Pati looks at the black portal with a hint of interest, it's something that is obviously valuable since Mathian decided to change their conditioned main base into the beach that is hardly fortified with anything but destroyed fences and concrete walls.

But with the small information at hand, he can't really come to a conclusion as to what the black portal is for. The only information they had is the man that enters the black portal and walked out stronger than before, he's seen by Draco.
Despite not knowing the purpose of the black portal, Pati wants to own it.
Anything that has a possibility of making him stronger is a valuable thing that he must have, he won't let anyone have a monopoly on a certain thing that can actually help to survive in this apocalypse.
Not that Pati thought that he might die in the apocalypse though.
