Chapter 3 - Nosferatu-Part 1

It was a dark room with only some rays of light escaping from the holes of the tattered curtain covering the window. He could see pieces of furniture thrown and broken everywhere he looked. The ground was riddled with pieces of wood. And in the corner lay what was the most terrifying.

It was a corpse of a grown man with a fear-stricken expression painting his face. His body was so thin you'd think that he died from a famine that lasted for a decade. His mouth was open as saliva spread near his chin. His eyes were lifelessly staring in one direction as if they were staring into a deep abyss.

Slowly, did Frost walk towards the corpse of the man and gently touched its face.

As soon as Frost's finger touched its horrified face, its body slowly disintegrated into a pile of black ashes. And withered from the point where Frost touched, the ashes flew away like dust being blown by the smooth winds. Slowly nothing was left.

After the last bit of ash flew away, Frost searched the remains of the rundown house and found remains of some women's clothes.

He searched through a couple of houses, but all he found were corpses of men with the same fear-stricken faces laying around in all of the houses.

He searched through the entire village and all he found was the same scene being repeated over and over again. Dead corpses, horrified faces, and bodies that will turn into ashes with the slightest touch.

He could see sheep, dogs, and different livestock hiding in sheds and a couple of houses.

He saw a trail of blood leading to the forest at the end of the village. He settled in one of the rundown houses and started to sort his thoughts while eating some mutton from a sheep that he slew and cooked.

"Sigh." He sighed.

"Shit, So, not only did I get my ass handed to me by an army of some fucking ghouls. Now I have to deal with this shitty vampire outbreak? Great, just great."

At first, he thought that it was done by a lesser vampire, but lesser Vampires usually kill only one or two people at a time. Not massacre a whole village.

And higher vampires don't usually bother themselves with mass murdering people, as it did not suit their twisted tastes. After all, they do not like unwanted attention.

He was sure if one was involved then fighting them means putting his life on the line.

Frost needed more information, so he decided to leave the village and follow the tracks of blood leading to the forest.

Before leaving, he decided to burn down the houses of the village and free the cattle. After all, an abandoned village like this will only attract some unwanted monsters.

He mounted his horse Elwood and while leaving the village, he spread his scarred and callous hands and chanted 'Flamme'.

Soon enough, a ball of bright red Flame started to form in front of his palm and he moved his hand in the direction of the houses.

The flames released from his hand and flew towards the house and started eating the empty and rundown house.

He repeated the incantations a few times and all the huts started to burn and fall through the flames. The embers of flame fluttered towards the sky as if it was dancing to the moon that was illuminating the sky with brilliant light it was a beautiful sight yet forlorn, thought Frost.

After the fire ate itself away, Frost immediately left the village with Elwood and started tracking down the trail of blood that the monster had left behind.

He traveled through the thick forest where the bright moonlight penetrated through the leaves of the huge trees covering the sky. After a couple of hours passed, Frost heard the sound of running waters and immediately went towards the faint sound until it started to be heard clearly.

When approached the waters, he could see cascades falling through the steep rocks. Although Frost noticed a faint smell of blood, he ignored it and removed his armor that was reeking of ghoul blood.

Wanting to cleanse himself after the fight with the ghouls was one of the things he currently wanted to do, after all, traveling into this thick forest while reeking of ghoul blood would only make him a monster-attracting magnet.

Only after removing his armor, one could see the scars dotted around his body sparkling under the moonlight.

While cleansing himself and the armor of the rotting ghoul blood, Frost suddenly felt a presence behind him. He quickly turned around and gripped his sword. When he finally turned all-round he could see a dark portal forming which radiated dense mana.

Frost saw a person walking out of the portal towards him and he immediately tensed himself.

"Hmm, what do we have here", spoke Frost trying to gauge a reaction from the person.

"You have not changed a single bit in the past 800 years, just like how it has been described in the book", responded a feminine voice.

"Oh, a person with culture."

"Although it surprises me that someone wasted his time writing a book about me."

Said frost.

" I had a deep interest in history and knew you would awaken one day, since then I've been patiently waiting for this day for years," said the woman who was wearing an embroidered purple dress that was stretching from her shoulders to the ground.

After seeing her face closely, Frost noticed that she was quite the beauty herself with an enticing face that would seduce any human on earth.

"You speak of history, woman, have the 'Council of Mages' kept the records of the past intact. You guys are quite the secretive and greedy ones for knowledge", spoke Frost while reminiscing about the mages of the past

"Frost, the last of the Vagrants. Accept my greeting for I am known as Stella from the 'Council of Mages'.", said the woman.

"Stella..., tell me the reason why you searched for me", said Frost in his hoarse voice.

"I believe I have the information you need, if you are searching for an unusual monster, then you must know that people witnessed an 'Aurora' a couple of weeks ago, although it was for a very short period of time", said Stella.

Hearing the word 'Aurora', Frost stopped cleansing himself and stared at the sky with a melancholic expression. Frost's face started frowning after her mention of the word 'Aurora'.

"If a small Aurora was indeed witnessed by the people, then that means that the monster I am searching for is a mutant, if it is a mutant of the vampire then it must be a 'Nosferatu', said Frost with a voice which seemed to carry a tinge of anger.

"Then, I will take my leave, O last of the Vagrant. So, it seems that these lands are going to fall into an age of chaos in the near future, so for the preparation, I will need to leave" said Stella and started walking backward from Frost.

"Bilden Sie in Portal", said the mage while doing a couple of unusual movements with her hands, then a portal formed, and just before leaving through it. She turned her head and said, "Oh, I forgot but I could sense an unusual power from behind the cascades I'd recommend you to check it. I bet you could also smell the scent of blood no matter how faint it is.", said Stella before leaving through the portal.

Frost immediately equipped his armor and went towards the falling water and stretching his hands through it. He could feel that there was a cave behind the cascades.

He immediately went inside and what he saw put a deep frown on his face.
