She had tossed herself over his body, sobbing uncontrollably. The pain she felt I had felt when I saw her in that courtyard and now she felt that pain for him. "I'm sorry Drew—I never should have kissed you that night—you were so happy without me!"
Damn it.
The ache in my chest was for them both. Who was I kidding—Andrew had become my companion as well. "My queen—" I muttered, taking to her side. She had appeared out of thin air, standing over a flaming corpse that was my brother. When I saw Andrew lying dead, I was sure she had suffered the same.
"NO!" she screamed at me, pushing me away from him. "He's—" she sobbed, holding her hand over her mouth.
When I pulled her close, she didn't resist. Instead, she collapsed against me, clawing to stay at my side. "I'm sorry my love—"
