Keiko Hitoshi was born in China, but her birth was no ordinary one as her parents were still in University when she was conceived. Fortunately, the couple found jobs and often left baby Keiko to their relatives, mostly her father's family, since her mother's family is in Japan, while they earn their keep. But before that, the family of three stayed with Keiko's father side's family house.

The family had already looked down upon the child, being conceived so early and saw Keiko as nothing more than trash on the streets, a stain to their eldest son, Kei Hitoshi. But because of their beloved Kei (Keiko's father), they endured it. They've already endured the fact that Kei had married a woman from the opposing country, Japan.

Note: This does not inflict on reality — this is solely based on fiction.

Keiko's mother was a maiden from an average family in Japan who had sent their daughter to study in China for a better luck in life, only to find out of her marriage after Keiko's birth. Both side of the family disliked the mistakes of the couple and belittled them for it. Except for Kei, they blamed and hated the two girls that pulled him down.

The bullying and negligent of the family member in her father's side became the norm, she herself had thoughts that everybody hated her; that her existence was no less than the mud that pigs rolled over. That the reason her parents left her so often was because they secretly hated her as much as her cousins, aunts, uncles and grandparents.

The poor child had enough of the torment and would often run away to the playground in the middle of the five streets. She would hide and think to herself, burying her head in her arms as she cried. Meanwhile, the kids of the playground (or the entire neighborhood in fact) would either avoid and talk about her behind her back, or push her around and bully her similar to her so-called "relatives".

That's why she's usually hiding inside a bush or climbed up trees where no one can see her. Then one day, she found a friend, the one who did not bully her for her existence. The rumor where even the neighbors had heard of and warned their kids of her existence as bad luck — this rumor had been known since the day she came out of the house. She was only 5, when a boy came to her rescue and became her best friend.

However, the boy had to leave the country and went back to the only remaining relative he has after his parents' death in a freak accident.

Poor Keiko was left alone once again at the age of 8 and for half a year: she stayed inside the house of Hitoshi. Trying to hide from the family that kept hurting her behind her father's back. Fortunately it didn't last long as her parents graduated and found stable jobs.

For five years after then, they left the family house and found a lovely home near the countryside of China. Then, after Keiko's middle school graduation, they planned to move to Japan -- to Yui Tanaka, her mother's home country, Japan.
