The mysterious man went to her bed.
"Where is my brother? What have you done to him?" Bella asked.
"I sent him away darling. We have rules and the rules state that another vampire that is not from here cannot live here. We monitor each vampire that enters this city and your brother was stubborn. Always wanting to have his way when he was just a new vampire," He laughed and brought a man.
Bella was confused.
"My brother is a vampire? It cannot be, in fact, Vampires are not real, they have never been real," She shook with fear.
The man laughed at her.
"What are you? A piece of fiction? I have turned you into one. At least that way you and your brother can maybe reunite one day. I am always benevolent," He smiled. "By the way, I am Descent," He introduced himself and kissed her on her cheek.
She turned her face away.
"I need to go to my brother and I cannot have you separate me from him. We may not be the best and we may quarrel a lot but I love him so much. I do not want to be with him, he is the only family I have left," She cried.
"And do I look like someone who cares?" He asked her.
Descent went to the human boy who was older than her by a year or more. The memory hit her, she knew the boy, her brother's ex-girlfriend's younger brother. He stared into her eyes and did something that made him lose his fear.
"Make sure she feeds, if she doesn't want to feed willingly, offer yourself to her until you die," He smiled and left.
Jonathan stood and watched her.
"Well, you should do better than disrespect him. He leads us all and if you do not drink, everyone you know will be offered to you and then he will persuade you to feed from them," She said.
She stood there crying, all she could think of was blood. She could not suppress it, she went to him slowly. He was scared but she had to save him.
She walked nearer to the light and it burnt her again but she went back to the bed quickly and dragged him with her.
She bit his wrist carefully and the taste of blood hit her. It was surprisingly sweet.
She could not stop herself from taking more. She bit his neck and could not stop.
"Oh, my God. I have killed him," She cried and stepped away from the body.
"There is no need to feel pity, darling. He is not dead," A woman came inside.
Bella moved away.
"Who are you? How come all of you walk near the sunlight apart from me?" She asked her.
"Hello little girl, I am Monica," She introduced herself to Bella.
Monica threw a tissue to her to clean up herself while other men came to carry the body outside.
"I killed him, I was not meant to kill him," She replied.
Monica smiled.
"Do not worry, you will learn to control yourself soon," She smiled.
"Your smile is creepy," She told her.
Monica stopped walking and went to cover the curtains.
"I wonder why he fancies you. I mean I have spent the last fifty years trying to make him attracted to me and you just came along and he likes you," She looked at her and parted her hair to the side.
"How old are you? If you are saying you spent the last fifty years. I mean you look like you are twenty," She asked her.
"I was born in 1931, but I was turned in 1951. Back then my parents died in the war and I was left to fend for myself. I wandered until I met Descent in 51' where he turned me into one of them," She smiled.
"And you lived happily ever after?" She asked her.
Monica laughed.
"I lived a beautiful life, having to witness humankind change from what it was to what it is now. At least back then there was nothing like staying within your territories. Now the only way for us to travel is for your sire to be at peace with other territories and that rarely ever happens," She said.
"So I am going to be stuck in this body for eternity?" She asked.
"Apparently. Now dress, Descent wants you to meet with the others now. If you please him, he will give you something to make sure you can walk in daylight," She smiled.
Bella collapsed on her bed, she was annoyed with herself. She had not been a good sister to Gerald and even after he was turned he still risked his life to protect her.
She took the clothes that were given to her.
"What is this?" She asked herself. There was no way she could be that.
The clothes were short, short enough to be underwear instead.
"I cannot wear this," She shook her head and lay on the bed.
She was sure her friend would be looking for her, they should have reported to the police that she was missing.
'Wait' she remembered, she had no friends.
Few memories came into her mind, how one day she had snuck out from school and come back early. She entered her brother's room to find a mini fridge stocked with blood.
She even saw him feeding on one. He dropped it quickly when he saw her and rushed to her.
"I am sorry that I have to do this," He looked into her eyes.
"Do what?" She remembered herself vaguely.
"You never saw this, and came home to ease yourself because the toilets in school are very dirty," He told her.
Bella laughed, it was typical Gerald. He must always add humor even when he was compelling a person.
"Are you ready?" Monica came in, she was not dressed. Instead, she was crying.
She sat beside her.
"Stop being a baby, it is not nice to let him wait," She told him.
She finally put the dress on after a lot of persuasions.
She went outside the entire place was dark.
"How are you?" He came beside her.
"I am fine, I suppose. Apart from the fact that I keep walking into the sunlight," She told him.
Descent looked at her.
"You should know that everyone has to earn my trust before I give you protection from the sun. I mean I do not want you to go around feeding from humans without having self-control. We have lived here amongst humans and I do not want them to be alarmed." He told her.
"You just made me kill a person. What difference does it make?" She asked him.
Descent laughed and turned away from her.
"To the new addition," He raised his glass for a toast and everyone joined in too.

.
.
Present Day.
"I beg your pardon," Her heart slammed against her ribs.
She was here to work and not to engage in banter with the most popular doctor in the room.
"I said…" Jeremy paused.
"I heard what you said but I am not sure I understand what you mean," She told him.
Jeremy looked at her.
"Paediatrics takes patience,"
Anger showed on her face, she was polite by letting him enter the elevator first due to hospital etiquette, but he was being rude. If she had a chance she was going to rip off his throat there without care for the people who were watching. Then she'd compel all of them to believe Jeremy never existed.
She smiled.
"And what makes you think I am impatient?" She demanded forgetting who he was and the position he held at the hospital.
"You can hardly wait to get out of the hospital. Deny that you wanted to punch the ground-floor button if you can."
Yes, she wanted to go home, she had not signed up for this. She was exhausted and had been working for sixteen straight hours without having a sip of blood. She could kill anyone if her thirst continued.
She struggled to keep the lid of her temper on.
"Yes, but…" She stammered and the elevator door opened.
"I will see you later, Harden," He replied and left.
