It was 8 p.m and Dae Ju was walking on the street. He was thinking about himself. Why he got the position? What will he do with it? He has no interest and he will ruin the company's name if he stay in this position. And the most important thing is he doesn't know anything about it and he has to see Chairman's face every day which he hates most in the world now. He sighed and continued sighing. Suddenly something came into his mind and he starts thinking about the positive side of it. He could know more about the director and he can get more information by staying here. He got happy because of the idea. If he can find out what is the truth behind his accident, he could finish the homework and maybe then he could go back. He came here because destiny wanted to show him that someone is after his life. And he has to find out the truth! He is rich now and he can do anything he wanted to! So it will be easy to get the support of the police. He got another idea and he took a different path. He was happy because he thinks he is a genius. He was walking while jumping on the road.
The road was not dark today. There were lights everywhere. People were decorating the street, their houses and everything because tomorrow is the new year. He saw some children who were warmly dressed because there is snow everywhere. Some people were working on removing the extra snow though they know the road will be covered by snow overnight. Dae Ju was wearing an overcoat but the cold wind was still threatening him to wear something more. Though he was happy he didn't listen to the cold and seems like the cold wind got afraid of him. The children were playing hide and seek and seeing them he remembered about his childhood. How he used to play with his mom. One day while playing, he went into the cupboard and he didn't know but somehow it had been locked and he couldn't come out. He didn't notice at first so he was enjoying it as his mother couldn't catch him. His mom thought he went outside to play with his friends so she also went to the shopping mall.
After two hours, she returned and hear little Dae Ju's crying voice. She followed the voice and noticed it was coming from the cupboard which was kept in the storeroom. She could understand what happened so she immediately unlocked it and save her seven years old kid. That two hour was the scariest moment for Dae Ju. He could hear strange and scary noise but he couldn't see anything. He felt like someone was behind him who wants to kill him so he starts crying out of fear. Since then he is afraid of the dark. Suddenly, he remembered about those children who were playing on the street while suffering from cold. He gave money to the lady. Did she buy them clothes? Could the children spend the new year in warm and new clothes? He was worried about those poor children. They were wise and gentle. Are they even studying? He thought.
"Eh-he! Who doesn't send their kid to school nowadays?" he wanted to console his mind saying that they must be spending a bright time with a bright future. He wanted to see them but it was impossible for now. While thinking these things, half an hour passed by and he reached his destination. The police station was also looking beautiful today. They decorated it well with a Christmas tree. Seeing it he remembered he missed the Christmas this year!
"No way! How could this happen? I forget about Christmas! Why they decorated the Christmas tree so lately? If I saw it before, I should have remembered about it! And why the people didn't celebrate Christmas? I didn't see any people to decorate or celebrating! Why?" Dae Ju was so surprised. Each year he spent Christmas with his family and they must go to church to pray. But this year, he couldn't go to the church as he forgot about it. Actually, this is a Muslim area and people of here don't celebrate Christmas. But they welcome the new year very warmly and Dae Ju was not aware of this. He felt down while thinking about it. However, he went inside and he noticed that the cleaning work was in progress inside. The cops were too busy with their work. He was searching for Mr. Park but he couldn't find him.
"Where is Detective Park?" he asked a guy who was wearing glasses and doing his work on a computer. He has chubby cheeks though he was not fatty at all. Though he was wearing glass, his eyes were big enough. His skin color was not so white but it looks fine on him. He has light curly hair which was combed nicely. He was wearing a black-colored heavy jacket and maybe he wore something else inside the jacket because a white-colored sleeve has been seeing through his jacket's sleeve. The desk was not messy at all which gives him a pro look. He looked at Dae Ju for a while with questionable eyes. Seems like he couldn't hear what Dae Ju asked to him.
"Can you please tell me where is Detective Park?" Dae Ju was smiling while asking. Hearing his question, he looked around but when he couldn't find him, he said,
"He was here a while ago. Maybe he go here and there. Please sit and wait for him." he concentrates on his work again. "Yes, I understand!" Dae Ju took a seat in front of the guy and looked at him. He was working so hard and as Dae Ju respects the detective most, he was impressed by the detective. After a few minutes, Mr. Park came and took his seat. Seems like he was working for the whole day and whole night and that's why his face was looking very exhausted. He didn't notice Dae Ju and Dae Ju also didn't notice him as he was still glaring at the detective who was working with his heart and soul. When he heard Mr. Park's voice, he pulled his head and looked beside him.
"Ah, You came?" he asked.
"Yes, why?" detective Park asked him without noticing Dae Ju. He leaned on the chair and pulled both of his legs on the table. Looks like he came to take some rest and he always takes rest in this position.
"You have a client." the detective said to him and pointed at Dae Ju.
"What?" he sits down and looked at Dae Ju.
"Ah! Rumi-sshi! Why are you here again?" asked Mr. Park and looked at him.
"I wanted to give you some information so I came." seems like he has some unfinished words.
"About what?" asked Mr. Park and closed his eyes as he was too tired.
"I have been promoted to one of the highest ranks in the company and I think I can stay always beside the chairman. So, if you accompany me, I can keep my eyes on him and give you all the information you need from me. What do you say?" he was expecting a compliment from the director. But he was a little upset when the detective didn't compliment him.
"What do you want from me? How can I assist you?" asked the detective by closing his eyes. He went back to his previous position and keep listening to Dae Ju and keep asking him questions.
"If you tell me which should I follow and which not and give me some technological help, maybe it would be easier for me and you too," said Dae Ju with a smile that nobody sees.
"Then, you wanna be a spy?" the detective now opened his eyes and looked at him with big eyes.
"Hmm." Dae Ju answered keep shaking his head out of excitement.
"You can't do this." he refused on Dae Ju's mouth and broke his excitement.
"Why?" with a very disappointed face he asked.
"You have to get some training if you want to do that. And we don't give training someone for free. Either you should pay or you have to join our special force." the detective smiled at him. He thought Dae Ju couldn't do that and he will give up on it. And if Dae Ju give up, it will be good news for him because he won't come here every day to irritate him.
"Okay, I will get the training," said Dae Ju with confidence.
"Okay, then meet me tomorrow at 9 pm. Not in the police station, I will text you the address." Mr. Park sits down properly and said with a smile though he was surprised by Dae Ju's behavior today.
"Okay, then I'll leave and happy new year." saying this he stood up and bowed towards the cops. Suddenly he heard a voice which was very familiar to him. He turns around and takes a look at every people. He found a boy was coming to him. He was entering there while talking on the phone. Though many people were talking there, Dae Ju could recognize the voice amongst the voices. It was Yeon Hoon. He was coming because he promised that he will come back again. And he came. His face was full of tension and he was in a rush.
"Where is detective Min?" he came directly to Dae Ju and asked him. He thought of Dae Ju as a detective as he was standing. He could guess what happened and why he was here. Dae Ju looked at Mr. Park.
"It's me! Who is asking?" the detective who impressed Dae Ju raised his hand while looking at his computer screen and said.
"I called you a while ago. Remember?" he asked and went to Mr. Min.
"Ah! Kang Yeon Hoon! Please come and have a seat." looking at him the detective said. Yeon Hoon took his seat and wanted to talk with him in private. But there was a rabbit whose ear was standing and tried to listen everything.
"Why are you still here? I told you to meet me tomorrow!" Mr. Park glared at him.
"Ah! Sorry! But I have something else to say!" Dae Ju smiled strangely. Actually, he didn't want to say anything else. He just wants to listen to Yeon Hoon.
"What?" the cop asked him.
"Ah! I just forgot! Let me remind it!" he smiled weirdly again and took his seat again. He acted like he was trying to remember but actually he was trying to listen to Yeon Hoon and Mr. Min's conversation.
"Do you have any suspicions about the stalker?" the detective asked Yeon Hoon.
"No! That's why it's a big problem!" he said then looked around if someone was hearing him. Suddenly his eye stopped at Dae Ju and he could understand that he was listening to him so he stopped talking. Dae Ju looked another way immediately.
"Do you want to tell anything or not!" Mr. Park's voice increased slowly.
"Ah! The thing is....." Dae Ju couldn't understand what he should say.
"Then please leave and don't waste our time!" shouted Mr. Park. Dae Ju looked at Yeon Hoon and noticed that he was still looking at him and when Dae Ju looked at him he moved his eyesight and concentrate on his own job. Dae Ju understands that if he stays here one more minute, he will have to lose his self-respect in front of the kid. So, he stood up and said,
"I am sorry!" Then he left the place. He wanted to know what happened to the kid and what will he do now. But he couldn't so she felt disappointed and sighed. But there was one thing that comforts Dae Ju and it was he doesn't have to worry about him and Lina anymore. He can fix everything on his own and Dae Ju believe in him that he will.
