As I trampled on the corpses of my friends... It was then I knew. With a huge grin and a crazy-eyed look, I spread my arms wide and gazed up into the sky with a proud look. "Is this what you wanted!? Huh? Yes, God. I've done it…" a small giggle escaped my lips as I turned and crouched, slowly reaching out to grab a limb.
It was then I knew. That no matter what you do in this life, no matter who you trust. You will always end up dying with or without a single soul by your side. It's sad when they don't even remember you but worse when they do only to forget some days or months... Or even weeks later. Man. Man is a bitch. And the Devil… is a serious asshole.
"Nezu, let's get going" Suddenly, I snapped back to my senses. A girl stood in front of me with a straight face. She stared and I returned the stare.
"Yes, you Nezu. Stop staring and move it. You've been grinning as usual in your sleep."
Her statement made me jump up from my chair, I remember now… I was still in class, I'm a second-year student at Fubuki high… And we just finished the 4th period. So now...
"Right, I'll leave you behind then if you're just gonna stand there and gape into oblivion."
"Wait!" Without much thought behind it, I reached my hand out to stop her. She turned her head to look at me with the same straight face, "Let's go Nezu."
She said, this time it was in a low monotone as if she was tired. I simply nodded, "Yes."
My name is Miyuki Nezu. As I mentioned earlier, I'm a second year in a high school named Fubuki High school, an average school really. It's not the greatest school in Japan, but it's exceptional. My best friend… or rather the only friend I've managed to make throughout my life, is Ichiro Ichigo. She's a cold, quiet, calm… yet a heartless bitch, and I'm not afraid to say it to her face. Having jet black long hair, with brown dead eyes, she was beautiful, you know, the kind of girl you'd see in the movies.
Her figure was slim and she had the breast size of a C cup, accompanied by a height of 160cm and a weight of 52 kg. She seemed fit but she loved to eat. A lot if you ask me. And what about me? Oh, I'm just your average guy. Messy short orange hair, with ugly freckles, bangs that cover my eyes, with good reason. I hated my face, and my eye color makes it worse. My left eye is the color Crimson and the other is light Blue. I look right out of a manga, honestly.
I'm not too tall, the average Japanese male height really… Probably 157cm and most likely weigh 50.4kg, I'm all skin and bones though, with poor communication skills and no idea of how to socialize. Which explains why I only have one friend. Sad. Not really. Then again, part of that reason is that I'm always indifferent when socializing with others, I just don't see the reason for it. It's not like I'll see these jerks when I graduate right? Wrong. This Earth is too damn small.
Ichigo kept walking without even turning to see if I was still following her, she's always like that. I can't tell if she trusts me to follow her or if she just does not care. After a while, she turned a corner and began scaling the steps, and I followed like a duckling to its mother. After much climbing, we found ourselves on the top floor aka the rooftop.
"Why are we here?" I said with a half-opened eye expression, I was breathless from all that climbing but at the same time annoyed that she made me come up here. She only kept walking to the end where the fences that guarded us against our sudden death fall were. Squatting to pick something up.
"Bento." She said simply, turning to face me then sitting on the ground. Her legs criss-cross along each other. I forget, she's the quirky silent type. I sighed and walked over to her. Leaning against the fence wall, I stared down with my arms crossed.
"I don't like heights." I muttered under my breath, it was out of frustration of course. I also forgot to bring my bento, so double frustration. "Here." I turned to the voice to see Ichigo handing me another bento box. It looked oddly familiar…
"Your mother said you forgot it."
"Thanks. You didn't have to. How did you know I was hungry?"
"Strange question." With that, she started eating and soon stared off into space. With the bento box in my hand, I slid against the fence wall till my butt hit the ground, softly. "How strange?" I insisted, I was curious to know. Ichigo just shrugged, eating without a care.
"We have 10 minutes left. Hurry and eat." She said bluntly. As soon as I heard her though, I instantly unwarped my bento and began eating. "What the hell, you should have said so!"
"You didn't ask the time."
I huffed and looked at her for a few moments, then turned my attention to my food.
Some time passed and it was soon the end of the day. All the kids from school were leaving and Ichigo and I took the usual quiet path down to our homes. We lived next door to each other so we always walked home together. With my bag over my shoulder and both hands in my pocket, I walked on the sidewalk, next to some cherry blossoms. Ichigo walked right behind me like some kind of bodyguard, her presence at times was immensely overwhelming. And it didn't help that she was taller than me. God, why'd I had to have such a strange person as a friend? Then again, we all are strange.
"Nezu… Watch out!" She yelled, slowly I turned to look at her with a calm expression, which quickly turned into fright once I saw the fear plastered on her face, she seemed to be reaching her hand out to me… but that was the least of my problems, I could see a bright light creeping closer to me, I gazed towards the direction of the light with wincing eyes, with the little vision I had, I could see it was a car. I was in the middle of the road. That was the last thing I saw. It felt like nothing. The impact, the screams. The landing of the fall and then the darkness that engulfed me. Did I really just die?
"Do you believe in God?"
Unexpectedly, I woke up in a room, standing over dead people. I could smell rotten flesh and blood everywhere. Someone just spoke? I quickly turned in the direction of his voice to see a Redhead in a checkered suit staring at me with a huge grin.
