Drew sat motionless, his eyes staring forward; still not saying a single word. The color of his face had returned to normal, the grey of death lifted. I sat down next him, putting my hand on his leg. "Hey big guy—you in there still?" He turned his gaze to me; I noticed his eyes were bloodshot and sunken in. The dark rings under his eyes unchanging. He nodded once, looking away again. "Drew—"
"Please," he croaked harshly, pushing my hand off his leg. "just bring me my son." He looked at me this blistering anger in his glare. "We need to get out of here."
I stood, trying to calm him down. "Gage is asleep on the couch still. He doesn't remember anything."
