Liam was still fantasizing his hatred for the prime minister's children when Sara entered this time with one of the men that accompanied them on the carriage, one of the palace guards.
Surely, Sara has explained what he is here to do so she just poured a glass of osmanthus brew in a cup, gave it to the guard who drank it without hesitation.
The guard didn't care about the fact that he was used to testing if the drink contained poison, this is their own chance to have a taste of expensive drinks like osmanthus brew.
The guard waited a few minutes and after his well being was confirmed, he was dismissed.
Finally, Liam has his chance to taste the zi called newly refined taste of the osmanthus brew. His sense of smell has been suppressed for a long time and when he poured the drink in his mouth, he felt great satisfaction.
A satisfaction that he can only express with a smile.
Not long after, the waiter brought food, Liam grabbed some stir fried meat slices with lettuce and started eating. He asi frank a mouthful of osmanthus brew, drinking it as if it were a normal beverage. The scent and sweet floral fragrance mixed up in it made it taste like fruit juice.
'Food and clothing fit for Royalty, without any lack or want, and I've even got a pretty servant girl to warm up my bed, this lifestyle is way too descent' Sometimes, Liam would think of living the rest of his life this way, the pursuit of his previous life was to eat, drink, and do some technical works anyway.
He ate another mouthful of dishes and drank another mouthful of wine. Then, he opened his mouth so Sara could put in a salted ice prawn she just shelled.
Those ice prawns were the local speciality of this snowy northern city. Just a casual scoop in a thick ice hole would draw up a large amount of translucent prawns .
They were the length of a normal prawn but were a fresh delicacy. The near melted instantly in one's mouth serving up an indescribable gastronomic pleasure.
Of course it was extremely pricy
It was already considered extravagant for an average person to eat it once a month. Who could enjoy it during every meal like him?
He had already arrived in this ancient English world for few hours now yet according to his observation, this world was riddled with many strange happenings
Initially, he thought he had gone back to the ancient times but now he thought otherwise
The customs, the habits, weather, and the climate here were all vastly different from those ancient worlds he'd seen in movies. Whatever it is, he is in it
As he was thinking of what kind of world this world is, one if the drunk men suddenly shouted
Liam looked at them again, they were muscular and were dressed on short robes. Their dressing already depict their alien identity, they seemed to come from another part of this world.
Liam didn't want to mind them but their next action was like a movie, the one that wasn't drunk started the conversation
"What are you guys doing, does this place look like one of those lousy bars you went to in Starland?"
This guy didn't hide his irritation and upsetness from his brothers
"What is it brother? The days are getting worse, who knows who might just get killed before tomorrow's dawn"
The one who shouted earlier said in a drunken manner. Of course no one would take his words seriously especially now that his eyes are now moving left and right on their own
"What do you mean?" The elder brother eyed his brothers, he was getting embarrassed but he continued talking to his drunk brothers. Afterall, they have been away from Kinland for few years and only came back because they told their father that there is danger in Starland
The second drunk guy sat up trying to jeer himself back to his senses and said
"Brother, is Starland not a better place than Kinland? We left the that god forsaken kingdom because of the constant death of people that keeps happening almost everyday"
The elder brother sighed and replied strictly "That is the same thing you told father, tell me what really happened cause if your excuse is not worth you coming back home, I'll convince father to send you back. The way you are embarrassing the family's name can't be accepted "
Liam is nuw getting interested in the conversation of the brothers. He put all his attention in listening to them but he pretended like he his focus on the music
The two brothers showed their discomfort on the idea of them going back and one of them replied their elder brother
"We don't really know what happened but we've seen a whole village of people get killed overnight. Some of those who survived claimed that they saw some humans turn into wolves, some turn into bats, they were hunting all the villagers and killing all of them."
"He is right, brother, even those that survived were greatly hurt. The people said they saw one man with very long teeth and sharp fingers talk to them"
At first, Liam was listening for fun, he never expect the brother's story to turn superstitious
He in his present life is the youngest prince of the royal family of Kinland. Kinland, compared to other Kingdoms, is not a very big Kingdom but it is known for its ability to gather information faster than other kingdoms. There is no way something like this will happen and he is yet to know.
The 'he' in that sentence is the real owner of this body. In other words, he did not believe the brothers.
Searching through the memories of this body, he could remember that he had heard some rumors about the existence of some mysterious beings that they call demons but those were just rumors. Those rumors had it that these demons have long teeths and sharp nails but since there is no death count caused by these demons, it remained a rumor.
"One of the dying ones that I saw in the village claims that it is the demons that are hunting them," one of the brothers said. They are talking fluently this time and they don't look like they are under the influence of alcohol.
Liam is still wondering how a common conversation brought them back to their senses
"He also said that the demon left them a message, for the other part of the world" the other brother confirmed what his brother said
The older brother seems to be surprised with his brother's story. Somehow he believed them and Liam too is starting to change his thoughts about the story since it has 'the demons' in it.
"Are you sure you are not making up this story? All of this doesn't sound real" the older brother ask in disbelief
Liam finds the story funny too. It might just be a cunning plan made up by the brothers so they can be allowed to stay in Kinland.
Having eaten and drank something, he made a servant bring over the singing lady's song list and casually looked over it.
Liam love looked at the list of all the songs that have been sung the the ones that will be, he wished the current sing will be changed quickly, he doesn't really like the tone. Since he no longer has interest in the brothers' conversation, he is trying hard to put his attention on the music.
During the brothers' conversation, he has been able to know which of the drunk brothers is older but now, he just wants to have a peaceful enjoyable day and go home.
But the brothers won't stop!
The second brother among the drunks hit the table suddenly and say out loud "you think we are trying to buy our way into Kinland, come on brother, you know we are older than those childish habits"
"In fact brother, one of the demons died and I saw his corpse, no..no, his bones." The youngest brother tried to convince their older brother
"If it's bone that you saw, how do you know it's of the demons"
The older brother asked not wanting to believe his brothers
"The villagers that survived said that the demons do born immediately after death"
"No problem, I believe your story. So what is the message that the demon left for the world?"
"Uhmm, he said we should beware of the Doomsday, he said someday, what happened to that village will happen to many other kingdoms"
The older brother burst into laughter on hearing what his younger brother said. Even Liam and some other people that are present all giggled, no one will believe such a fantasy story.
The drunk brothers seemed to be upset that people did not believe them
"Do you think we will lie to you with such a dangerous matter? I saw a necklace on the demon's bone and I took it. ``One of the drunk brothers said it loud enough for everyone in the room to hear and then whispered " I was planning to keep it to myself before" and he brought out the necklace.
The necklace was mysterious, it has some kind of design that represents evil. There is a picture of a pentagram drawn with red color. The red color is like blood and somehow, it is turning green and the smell of blood is emanating from it.
When the older brother saw the necklace, his face turned pale, the smell of blood from the necklace was gruesome.
Liam was able catch a good view of the picture in the necklace, he recognized the picture on sight, he have seen it in some fantasy novels and movies that he had read and watched, it is the picture of 'the Grand Demonic Pentagram'
