It was past midnight.
The rustling of leaves could be heard, when the breeze did its work on them.
A cool, deep silence fell calmly on the chamber of the hotel where she was staying.
The moon shone brightly more than it had always done on a normal day, maybe that would not have been noticed or taken into much consideration, had it been Tiana wasn't standing in her verandah staring blankly into space.
Giving attention to things that didn't matter at the moment, just so she could keep herself entertained.
The moonlight graced her presence, that one could think from looking at her where she was, that she was a goddess.
A goddess of beauty was Tiana Hamilton, that had been the special features about her that got people envious of her.
The white luxurious nightwear she wore, added more to her ravishing appearance this night.
That it was impossible for one not to take a second look at her,Tiana Hamilton, had everything that girls normally throw bad comments her way for being way too gorgeous.
The night seemed to be her favourite time, because the drink in her hand gave off the wrong impression, that she was having a good time.
But that was all wrong.
There was absolutely no reason, for a normal human being who was supposed to be asleep by midnight,to have any reasonable reason to be awake, and alone judging the time.
Her grey eyes did nothing to hide the loneliness, hurt and everything which one could imagine were not good for someone like her.
For others, she had the perfect life, the perfect family, money, beauty and brains, but that was not the same for her.
Yeah, she did have everything which was the envy of many eyes, that got the wrong impression that she was just being a spoiled princess.
But their own impression about how perfect her life was, does not align with her thinking.
She was lonely.
Hurt.
Depressed.
Alone.
Which other word could be used to describe what fits the mood she was in tonight? Because that was the truth behind the fake smiles she put on everyday.
The insomnia that had been a curse for seventeen years, had been the reason for her being awake at this time of the night.
She couldn't forget.
How could she?
Her mother had been wrongfully treated, and had been coerced to give her child up to the wrong hands, who were called her Family.
They said she was their family, that's what they made her believe. They had tricked her into believing that her mother abandoned her and called her a responsibility.
That had been her fault.
The memories haven't for once escaped her mind.
She had bought the idea of a perfect family, when her mother took her to introduce to her husband's family.
The longing to be united, which had been her mother's thinking had got her into the mess she was today.
Her dad changed drastically Infront of her,and had chosen to side with his mother over an argument. In which she reckoned, it was all about her grandma not buying the idea of her mother staying in the same house with them.
Battling daily with her conscience, over the humiliation her mother went through in the old hags hands was what gave her insomnia.
Coupled with the fact that her dad was not who she thought he was, maybe everything would have been different and working in her favor if she hadn't bothered her mother about meeting her dad.
The despicable look on his face that day when she was introduced to her dad, gave her the idea that she had been living in a fairytale all along, while thinking of him as some prince charming.
But no!
He's like her,the exact replica of his mother and a puppet for the old hag too.
Tiana sighed, her hands moved on to clutch the necklace, which was the only belonging of her mother that she had left with her.
Touching it gives her the feeling that she was here with her,she has always promised to be there no matter what.
Promises?
No,she lied.
As much as Tiana was mad at what her grandmother did to her,she was also mad towards her mother too.
No mother on earth can abandon her child, for seventeen years without reaching out to know how she's fairing.
Families don't abandon one another, but she did that.
She abandoned her to the cruel hands of her grandma, who was the worst idea of a mother.
It hurts alot, when she thinks far back at the sweet worries they shared while they were alone, life has been better when it was just the both of them.
She was the happiest.
It was just the both of them.
But yet,she valued and treasure every single precious moment, but the truth was made clear to her while she was growing up.
Nobody cared.
Not even her dad, or her grandmother who had taken her away because she was family, cared when she got her first award at school.
They didn't see her as important enough to have their attention, itv had always been her alone.
Not even when she started being a rebel at school, which has been a strategy formulated by her to get father's attention, none of that worked.
They made it known to her that she wasn't wanted, crushing her spirit of having a perfect family.
A girl can only dream, but her dream has always been to be loved, and her dad wasn't up for the offer.
So,why the hell would she think of going back to that hell?
When she had everything.
Her freedom was assured.
Yeah,it hurts being lonely.
No one to talk to,but that had always been her life, there never had been a real one who cared about her.
Back then,at highschool, there were a whole lot of them which had flocked around her,for being the daughter of such a wealthy family.
The love was fake, she was not stupid, everyone had to go their separate ways when they graduated, including Michelle who had pretended to care.
Tiama had actually thought she was cursed, but no,the truth was finally clear to her.
No matter how many times she tried to believe that her dad would change and would go back to find her mother.
That had been her fantasizing about it and giving herself fake assurement, because there was no one coming for her.
She had been alone all her life,so,why do they suddenly need her back home?
In their dreams.
There's absolutely no way she's going back there,to be a puppet for that old hag.
No!
The freedom she got now was ten times better than what was actually waiting for her back there.
That's no home.
Home is with family, but with the Hamilton's,there's no home.
The Hamilton's weren't thinking that way,and she doesn't intend on abiding by their rules.
There's no family while the old hag is still breathing, and she's not planning on dying anytime.which leads her to no other option but to stay away until she's dead.
But until then, who says giving her more reasons to get angry at her wasn't fun?
Seeing the old hag snap is happiness, and she doesn't intend on stopping that happiness anytime soon.
Rather, she will keep it rolling in,nonstop.
That's a promise from Tiana Hamilton, the question now was,is the old hag ready for her?
