. Just like a killer covered in blood, the sight of Pati is still new for the three of them. They're undoubtedly scared of him.

"Are you sure you want to join me?", he asks with a nonchalant tone.

Raising the plastic bag containing the harvested brains, he then added giving Dinda a smirk that looks inhuman, "I like to eat brains, what makes you think I won't eat yours?"

Upon hearing this, the two other behind Dinda steps back in fear.

The guy has heard about Pati that is quite famous in some guy groups at the university, he knows that Pati always eats fried brains. Not one time has anyone seen him eat normal food, he always eats fried brains in the cafeteria or brought some from home.

Now that the world has fallen, there's no guarantee that Pati won't eat human brains.

From how he always harvested the brains of the Zombies he killed, he definitely likes to explore other tastes. Maybe it won't take long before he turns into a full-on cannibal and added human brains to the menu.

But just after Pati said that,

[Congratulations, you have completed the Scarier than Zombie achievement!]

[You have obtained 1,000 Chaos]

[You have unlocked Intimidation passive skill!]

Out of nowhere, the system's message surprises him, 'Wait what happened? There's an achievement feature too, it really just like a game', he thought.

'Is it because I scared them?', Pati glanced at the group of three.

Dinda who this time doesn't avert her gaze elsewhere seeing that Pati is looking straight at her finally replied after expressing her fear, "You're not going to do that. If that is true then the guy that's always with you will not want to be in the same group as you, he would've gone to ours instead"

"Please, I won't be a deadweight. I'm in the nursing major, I can help if you're wounded", she added making Pati's eyes lit up, he can't lie that having someone like her will be beneficial.

Even though he hasn't got that many injuries aside from his bruised arms, in the future he will definitely sustain more injuries than this. Having her on his team will be a great addition, but the problem is that if he accepted her then the other two will also want to join.

Being with Jeff is already annoying enough, but at least Jeff will keep him sane.

Having a friend to talk to in the dark world such as this is a must no matter how much Pati wanted to deny it, which is why he accepted Jeff rather easily. But more people in his group is not ideal to get stronger, the loot will be shared too much.

Pati is very reluctant to accept them as his team, but he thought of an idea.

'If you want to survive then you just need to make do with my rules', he thought before he nodded to himself and looks back at Dinda and the others.

After deciding what to do, Pati then said, "Anyone of you can join..."

"But I don't want to shelter a burden that can't do anything, so anyone that can bring me two Walkers brains will be accepted. For Dinda, you just need to bring me one and I'll let you join my team", he added.

Hearing this, all of their eyes lit up finding a newfound hope.

They all saw how powerful Pati is as he can even fight the Brawlers like that without sustaining any major injuries, so having the hope that they can join his group is settling. All they need to do is to take out two Walkers except for Dinda who only needs to kill one Walker.

Dinda's privilege makes the other two envy her but they can't do anything about it.

With that, Pati was about to leave but then suddenly.

Bang!

A couple of Walkers poured out of the emergency exit just beside the janitor's room, they busted the door open as they seems to sense the Acidic Fatso's corpse. Even after seeing these Walkers a couple of times, the group of three is still frightened.

Their inhuman growls and lifeless eyes are still scary to look at for them.

When Pati was about to engage and kill these Walkers, he suddenly stop and cease his attention. He glanced back before a grin appear on his face, "Perfect timing, these Walkers are for you guys. Good luck fighting them"

Pati relaxed his tense body before walking toward the janitor's room.

There are exactly three Walkers that came out of the emergency exit, two of them stumbled back which is surprising as they seem to be scared of Pati. But one of them snaps out of its fear before it tries to claw Pati.

It should be because of the new passive skill he unlocked, Intimidation.

While rubbing his chin and inspecting the Walkers that feared him, Pati pushes the incoming Walker without even batting an eye. It got shrugged off to the side easily before Pati walks past them leisurely.

His current strength is not something Walkers can beat, they can't do anything.

Dinda and the others look from the back with wide eyes, they can't believe that Pati has that much strength that the Walkers got pushed away easily. He's wearing a jacket so they can't really see his figure, but he shouldn't be that big.

Compared to Jeff or the guy, Pati is shorter than both of them.

But just as Pati was about to walk away, the guy suddenly called from the back while pointing at the janitor's room, "Wait! Can you help us get something in the janitor's room that can be used as a weapon!"

Hearing this, Pati went inside the janitor's room.

Upon seeing this, the group of three felt relieved knowing that at least Pati will give them something they can use as a weapon. But unlike what they expected, Pati got out of the Janitor's room pulling the Acidic Fatso's corpse.

"There are a couple of knives in the janitor's room, go get them yourself", Pati points inside.

His answer makes the group of three looks at him in disbelief, they don't have any weapon to use against these Walkers. Pati can just take the knives from the janitor's room but there's no fun in that.

Without even glancing back, Pati pulls the Acidic Fatso's corpse before throwing it off the sixth floor again. He then kept walking without a care in the world.

Soon he disappears after taking a left leaving the three of them to try and fend off the Walkers.

The guy and the timid brown-haired girl are stressing themselves thinking of a weapon.

But as they are thinking, Dinda turns around and got back inside the classroom. She then went past them with a folded steel chair in her hands that she took from the classroom. She then looks at the Walkers that are heading toward her slowly and formulates a plan inside her head.

Dinda can feel that her entire body is trembling in fear, the grotesque sight of the Walkers doesn't affect her as much as the two others. She studied nursing so she has her own share of blood and disturbing sights.

Instead of that, what disturbed her is that these Walkers in front of her were once alive human beings but now they're reduced to walking undead.

Even though they're not humans anymore, the thought of killing them is still hard for her.

Although she's hesitant to harm the Walkers herself, she knows that it's the only way to survive in this kind of world so she closes her eyes and takes a deep breath steeling her resolve. She then exhales deeply before her eyes turn cold.

After formulating a plan, Dinda then fixated her eyes on the left Walker.

The two Walkers in the middle and the right are close to each other while the left Walker is separated by a couple of steps, she then grips the folding steel chair tighter before charging forward.

Dinda holds the folding steel chair in front of her before she crashes to the left Walker.

"Kyaa!", she exclaimed falling to the ground, she can feel the ride side of her body numb from colliding with the left Walker that has a solid body. But her effort doesn't go in vain as the left Walker also falls down.

Before the other Walkers can even reach her, she forces herself to stand up.

Deflecting the Walker's hands that are trying to reach her, Dinda uses the gap she created and ran toward the janitor's room. Her plan is not perfect but it works wonderfully, she manages to reach the janitor's room because of that.

While the two others were stunned upon seeing Dinda managing by herself, the will to survive is burning inside of her and she uses it to the fullest extent.

Even by watching this, the other two feel they also need to survive.

Copying exactly what Dinda did, the two takes a folding steel chair each before charging at the Walkers trying to went after Dinda who already got into the janitor's room.

Unknown to them, Pati is watching this happening.

Although he made them think that he left them, Pati didn't really leave them and paid attention from the side, especially Dinda. A smile crept on his face seeing what Dinda did, 'I can't afford to lose somebody like her, but I didn't expect she did that...'

'Turns out she's really going to be useful after all'
