Chapter 50 - Milo

Milo had long been on the path of a villain as he was brought up with certain conditions to make him act and think like one.

One of the main causes was that his mother pampered him but she would often compare him to the other children and mention that he had to work much harder since he was the younger child of the family which gave him an inferiority complex.

His belief was built into him that certain people below him should serve him faithfully no matter what he asks of them because that is their role.

Even his sister was on that list of people which were supposed to serve him and if anyone did betray or disappoint him then it was his right to punish and even kill them.

His sister had always been loyal to him and followed his every whim from a young age due to his mother planting bad ideas into his sisters head but once that was noticed by the family head, his sister started to slowly pull away from him and was less obedient.

Cleo was gradually growing to become her own person but she did not yet have the courage to step out of her brothers shadow but when faced with the bad situation which was created by her brothers wish to gain greater glory, she had no choice but to step out.

The boar was a difficult opponent to kill but they all were forced to continue their pursuit because Milo did not wish to let it go.

Catching a larger and more difficult prey would earn him more honour so he was willing to take the risk even if it meant many would be injured or die during the hunt.

If the weak were removed and the numbers of the group were shortened then they would be able to have the strong members remaining while they would have to catch less prey to complete the hunt as a group.

He had grown into someone that was willing to take risks and sacrifice others just to gain a little more vanity.

While he could have allowed his sister to provide further assistance and possibly turn the entire bad situation around, he was still selfish and chose to keep her close by to keep himself guarded and safe while the others were suffering.

When Cleo ignored his orders, his bad feelings towards her that had built up over the years as she was slowly pulling away from him became worse.

The current situation and his personal feelings came together to form a malicious plan which would earn him the glory while he would teach his sister a lesson on what happens when she goes against him.

Too many were injured or had lost consciousness so there were not many witnesses and actions were difficult to see properly as he pushed her at an angle which not many far away would notice.

He was then going to stab at the boars vitals as it hit Cleo but the entire plan had been ruined by an unknown cat mink.

While he did feel rage towards the cat mink for stealing the kill, he thought that he could still get the dead boars corpse but he was quickly suppressed by the other party.

His enmity towards the cat Mink had reached a high level in just a short time as Milo was further insulted and looked down on but not only did the cat Mink have the nerve to steal his prey but also his own twin sister.

He looked toward Cleo with a warning glare but she turned away from him and took the hand of the cat Mink.

Cleo was then pulled towards the corpse as they were both preparing to drag it back while Milo was still standing on the spot with his hands tightly gripped.

Several moans came from all around as some of those injured were gradually regaining consciousness or they had enough energy after resting up to allow them to stand once again.

Milo looked around and then ordered. "Everyone surround those two and beat them down. They dared to steal our prey and she dared to betray the group! They need to be punished!"

His aid climbed up and walked towards Milo but quickly noticed something wrong so he whispered. "Young master, I recognise the emblem on those clothes. That is a family which we cannot afford to mess with, it is said that the young master of the family rarely appears but he is favoured by his family. Those of the other families will not go against him because they fear that their families could suffer. Even if you offer them something big as a reward, they would not take it."

Milo grit his teeth. "So I have to just sit back and watch?"

The aid nodded. "Be patient young master, if you can rise up and grow in power and influence in the future then you may not have to fear such people. For now you are still young, once that cat grows up they may not turn out to be someone great with all the pampering the family treat him with."

Milo nodded and calmed himself. "You are right."

He then turned to look at Cleo. 'While I cannot touch him, I can still get to her later. If I can grow my power and influence enough to match that family then I do not have to fear going against someone like him who relies on his families protection.'

He heavily believed that the cat Mink was heavily relying on their families influence to protect himself and the only reason why the boar was killed was due to the strange spherical object which was thrown.

Milo figured that it was an item that belonged to the family of the cat Mink to help provide extra protection for the cat Mink but how could he guess that it was actually an invention of the cat Mink and that his abilities could not be underestimated. 'For now I will let this go but.. later I will have my revenge.'

He did not see where he had went wrong or where there were major flaws in his way of thinking but instead chose to focus on holding his grudges. 'Pixel too… that annoying half blood rodent will not always be so difficult to deal with. She must have some weakness.'

His aid suggested. "With how everyone is injured, we should take some time to find a safe place to rest and then we can come up with a new plan. With our loss of Cleo and some of those who had suffered greater injuries, I suggest that we target smaller prey and stay away from more difficult ones."

Milo shook his head. "No. I have to perform well if I can show my abilities to the family head. I need a larger prey."

The aid sighed. "Young master, this is not realistic right now. We have already suffered losses, if we continue like this then we will lose many lives and we may not be able to meet your goal. You would have to come back with little or nothing after losing many of your group if you continue down this path.

This would not reflect well on your end result and the family head will not be happy that you let your followers gain such large injuries or die. You know he is always watching and testing everyone to see who would make a qualified leader. We need to lower our goal so we can come back and fill our required amount."

Milo went silent for a while as he was slowly regaining his clarity. "You are right. Lets rest up and then we will go."

His aid had been assigned to him by his mother and they were intelligent enough to see the bigger picture unlike Milo who was often affected by tunnel vision when he was affected by his emotions whether it be from his inferiority complex or his desire to achieve unrealistic goals.

While Cleo and the cat Mink were dealing with the boars corpse, Milo and his group left the area and started to rest up before they went to hunt less dangerous animals.
