Chapter 12 - Inherited Wills and Ways of Life #2

Pixel frowned and she crossed her arms cutely. "How and what is it even supposed to mean?"

Ash shrugged her shoulders and said. "I think it was something like J for Joule but I do not know the meaning behind it and he did not explain much about the meaning or the inheriting of the middle name or wills besides that it had been done since ancient times by those who wished to pass on their way of life to someone even if they were not from the same family or bloodline. The lessons that he did pass onto me was to follow my heart and instincts before taking action or deciding on something which is different from the Meridian families way but there is also another part. It is to accept the decisions that you-teia~ have already made after you have done so and continue to move on without looking back or feeling regret. No matter if the result is good or bad, take the good or the small good results that came from it and focus on that only so that you can avoid feeling bitter or regretful of your past mistakes. Of course this type of way to live can easily be taken the wrong way which can lead to some other interpretations that may cause troublemakers but I just hope that whatever way you choose to live, you can remained unburdened and live happily. In the future you will have to make decisions within the family with the resources, opportunities and power given to you so you will have to choose how you wish to use it and for what purpose you will use it for but you will either have to make them to suit the families requirements or have to develop your own way of acting and thinking that may be different from the family and even me."

Pixel retorted with a cute pout. "Is this what lead you-chu~ to meet my father and remain in this family?"

Ash paused for a moment in shock and then burst into laughter. "Pfft~ ahaha. You-teia~ could say so, back then I was charmed by him but also the conditions that were provided upon marrying which allowed me to live a life with less hardships. I had a couple of other pursuers or options to choose from but I chose your father since I liked him the most and was prepared to share him with others due to his responsibilities. I could never have expected our married life and time together to be cut short suddenly as we all lost contact with him but I still have no regrets because I still have you-teia~, my greatest treasure. I have no complaints on how I am living my life and will continue to be happy with what I have gained from this marriage."

Pixel sighed. "You-kachu~… alright, then I will think about what you have said but what has this got to do with what I had asked."

Ash smiled warmly as she patted her daughters head. "You can choose what subjects you wish to study in your free time so choose what you think is best for yourself whether it helps you to survive within the family or has to do with your own dream that you have in mind or may have in the future. Just like the sword selection, choose according to your own needs without worrying about the thoughts of others. I do not know what you-teia~ wish to do about a study partner but there is another thing that needs to be brought up."

Pixel nodded. "I do not want someone who has been assigned by the family or has come to sign up expecting to receive something in return whether it be a child from a lesser noble family or someone else so I need to think more about it. For the other subjects I will choose soon when I have some idea of what I want to do. What is the other thing?"

Ash pulled her daughter into a hug and placed their cheeks together as she garchu'd her. "Garchu~ my daughter you do not have to worry too much about that right now but I am sure you will be happy with your decision when you-teia~ find the right person and have found a goal of your own. The family handed over one building and some small funds upon me marrying into the family and producing an heir which would be used as a start up fund for you-teia~ just like the other children. Of course they will have more resources from their maternal family but you-teia should just ignore the competition and use it for yourself in what way you see fit. I have two buildings in my possession which one is empty and not bringing in any benefits while the other is a small tavern which had been inherited from my teacher. I hope that my daughter can take her time and decide what to do with them."

Pixel drooled a little before wiping her mouth clean. "Can.. we visit the tavern sometime soon? Do they serve sweet food?"

Ash smiled and answered her in a gentle voice. "Of course, I will take you when you-teia~ are free. We do not have that many deserts and treats on our menu since I am not there to make the better quality food but there should be a decent menu as the tavern is still steadily receiving customers."

Ever since Ash had joined the family, she had left the tasks and cooking duties to the lower employees so they had lost their most skilled chef which had made the tavern have to be downgraded over time.

Since she was busy raising her child and was more restricted by the noble family around herself, she rarely visited her old friends and colleagues so she was excited to go with her daughter.

Although she did not regret her decision, she still did miss those past relationships that had became distant over the years.

Meanwhile, Pixel was thinking over what she wished to turn the other building into and what kind of subjects she wished to learn but then she thought back to her previous life and the many things she had seen which had given her a little more inspiration and excitement.
