Chereads / Brain Eater in the Apocalypse / Chapter 11 - Traumatized Group

Chapter 11 - Traumatized Group

While looking at the dumb expression on Jeff's face, Pati clicks his tongue in annoyance thinking that somehow Jeff has 5000 Chaos to start the apocalypse while he only got 400.

There's a massive difference between their starting part, and it irritates him.

'It's bullshit, all of this is bullshits', Pati cursed inside his head before putting the two brains he harvested from Tanky and the Heavy Walker on the side, he then turns around and looks at a Walker's head that has been decapitated.

Jeff has 37 points in strength, almost reaching him who is currently staying at 46 points.

With that kind of strength, triple the average strength an adult would have. Jeff defeated these Walkers easily with the machete, probably with one swing judging from the polished cut.

Squatting beside the Walker's head, Pati then cracked it open and takes out its brain.

After taking out the gooey brain that is still fresh and wetter than normal, Pati brings it closer to his mouth trying to check what he speculates is true, 'I'm full but it's necessary, here goes nothing'

Rubbing his full stomach with his other hand, Pati then takes a huge bite of the brain.

Jeff who is watching this from the side looks away, he already saw Pati eat brains a couple of times but the scene is always unsettling. If not for the apocalypse, he might just freak out like he did the first time he met with Pati.

From just three or four bites, the brain vanished from Pati's hand.

Pati bites as much as he can but the swallowing part is the difficult part, it's not that the taste is horrible but he's already full. Only half a day has passed since the start of the apocalypse, and he has already eaten so many brains in that small time span.

If it were him before the apocalypse, he probably wouldn't be able to eat that much.

Gulp!

After pushing all of the meaty brains down to his stomach, Pati licks the brain juices around his mouth before a smile appeared on his face. He smiles because a system's message appears in front of his vision.

[Sucessfully Gained a level 4 Walker Chaos]

[You have obtained 400 Chaos]

Just like what he speculates, the Brain Eater class he possesses doesn't require him to defeat any Zombies to work. It's safe to assume that Jeff or the other survivors need to kill Zombies to gain Chaos and level up, but all Pati needs to do is eat brains.

It doesn't matter who killed the Zombies, as long as he eats the brain then he'll get the Chaos.

This Walker was killed by Jeff so in that sense the Chaos should belong to Jeff, but he can still absorb the Chaos which proves his speculation is true.

But just when he was about to celebrate,

"What the- Why did I lose 400 Chaos? That's bullshit, this is a scam!", Jeff grumbled on the back.

Hearing this, Pati looks back in surprise seeing Jeff cursing the system.

'Yeah... I also thought it was too good to be true', Pati thought with a wry smile, turns out every time he eats the brains of those who he didn't defeat then he will be stealing Chaos from the one that kills it.

Just like he did to Jeff right now, and this makes Pati sigh.

But then Pati notices Jeff carrying a box that should be from the storage room, "What's inside the box? Is it food or something?"

"No, it's water bottles and I also put some useful things from the other two boxes"

"All we need for the time being is food and we're good", Jeff replied.

Nodding his head and standing back up intending to head back to the university, Pati glanced at the sight where corpses already filled the entire place. It should upset his stomach or the decayed scent should make him vomit, but Pati seems to be fine.

Pati finds it weird though since he didn't believe that he's this strong, it's too convenient.

But then he suddenly remembered the skill section of the status window, he has a passive skill called Zombie Mind and its maxed level. Pati opens his status window before intending to tap on the Zombie Mind passive skill, but no matter how much he taps on it there's no system message that appears describing the skill.

This is weird since his Hammer Fist Skill has a description, but this one is not.

While he's trying to find out about the Zombie Mind passive skill, Pati suddenly heard many growls of Zombies that snap him out of his head realizing that they're still outside.

Jeff and Pati looks in a direction with wide eyes when they heard a screeching sound.

It's not the regular inhuman growls that come from Walkers or even Heavy Walkers, this one has deafening growls and pretty much heading their way judging by the sound that is getting closer by the second.

Upon realizing this, Jeff then turns to Pati, "I think it's going this way"

"There are two high-level Zombies' corpses here, it might be attracted because of that. Let's hurry back inside", Pati replied before taking the two brains he puts on the side and running back inside the university.

With hurried steps, both of them went back to the university.

But just after they enter the university, a figure jumped to the roof of the university's back entrance protruding its abnormally long and sticky tongue. This Zombie's jaw is hanging low, its mouth is opened so wide that it can probably put a basketball in its mouth.

After looking around with unnatural movement, its green eyes then landed on the Heavy Walker's corpse before it leaped down and started devouring it.

Meanwhile,

A girl with blonde hair rushes into a classroom with a sense of panic on her face, two other people followed after her before the girl with short brown hair that came last closed the door. Upon closing the door, the girl with brown hair slides down on the door in horror.

No one talked even after they got into the safety of the classroom, a very tense silence.

The only guy amongst the tree holds a chair with his trembling hands while remembering back the scene that happened just a moment ago, his friend's head got bitten off by the Heavy Walker!

For college students with no experience even nearing this, they all were horrified.

With heavy breaths realizing that his friend is dead, the guy looks down to the floor with wide eyes. He then touches his face before his eyes widen, even more, the blood of his friend splattered on his face.

Just like reminding the guy of what happened a moment ago, it's depressing.

Slowly the guy raises his gaze and saw the girl with brown hair sobbing just beside the door while the other girl is pacing around the room biting her finger, witnessing such a scene right in front of their eyes traumatized them.

"I'm going to join that psychopath, I don't care!", the blonde girl declared.

Hearing this, both the guy and the brown-haired girl looks at her in surprise, "I- I don't think that's a good idea, Dinda... he- he's scary...", the brown-haired girl replied meekly, her voice still trembling because of fear.

"I also think that's a good idea, but you know that his impression of you both is bad. And even if we want to join him, it's very dangerous outside. What makes you think we will not meet a Zombie heading to the class he's in?", the guy replied trying to act calm but he can't hide his trembling and pale hands.

While they were heading to the classroom, they saw a couple of Walkers along the way.

From the unbelievable encounter with the Walkers they wanted to kill that somehow turned into a Heavy Walker, their fear to go out of the classroom is overwhelming. Even the thought of going out makes their hearts drum faster.

Dinda sits on the edge of the lecturer's table before she grips the edge of the table with both hands, "Let's wait for the right moment to go to classroom 911... we can't survive like this"

Unknown to them, Pati and Jeff are on their floor heading to the small cafeteria.

"Alright, I'm going to get some snacks. Be right back", Jeff said handing over the box containing the water bottles before heading to the small cafeteria consisting of only a counter displaying all kinds of snacks.

While carrying the box, Pati then decided to sit on a steel bench beside him.

Since Jeff is currently getting himself some snacks, Pati decided to check on the parchment he got from Tanky's dropped items. The parchment is just like the previous one containing weird writings.

Using his thought to learn the skill, a system message then appears.

[Do you want to learn Middle first circle skill, Leap?]

[Yes or No]

'Middle first circle? The Hammer Fist is an upper first circle so this one should be weaker, but if the skill is what Tanky used earlier then it'll be very useful', Pati thought before he taps on the yes button and learned the Leap skill.

Leap skill costs him 400 Chaos which is all he had right now, but after eating the bunch of brains he collected in the classroom then his Chaos will soar.

Just like before, the information to use the Leap skill entered his brain.

Right after he learned the Leap skill, Jeff came back with a plastic bag with many snacks inside of it, "I'm finished, there are still some but we can just go back later and take it"

"Alright, let's head back for today", Pati replied as they both went back to the classroom.

Later that night,

Jeff is currently eating chips while looking at Pati jumping around the classroom with a sour expression, he knew that it's a new skill Pati got from killing Tanky.

He's been leaping around the room for more than three minutes now.

The piles of brains that Pati collected have also disappeared. Although slowly, Pati manages to eat all of them including Tanky and the Heavy Walker's brains. He got quite a chunk of Chaos from eating all of those.

[Chaos: 7600]

With the new skill, Leap. Pati is able to dash very fast just like Tanky did before.

It's quite convenient if he wanted to dash to catch a Zombie in surprise, and after doing the Leap skill ten times a system message appears in front of his vision as usual.

[Leap skill mastery has increased to level 2!]

Pati stopped after he finished raising the Leap skill mastery to level two.

One use of the Leap skill cost him 30 Chaos and he lost 300 Chaos after using it ten times, but all of that is worth it because for the sake of raising the Leap skill mastery level. Something this convenient will help in many situations and Pati plans to cultivate this skill.

After finishing his training, Pati then notices Jeff standing by the window.

He then saw Jeff looking out of the window using a binocular that Pati doesn't know where he gets that from. Approaching Jeff from the side, Pati then asks, "Where did you get that binocular from?"

"Got it from the small cafeteria", he replied nonchalantly.

But then his eyes widen before waving his hand signaling for Pati to come closer, "Come and take a look at this", Jeff said while looking in a direction before giving the binoculars to Pati.

"Look at the source of the light", he added pointing at the green light stabbing the sky.

Hearing this, Pati looks at the green light using the binoculars. Through the binoculars, Pati finds that the green light is like energy or some sort that looks as real as it can be. Just like the illumination of decay and death, the sign of the end of the world.

Pati then looks down to the source of the green light before he glanced at Jeff in disbelief.

"Who the fuck is that?", Pati looks back at the binoculars and thought out loud.

There is somekind of a figure at the base of the green light, a black robed figure. It's still quite far despite using the binoculars, but it's definitely not a human. For a human to stand in the middle of the green light like that, it's very unlikely.

What surprises Pati more is not the robed figure, but it's the huge backpack it carries.

Instinctively after looking at the huge backpack the robed figure carries, Pati takes out the black coins in his pocket, 'Is this somekind of currency for that?'
