Chapter 3 - Start of a new life (Kordell)

Where am I?

Who am I?

"Wake up, My warrior." A disembodied voice echoed. "An unfair death in the hand of another. So, allow me to save you, Kordell Cook."

I'm Kordell Cook, and I just died from a drunk driver.

The next thing he knows, his body hits the surface of something. He groaned in pain as he lifted himself off the floor. He looked at his surroundings; he was in a big white empty room. "So, this is death? No white pearly gates, not even an inferno waiting for me? " He screamed, and his voice echoed through the room. "There's no God, no Devil, not even a damn Purgatory!" He fell to his knees as he felt despair. "Did anyone tell you that you're dramatic?" A sudden voice spoke behind him.

He fell to his knees as he felt despair. "Did anyone tell you that you're dramatic?" A sudden voice spoke behind him.

He turned around to see A Extremely tall, beautiful woman. Her smooth Bronze skin complimented her long silver hair. Kordell was captivated by her beauty. "What? You haven't seen a goddess before?" She giggled. Kordell snapped out of it. "Wait, so there is a god?" He asked. "There are multiple gods since You're not in your world anymore. "She stated. Kordell anticipates what will happen next. As The goddess explained the situation to him, joy-filled his body. "Your death was unfair, so I decided to give you a chance to live your new life however you want in a world full of fantasy." She continued and gave him a status window. "But, first things first. What ability would you like?"

Kordell clenched his fist as he knew what exact ability he would use. He looked up at the Goddess and Proudly Yelled. "I would like the power of Endless Development." The goddess looked at him with a smile on her face and nodded. In a flash, The status window changed and gave him the ability. "Now, You will be Reincarnated somewhere that will challenge your limits, succeed and you will get an item that'll help you." The goddess told him before snapping her fingers, making Kordell fall into the void again. "W-Wait, I still have questions!" He shouted. "Your questions will get answered, Now go and Enjoy your new life." The goddess reassured before everything turned black.

"Xena!" Kordell gasped as he quickly sat up. He frantically looked around. He noticed he was in a dark, moist cave with an already lit lantern beside him. 'How did I end up here?' He questioned. With his brown eyes, he looked at his reflection in a puddle in front of him. His face and body were caked in dirt, and he was dressed only in a brown cloak that hid his golden brown skin.

He picked up the lantern while trying to stand up but struggled. His body somehow doesn't have enough energy. He slowly roamed the cave for what felt like hours until he found a light at the end of the cave. He shakingly ran towards the light.

Once he got out, the sun shone brightly, casting a warm glow over everything. The sky was a deep blue as it peered through the tree leaves. He walked in one direction, hoping that someone would help him.

He became tired after hours of dragging his feet through the dirt. He wanted to give up and rest, but his determination kept him moving. 'Xena, Give me your strength as you guide me through this forest.' He prayed.

"Dark Elf!" A woman said. Kordell turns toward the voice and sees a muscular woman carrying a dead bear. Kordell noticed the red skin and small horns they had. The women's eyes narrowed as they looked at Kordell. "Is it a child?" She inquired. She dropped the bear and began approaching him.

The menacing aura surrounding the athletic women made him step back and fall backward. " You are no Dark elf! You are a human Child!" She picked him up by the back of his cloak like a ragdoll. "Human child, What are you doing here?" She questioned. "I randomly woke up in a cave. Then I started wandering around the woods ." Kordell quickly told. "Do you have any family?" She asked.

Kordell shook his head then the woman dropped him to the ground. "Weak human child, I'll take you in and teach you the value of one of Xena's proudest races, The Orcs!" She proudly declared as she banged on her chest. "So praise me and think of me as your master from now on!" Kordell looked up at the red orc and accepted his situation. "Call me, Urzul." She introduced. "I'm Kordell. Nice to meet you, Urzul." He greets back. "We need to head home now." She grabbed the child by the cloak and put him on her broad shoulders. Kordell watched as Urzul grabbed the dead bear and effortlessly threw it over her other shoulder. "Can't forget about food." she said before walking home."

They arrived at her house after the sun had set. Urzul lived alone in a small cottage deep in the woods. Kordell jumped off Urzul's shoulder as she threw the bear carcass to the ground. "Get fire going." She told him before entering the cottage. Kordell walked around the house, gathering sticks and stray bark. When he'd had enough, he threw them in the fireplace.

He then grabbed two rocks and smacked them together until a fire started. Urzul appeared outside, wielding a massive blade. She approached the bear corpse and began skinning it. Kordell cringed as he watched the orc chop at the skin, toss it aside, and then rip out the guts. "This is the messiest part, but worth the meal." She stated. Her face stained with bear blood. Once she finished, she hung the Bear meat over the fire, leaving it to cook. Kordell sat nearby the fire, Staring at the flames.

Urzul noticed that the bark and sticks were fueling the fire. Her brow furrowed before she turned to face Kordell. "Why use sticks instead of magic, small child?" She inquired. The child looked up at her, a puzzled expression on his face. "Magic? What do you mean?" They both looked at each other, perplexed. 'A human that no use magic? Where did small child even come from?' Nothing could sound more ridiculous to the orc. "Is that bad?" He innocently turned his head to the side. "No, but it becomes dangerous when in battle." She informed him. "Then can you teach me some?" He had a hint of excitement in his voice.

Unfortunately, Orcs are not known for their magic or intelligence. They have little to no magical power and must rely on their monstrous strength to survive. Urzul shook her head. "I Can't help magic but can help strength." She flexed her arm, Showing off her huge muscles. "Can teach on how to survive like true orc."

She presented. "I don't want to be a burden to you, Urzul. So please teach me how to survive." He requested. "Tell me name, small child." Urzul asked, Never learning the child's name ever since they met. "I'm Kordell. Please take good care of me." He introduced. "Very well, Now let's eat. The food's going to get burned." She said before successfully stopping the fire with her bare hands. Kordell looked in amazement. Obviously, he had a lot to learn in his new life.
